Why didn't you use your spacebar?

Have you heard of the "Uncanny Valley"? If not, Wikipedia that ****. :) Basically, the blue on the spacebar doesn't match, and it's really unfortunate that SP couldn't make that happen better, especially when they were the ones that recommended the color combo for the ABS spacebar (really, they just need to make PBT spacebars). The real problem is that the color is really damn close, and to me that makes it that much more obvious and annoying. I'd rather have a very different color that still goes with the overall color scheme instead of one that tried really hard (but failed) to match the rest of the keys. :)

HAhaha I didn't even notice that issue with the apostrophe.  It look more like a tiny 66 then a tiny 99 as it should.  I'm really not too worried about that though

Yah, it's not a huge deal, and for all I know it could be intentional.

Yeah, I've got a stock black spacebar with the blue PBT keycaps and it fits significantly better with them. I think the blue spacebar looks good on a more multi-colored board I've got though.

Thanks! I hope they arrive before I have to leave for christmas. If not, I'm sure I'll enjoy it on my return.

What's the word on my [v] key, and is there anything about the ["]

To be honest, the ["] doesn't bother me, but it is a mistake. I'd probably pay a couple extra $ just to make sure it's proper.

I will ask them about your v key...

I'm confused on what people are saying about the " key. Looks the same as in this image:

As WELL as the same as my WASD " key.

It's kinda fuzzy in your picture there, but it DOES appear to be the same as in the picture you have.

Here's what my keyboards/keycap sets have to say about it.

FUJITSU: Slanted like [/], thicker on top (smart)
WYSE: Vertical, but thicker at the top (dumb)
IBM: symmetrical line (ambiguous) ("really dumb :p ")
UNICOMP: looks like a small raised "comma" (smart)
OLIVETTI: Similar to WYSE (dumb)
CMSTORM: like IBM ("really dumb :p ")
WASD: Almost like IBM (smart?) (it's a vertical line) but it does look slightly slanted, but not as much as fujitsu

So, other than Cmstorm, IBM, and maybe WASD, all the evidence I have indicates that it's suppose to be thicker on the top (so the "comma tail" is supposed to be on teh bottom) and the Unicomp indicates that it's supposed to be just like a comma, but raised.
----

Really, though I'd be nitpicking if I thought it was a big deal.

From your picture, it does look intentional. It's fine with me, I'm just not used to looking at them like that. All my other keyboards just have symmetrical vertical lines. :) Thanks for getting the replacement backspaces out so quick. You did a fantastic job on this group buy. Leaving feedback. :)

See my GLWIC post on the quotation mark thing including Pics and an explanation of modern computer typography.  It really IS odd.  Even different than Group Key Buy One's.

Typical Signature Plastics.
It's just a "smart" quotation mark (which is a little uncommon, bun not unheard-of) that's an opening quotation mark instead of the more-common closing one that's used. Knowing this, I'm now very happy with it.

The declared value did not show up clearly on the package. Maybe that's why I avoided it. =)
And besides, to a normal person who scans the package, it won't look like it will cost around $200. LoL

There is nothing wrong with it per se. But I think it would look better if the characters were centered at the same location. Compare to Filco standard caps, where the "I" is further in from the edge of the key. It's just one more example that makes me question SP's judgment on design.

It looks nice and all, but I like the red alert set more. Sometimes, as I use it, the retro set seems too greyish... and it only goes well on certain color of keyboards. Anyway, still a very innovative design from a guy in OTD. He was originally planning on a darker blue on greys.. but it turned out light blue and since people loved it, he just sticked with it.

I get your point. But the "I"s on original Cherry keycaps are like that too. How about using the actual "I" that you are seeing here on the screen.. w/ top and bottom bars. Might be better for older folks to distinguish it from a "1". LoL

Awesome!

Btw, the otd guys are showing mixed reactions to the dye-sub blues. Some like it and thinks it's cool, some think the blue is too strong and the background should have been some lighter color.
Anyway, I like it. Here are some pics that I took.. applied them on a custom keyboard.
