Like I said, I think it's mostly a difference in lighting.

Put your other colored keycaps in different shades of light. They look different.

Hey keyboardlover, Sorry but i am confused as the two pictures u post earlier was abit darker than under the more photos section. Can you please clarify whether it is the lighter blue or the darker blue? In for the lighter blue

It's the same color, just different lighting in the photos. Still in?

Good point. Get a Dell IPS.

Studio CRT is better.

Sony FW900 with BNC input is darn hard to beat.

I don't appreciate spreading incorrect FUD in this thread. If you couldn't see the legend, then you wouldn't be able to see it in the pic I posted!

I feel VERY confident that this is what the keycap will look like:

Show Image

Not trying to spread FUD. But if that's a white background, then why does it look like my coffee in the morning? That's why I said it needs to be color corrected. Your other photos look completely different, no matter what monitor I'm looking at it on. My MBP (granted, TN) or my Dell U2410 (IPS). It'd be great if you could throw a neutral gray card in the photo so people can calibrate it accordingly.

Regardless, it looks like the black is still pretty visible, so I'm still in for now, although I'd really like to see a properly calibrated photo.

Yea...I guess it was because the lighting was low.

I'll see what I can do with more photos tomorrow I guess.

I'm interested, but it really depends on which font you have in mind. Could you give me an example of the font you're going for?

I too am on a Dell IPS (U2311H) and although it's not really professional calibre, the original pic is dark navy blue and the others, a bluish lavender.
I have my monitor calibrated too. Oh well. My decision stands too. I'm out.
(Again someone should get a black on red GB up)

Here are my scanned SP samples. I think the BFD is quite lavender more than blue. Both in the scan and even more IRL. It is quite dark but I don't think black printing will have any problem showing.

I would love for it to be black on red.
Would you be open to a poll and see which is more popular maybe (BFD v RBH)?

Thanks! Your pic looks very close to real life in my opinion.

I took some more pics today. I'll try to get them up later.

Sorry, but I personally have no interest in that color scheme. If someone else would like to start another GB for it, they're more than welcome to.

I just didn't read the OP well, sorry. Helvetica is great.

The only thing I didn't like in the artist's rendering was the alignment/size of the windows and the menu logos. Are those going to be top-left aligned in the final product? I'd prefer them to be centered and a little smaller.

Either way, this set is going to look completely awesome and i'm in for one set. I live in the EU, Netherlands.

Can you give me an estimate on when you make the final decision on whether this is going to go through or not?

They should look like SP's doubleshot windows key. Something like this:

I've emailed them to make sure and they should send me a new rendering this week.

Since this is a bit expensive, I want to give it a little time. We have 18 in now and need to get to 30 for this to go through. I know it's frustrating but the wait will be worth it!

I think the high price is partly why this didn't work in the past.
But I figure if people are paying $110+ for a set of dyesub Topre keycaps, why not?

Not to mention sets of Cherry Corp doubleshots have sold for ~$70...

I think a few blanks would be perfect.

Bytheway, from the scan of the pictures, you've picked the best blue that SP offers. I'm excited to get it.

I was considering pulling out, but now that I know the interest/sign up phase will go for a month, I'm in for sure. This just means I'll not be buying any more keyboards in october :p

Thanks for running this. While I prefer other colours, I think the blue looks really sharp, is worth having, and matches my keyboards. It's gonna be great.

---
Can you say how these compare to Unicomp/IBM keycaps? I really like those, so I'm interested.

Due to the problems geekHack has been having lately, I'm going to be moving this group buy to my new forum here:

I still have to create the group buy post, but for now you're welcome to join.

Implying the website being down for a day due to an uncommon hacking incident is significant justification to migrate it to your own website.  Nothing wrong with keeping it here lol.
