because the MOQ is extremely high, we need to make it all-in-one kit at an affordable price.

If moq is high you should focus on a larger potential consumer base instead of limiting it to 60% and smaller. Your argument makes no sense and you’re contradicting yourself.

Heck, even 60% support is mediocre since there’s no support for 7u spacebar, no split right shift, no 1.5u bottom row, no split backspace. So really your consumer base is 60% users with a standard poker layout, or 40% stuff etc.

Thanks for your feedback!

>no split right shift, no split backspace
we have R4 1.75u SHIFT + R4 1u FN and R1 1u BS + R1 1u Novelty

This keyset was initially developed for ortholinear keyboards such as Planck and Preonic, or splits such as Corne and lily58, and later for 60% layout. I myself am a designer of 40% split called Zinc and also 40% Aleth42. So, first and foremost, it has to be 40% compatible.

It's easy to complain, but I feel that the layouts that can be covered by this all-in-one kit are quite well thought out.
I guess something has to be left out about the R4 1.5U and V4N layout to achieve the cost and MOQ.
All that aside, these reverse die sub PBT MDA keycaps are pretty cool!
I'll In.

I think that for those keyboards, the kit is good and offers a lot (although it’s not my area of expertise). Looked over the 1.75u shift support.

R1 1U is not split backspace support, you’ll need R2 1.5u backspace for that. But without proper tsangan bottom row support including split backspace is a bit far fetched anyway. Imo it’s fine to focus on the sub60 users, although reaching moq with just that might be a challenge.

This is what 40s users say when they see a set where we'd have to buy a giant base kit and a separate 40s kit to make it work.

QF-effing-T. Amen!

I’ll say the design is interesting, but I don’t get how the mods and theme work together. Because it’s “future” suzuri,  the “valid”, “turn”, and “boost” make the traditional inkstone “futurish”?

The set looks visually interesting (and love the sub-60 kitting #Sorrynotsorry), I’m just struggling with the grokking the realization of the inspiration.
Ortho. Always.

This looks very interesting.

But I really think the minimum you should support is 65%, split BS and 7u Spacebar.
Also more 1.5u novelties and enter novelty.

Yeah I agree. I get that supporting 40% is the main goal, but not supporting up to 65% feels like a missed opportunity...

Maybe move those "additional" keys to support up to a standard TKL (a base set) to their own kit and force non-ortho users to buy additional kits for once? I'm sure that'll meet MOQ, but no skin on the 40% base kit if it doesn't

Love it, down for 40% but I honestly think even bumping it to 65% would garner a lot more interest overall and even make me happier with it (even if it's just as an addon).

for being a 40s-oriented set, this has awful 40s kitting

at minimum you should include 1.75u R2 Backspace, 1.5u R3 Enter (ideally also with an accent option), 1.25u R4 Shift, and 2x 3u bars

EDIT: however if that support were added, I would be very in for this set

I'm pretty sure MelGeek doesn't have minivan molds.
As for 1.25u Shift I don't care because I could just use the Fn key, but 3u I do agree, they should have the molds for that.

I am interested in this set.
I like 60~65% keyboards, and I'm also a little interested in 40% keyboards, although I don't own any yet.

If I had to say, I would like to see additional caps like 7u space, etc. for better support in the 40~65% range, but I have no serious complaints with the current kit.

Thank you for your feedback!
Sorry for not responding to you individually.

After much discussion with the vendors, we've decided to expand the layout to TKL, with 3u spacebar, 7u also spacebar, and ISO enter.
The attached layout is the one that will be added.

Vendors and pricing will have to wait until GB.
Of course, it will be worldwide GB!

this is certainly an improvement, but the missing Minivan mods (1.75u R2 backspace and 1.5u R3 enter) means I'll be skipping this set—and I suspect this will also be true for many other 40s users. which is disappointing, to say the least, for a set that supposedly focused on 40s kitting.

yep, the so-called 40s set only needs two more keys to cover the whole range of Minivan boards, seems like a no-brainer but guess not  :-X shame too as these colors are great and I'd quite like to try MDA
