"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

If someone has a couple extra 470 ohm resistors, I would be more than happy to pay the postage for them, as they should go in a standard envelope

Wouldn't that be cheaper from a local electronics store? I'm not sure how hard they are to come by bit they're fairly common where I live.

Then again local postage is cheap too (and convenient )

Does any one have some NMB "Space Invader" keycaps like the ones on the keyboard in the bottom of the picture?

I have the one on top but I'm trying to find the normal modifiers like the other keyboard.

Isn't a 1.75u shift included in that set?

I just checked massdrop and it appears they didn't include it.

Meanwhile, here's how to make one yourself with two paper clips and a bit of nylon tubing. (I think it was originally part of this page by GH member Nanu.)

Hi guys, so I just broke a few of my Cherry MX housing and would need some to replace their place. If anyone has got some spare Cherry MX switches they don't use let me know, I'm willing to pay shipping and possibly some on top. Doesn't matter what color, as long as the housing and the pins are intact. I'm even fine if you only send me the housing. Thank you!

Would anyone happen to have a spare Granite set "x" key?

Can't seem to find mine since I took my granite set off my mobik

Maybe email SP and see if they have one that is destined for a grab bag.  Actually, come to think of it, the grab bags were all just sold, so they probably don't.  But I am sure someone who got a grab bag would have one...

I have some Wyse keyboards with Cherry blacks arriving over the next few weeks, and I was wondering if it would out-of-bounds to offer them (minus keycaps, because that's what I'm getting them for) for the cost of shipping, plus one single, unusual/interesting/cool Cherry keycap*, and a Geekhack update when you put the board to good use!

I just feel bad about stripping and dumping a board that someone would want to have, but I really don't need (or have room for) a bunch of Cherry black switches. Sacrilege, I know, but bumps and clicks are important! Cherry brown, blue, green, white, and clear are my favorite Cherry switches, and if you notice, black isn't on the list.  But I want to ask for one keycap, just to show the boards have *some* value. :) Plus, the part about showing they were put to good use would mean at least they didn't get put in a drawer -- or worse, a dumpster! Making them spiffy and putting them on Ebay isn't a problem, if you can do it without the keycaps I will be taking from them.

Note that these will be Wyse keyboards with unusual plugs, like a DIN-10 or something that looks like RJ11, so you will need a Teensy or the equivalent of Soarer's converter to use them.

/Asking a bit in advance -- three of the keyboards are in transit, and I'm going on a vacation starting next week. I'm not even sure what the USPS charges for shipping. But I will probably sort things out toward the end of May.
// *Or a keycap that would fit an IBM/Unicomp buckling spring! Oh, man, that would be sweet! :)

I would personally use one to harvest switches from, so once you get them I would be happy for one as long as you are US

I'm on the opposite coast in Oregon, but still in CONUS. I'll let you have first pick. :)

Assuming everything arrives, I have these two from Ebay:

And an appropriate picture (I asked the seller before I bid):

Or this one I'm getting from Venatorious:

/You can see why I'd feel guilty about throwing them away.  :(
/Just send me a PM to remind me when I'm back from vacation. :)

Done! Just send me a PM, and I send one of the poor, naked Cherry Black boards from Ebay. :D

(The only reason I'm sorting things out after my vacation is because my 50th birthday is in May. I'm going to spend it in the glorious redwoods of Northern California, out of internet and possibly cellphone access.

As an addendum, I didn't realize you were in Portland. I'm down here in Jacksonville, Oregon. Glad to see another Oregonian on Geekhack!

Second addendum: All three Wyse boards (sans keycaps) are spoken for.  :thumb:

Does anyone have a red enter keycap that says Kill on it? I remember seeing a few people get them in the crap bags a few months ago. Would love one to complete my red/white combo I'm going for.
