im unsure what to expect when you say lavender...any chance we could have a photoshopped key to see the approximate look?

Of course! Unicomp orange looks a bit ugly to me (looks better in skcheng's photos).

What do you say about Baby Blue (light blue)?

Yep, here's the reply I got:
"We can do the Geek Hack on one button but it would be costly. 1 button would be $5.00."

Just in case they can't actually do an all caps text would that be a big problem?

I wrote Chuck to confirm 100% that they can do it in all caps, same layout as the existing GH keys. I'm still waiting for the answer. These could be both 1-piece or 2-piece, up to us.

So, let's make them red for starters and then we can follow up with other colors.

It would be cool to get a GEEKHACK key for my Model M though!
Let's hope Unicomp can do the lettering.

I'm in for four(4) of them, as long as we're still talking about red/black.  I'm a bit new here (first post, but been lurking for a bit), how do I go about paying for this?  from OP, Unicomp directly, or some other arcane system of beads & shells involving the wind?

It still has not been clarified exactly what colours there are, and in what way the orange keys are inferior to the way SKCheng's photos show them.

On the contrary.. in post #15 it was stated that I will be ordering red keys (black text). This is now a done deal.

If this goes well, I don't see why we couldn't order orange, blue or whatever :)

I'd like one, I think -- just one question. I type on a 122-key Unicomp with two-piece caps. Is one single-piece cap going to: a) look different, and/or b) feel any different?

Cheers.

Actually I have no idea whether this is going to be a one-piece or a two-piece cap. It won't look different and shouldn't feel different.

Lavender would be like this, although I think they make a darker one as well

There's a chart somewhere of all the colours they offer and pictures of them.

The coloured keycaps are usually two part.

BTW, IBAN/SEPA, bank transfer available? For Slovenia it should be cheaper than other options, inside the system.
So I should add something useless here yes? Ok, ok...

Of course. Bank transfers within EU are an excellent alternative to PayPal.

To the people on the pre-order list, I worked out the details! I'll just copy-paste iMav's instructions:

Price: first key $9 shipped, additional keys +$5 each.

Send money via paypal (as a gift if at all possible) to bojan.kotur [at] gmail.com . In the subject, put IBM GH key - March - GH username. In the body of the message, please include number of keys, your mailing address, and your geekhack username.

EU members can choose SEPA payment. PM me for details.

Cheers,
SainT

Here's a better picture. As you can see, most of the caps have "weak print" in the center, beats me why. The worse samples will not be distributed. It's certainly not perfect but also not too terrible.

I'll also speak to Chuck on Monday as he wasn't at work today.

Oh jesus, forgot about this entirely.

I suppose you still have some left?

EDIT: Of course you do, I see my name on the list on the first post. Boy, do I feel like a ****. Sorry to keep you waiting!

If you still have a few left, maybe I could get two off you instead of the one I signed up for? By the way, is shipping still the same to New Zealand ($9 for first key, $5 for additional including shipping)?

Many thanks, sorry to piss you around.

Cool. Sent that off now. My first time doing a personal Paypal transaction, looks like it screwed up the format of my address in the message, but hopefully you can figure it out.

Thanks heaps for this man!

Noticed on my Unicomp 122-key, that occasionally the printing is a little iffy, much like the keys you got. For example, my `Control' key (spelled out, not `Ctrl') is a little crooked and faded in places.

In any case, no big deal, get street cred for having a faded Model M! That's some serious typing!

Sent off the keys!

Cool, got home from work and there were two nice keys in the mailbox.

The ones I got actually look very good, the printing is not really all that bad. Nice red too. Brilliant, thanks very much Half-Saint!

Will post up a pic of them on my aircraft carrier when I get to work tomorrow.

Was happily surprised (although obvious now I look back at this thread) that they have the keystems as well! So now I have a couple spare. Which is good because I'm about to receive a very crappy Model M with a keystem missing.

Big thanks to Half-Saint.

I wrote Chuck to confirm 100% that they can do it in all caps, same layout as the existing GH keys. I'm still waiting for the answer. These could be both 1-piece or 2-piece, up to us.

Wait, Unicomp can make the two piece keycaps? For some reason I was under the impression Unicomp's keyboards all had one piece caps. Special order only?

They do a lot of their keyboard with two-piece keycaps. My 122-key terminal emulator, for instance. I didn't ask, it just came that way.

UPDATE: I only have 2 or 3 keycaps left from the first batch. However, Chuck sent me about 15 replacement caps to replace the bad ones which didn't get shipped out anyway. Different font, much much better printing. If anyone is interested, just follow the instructions.

To everyone that already paid for their keys, I'll be going to the post office today.

To everyone else: there are 5 keys left from the first batch and 3 "Geek Hack" keys as well.

Cheers

Hi! Wanted to send you the keys on Friday but I was refused because of the Canada post strike. I tried again yesterday and they accepted my package. Hope it doesn't take too long.

Thanks! =)
