so no ASIA nor EUR vendor on this one?
(Europe and MENA) Prototypist.net - 50 units
(AS) ilumkb - 75 units
Hey, sorry if this is not the place to ask about this, but I saw the post on the IC thread about ISO plates not being available for purchase. Is this the case for all vendors (including Europe)?
I’ve never had a plate custom built before. If I wanted to get an ISO plate based on the files that gondo has said will be open sourced, is it easy to do, and is there a particular recommended supplier (in the US)? Can it be done in the same sandblasted brass style as the original?
Just trying to figure everything out with <24 hours until the GB! Any tips appreciated.
Just ordered one from ProtyTypist, and I am super happy now. This is officially my first GB :)Damn. The Sagittarius is definitely a strong way to kick off your time in the hobby. Congrats man.
A small correction: in the description above, it is mentioned 438 pound is the price of the base kit (with tax), but in reality I got charged 441.7 pound instead. Not a big deal but just FYI. The shipping cost itself is 12.7 pound which I find it acceptable/cheap.
Bro that sucked ass. I'd rather be racing against bots than have to get in line in a "queue" at 11:00 on the dot and proceed to wait in line for *15 minutes* while Cannon Keys raffles my spot in line to people who joined the queue at like 11:05. Should have VPN'd into another region's GB maybe.
I just ordered from ProtoTypist and have no problem with the checkout, although it is significantly more expensive than the US price. With tax, it is 441.7 pound which more or less equal to $590 :(Yeah, the new system is exclusive to Cannon Keys for now. And yeah, I know the vendors are region-locked; that's why I made the jab about using a VPN, haha. Cannon Keys' new system turns every GB into 2 raffles and yet they are still saying it has "aspects of FCFS" or something. Basically, you have to enter a raffle to get the opportunity to pick what you want and add them to your cart. Then you enter a SECOND raffle to see whether you are allowed to go to the checkout and actually pay for your stuff. So, even if you do get lucky enough to get through the first raffle, someone else can get in AFTER you and add YOUR stuff to THEIR cart and then get through the second raffle queue before you do, and then you're left with nothing since the stuff you added to your cart was just sold to somebody else and you don't get the option to buy something that is still available either; you just get booted back to the first raffle queue, if it's still running. I didn't even get that far, however, and I just sat in the first raffle queue until the board was sold through. Rip.
At the same time, according to the website, they are limiting the order to Europe area at the moment.Bro that sucked ass. On the page it specifically says that the first-day sale is reserved for Europe and MESA. Do you have a proxy? I can VPN in but they probably will cancel my order seeing my address.

Drop me a support email if you think the amount charged is wrong - I'll take a look (jae@prototypist.net)
Just RE: the VAT for EU folks - as discussed in the IC, I know its a concern. There are still a lot of unknowns based on if there is or isn't a brexit deal. But there will be options to make sure VAT isn't paid twice. If there is a vehicle for me to reclaim the VAT I will refund it of course, and if not I'm investigating other options with my accountant - such as cancelling orders and customers re-buy after Jan under the new rules.
I'll be proactive about this and send out a news letter once everything is known regarding brexit and what the options are - but right now I have to follow the law and collect VAT (and pray for the UK's sake (and the EU's fishing folks) a deal is made)
Hey Jae, is there an exact time that Prototypist will be onto "day 2" of the Sagittarius and will no longer be region locked?

I was able to get into the GB, but realized it would be great to have a wrist rest for this board. Will there be a wrist rest in the near future?

A TKL wrist rest will work perfectly with this board. It won't be visually the nicest, but it will be perfectly comfy (using a more "dented" TKL ergo with a 100% wrist rest).
Thank you, I'll look into those, but I was kind of hoping for aesthetic reasons, there would be a dedicated wrist rest like I have seen on many other ergo boards. Just in case there aren't any, do you know of any "dented" TKL wrist rests?
Don't hate me but this board looks like a pair of gramma underwear.

Guys, DailyClack has recently opened up to international buyers and some units are still up: https://dailyclack.com/collections/group-buys/products/sagittarius-keyboard-kit
as an aside, I've been following development of this board since IC phase, when I was a mere geekhack lurker, and I just remember being so moved by the story of how this board came to be, OP-- I just wanted to thank you from the bottom of my heart for never giving up on this project, and for all the good you're going to do with it.
People like you give me hope for true friendship and good people in this world-- plus, keyboards backed by science... I will be following any future projects of yours for sure ; u ;

omg yes, this!!
I noticed this on my own the other day while browsing Daily Clack's group buy section (they often have keysets available long after they've sold out in my own USA proxies), and it was so exciting bc I was sure I'd missed out on the chance to get in on this board. Just placed my order last night, after a long debate over whether to order navy or e-white (navy wins haha).
Before I ordered it said '7 units remaining', and as of checking right before posting this there are still 5 awesome Sagittarius keyboards remaining up for grabs-- don't miss out like I almost did guys!!

I just want to echo this sentiment. It is one of the most innovative, substantive design I have seen.
I would admit that I like the original case better but the look is really not what this board is about.
Great work, Gondo! Many people appreciate your contribution to the community!
Is there a discord to discuss about Sagittarius? Is it possible to change the color of my order?

I missed this GB like an idiot. Can I ask if there will be any extras and also what the Discord channel for this is?

Cannonkeys does not have dedicated channel but IlumKB has it.

I could not find it on their site?
Can we have the case dimensions? Looking into getting a carrying bag. Is it TKL sized, or generally larger?
Hahah well thanks a ton! Saved me a poorly fitting bag and some money... I need to read the GB description more closely next time I buy something it seems. Can we have the case dimensions? Looking into getting a carrying bag. Is it TKL sized, or generally larger?
The kit contains a carrying bag.

Hey Gondo, did you happen to have half plate files? I ask because you designed the PCB with flex cuts, and I think a half plate would go great with them. I'd be interested in getting a half plate made before the board arrives.
To be honest no I didn't think of a half plate -- you can make one if you'd like. Which reminds me I should open-source the plate files.

Guess I'll have to learn how to use some sort of CAD software lol. Appreciate the open source files.

Let me see if I can make the half-plate files in my stream today
Gondo, was curious if you want to run wrist rest fitting saggi in the future?
Hi Gondo, Where I can find Sagittarius's plate file?
any updates?
Hey Gondo, do you know how much space there is between PCB and case normally? Would these fit longer mill-max sockets?
any updates?
Not that I'm aware of -- the CK discord should be the best place to ask!

Just checked the CK Discord. The only update says “manufacturing.” Their website status is the same and hasn’t been updated since last year. The Discord rules say asking for updates “will result in a perma-ban from hobby,” which seems like a lot and would get interesting when they tried to take my keyboards. :)
Anyhow, we’re about six months in with zero updates. Seems like something more substantial would be customary soon. Thanks for listening!
Gondo - what encoder will work for the Sag?

Sorry if this is a dumb question, but I'm looking at options for getting a plate cut and plugging in the SVGs at this link, and I'm not sure what I should put for the dimensions (height, width, and thickness). Is this information available anywhere?

You should be able to get all of that from the SVGs using a vector software (like Inkscape)
Sorry to ping this thread again about the same topic. I figured out most of the dimensions I need for the plate, but there is one left: the plate thickness. Other brass plates I have are 1.5mm, so I'm guessing that might be right, but I don't know how much room there is for error in a gasket mounted system and I don't want to order something and later find it doesn't fit! The other options I'm given (by laser boost) are 1.2mm or 3mm (which I assume is way too thick). Sendcutsend offers 1.6mm, which I'd hope is close enough to 1.5mm as to be equivalent.
I could, of course, wait for my sagittarius to arrive and measure the thickness of the plate, but if you could let me know the thickness of the one that comes with the sagittarius ahead of time it would allow me to get everything together ready for when the keyboard itself arrives :-)
Thanks for the help, sorry to have to keep banging on about the plate!
I would absolutely love a wrist rest for this thing. Please make it happen.

But who’s going to make it happen? Have the design files for the case been released? Should be helpful to any community efforts.

Hey! Me neither!
Out of curiosity - based on design intentions, prototyping, and your personal preferences, do you already have a plan for how you want to build the board(s) you’re receiving?
Hello, how do I use the 4 rotary encoders on the left side? :-X
Hello, how do I use the 4 rotary encoders on the left side? :-X
You don't -- you're supposed to use just one
lol already soldered 4 >.>
If four/multiple encoders aren’t possible, hoping we can get layer support on the encoder so we can control volume, scroll, brightness, etc.
The pre-flashed VIA-compatible firmware only supports 2 layers (0 and 1) - is this a memory constraint of the MCU? Or are we able to more layers using VIA if we change the value in config.h and compile our own?
So I've built my Sagittarius and have used it for a while, and I wanted to get folks' feedback on the layout.
If you have a Sagittarius, have you been using it regularly? What do you think of the curved/split layout? Any trouble adjusting? Does it seem more comfortable once you get used to it?
I just wanted to ask if anyone would like to sell me their Sagittarius? I made a mistake when I missed out on this and would like to buy if possible.

I will take a look into it, but I am almost certain that's because of the VIA and MCU constraints yes. The MCU has 64kB of flash memory which has to store both EEPROM for VIA and QMK for firmware

I'm a bit new with this kind of thing, but do you think it'd be possible to flash it with only QMK to unlock the space for another layer or two
and if so, would you be kind enough to point me in the direction of how to go around doing something like that?
Thanks!
Got one of the extras the day they dropped and this board has not left my desk since it got here. I've never felt so comfortable typing for long periods of time, and would love to have a gaming specific layer built into this along with a function layer (and programming the constellation led's for everything) :D

The stock firmware submitted does not support encoders at all, which was a miss on our part but we are looking into it.
Any hope for Upas to release the dimensions so we could get wrist rests made? Sure seems like the board will be incomplete without a matching rest. Also hoping for this? Any wrist test options or files to help build our own?
Hi Gondo and folks!
Seems I am a fan of Gondo boards, first the Viendi 8L and now the Sagittarius.
I have 2 questions though: which colors (bottom as well as top) are anodized and which are painted?
I believe E-white is always painted?
And: what’s up with that pretty red board, is there a way to get that one?
Cheers! :)
Hi, just wondering if encoder support was ever added. Thanks! :)
Hi, just wondering if encoder support was ever added. Thanks! :)
It was not, no. The QMK PR for the encoders was still not merged and at this point I dont think it ever will. I tried a custom implementation to no avail because the QMK drivers for the encoders changed. might as well try again
