I took some pics of the ABS colors that most closely match, although IMO there's really only 2 colors that are close: GE and GEW. I took pics from several angles and some different lighting conditions to try and show a good overall impression of the color matching.

First up is my "good" Dolch keyboard that has very little yellowing.

For comparison, I also took pics of the same colors against a more yellowed Dolch keyboard, I think GE/GEW still match up pretty well, and really, there aren't any better options for it.

Well at this point I would be in for at least two base kits.

I'd still like to see an add on kit for all of the missing modifiers for consistency's sake, although I don't know how reasonable that is to expect.

You'll be able to order any of the add-on kits independently, with or without base kits.

there willl be an official price listing in the order thread, which will be a better estimat coz all the other fees will be taken into account by then.

+$35 each for legend fee for each key

APPROXIMATE
Exactly 25 sets - $19.85/set
Exactly 50 sets - $11.07/set

Not that bad but because of the 3 colours available it will be hard to hit a good number, black will have it the hardest

Why do you think black will be hardest?  There are more black sets out there than Dolch + white, by far.

So are all the kits you posted with price quotes a go? Or are we still gauging interest. I guess the real question is, is there a minimum order for the smaller kits?

Black sets are more common compared to beige and dolch, also black sets with doubleshots that is fully compatible is out there, compared to Dolch which doesn't exist and I believe beige is hard to find.

For example, a Cherry black set used one that clicky and quarzac were doing GB for were $25, then you have Moogle Kit which I'll be generous and say there will be 50 orders $17.47/set without fees/legends/shipping then a Full Modifier Adapter Kit @ 25 sets is 19.85/set without fees/shipping

which comes to $62.32, I will round off the shipping/fees and what not so the total should be around $70

http://www.ebay.com/itm/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&_trksid=p4340.l2557&hash=item1c243174cc&item=120866305228&nma=true&pt=PCA_Mice_Trackballs&rt=nc&si=nciRyr5aE4iX1b3dbieoUEte%252BY4%253D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc#ht_500wt_713 was recently posted and I showed it to some people that were looking for these to get, as it was $35 for a used set which the seller was willing to accept $25 + $10shipping but you get a full on compatible black DS set for half the price. Insead of a half Cherry half SP set.

So if you were to just get the moogle kit price wise it's reasonable but with the Full Modifier Adapter Kit not so much, but once again this is just for the black DS set. Beige and Dolch on the other hand this isn't possible that's why those will be far more popular

I'm not sure.  The main issue is doing the SVGs.  Ideally I'd like to have them in hand before I start taking orders, but it makes sense to know which of them are getting cut before spending time on the SVGs.

Yeah, that's no problem.  It was the off-cetner flat caps lock that was an issue.

Yes, they do center-mount stepped, center-mount flat, and off-center stepped.  Off-center flat is the only combo they don't have a mold for.

How important to you are stepped caps lock and blank modifiers? (to use in place of the Win keys)

I like the centre stem stepped caps but have no use for the blank modifiers, but if that's the only way centre stem stepped caps is offered I would get that kit

I find it odd looking to have everything to be OEM like but then throw in 2 blanks because you don't like the win key, but that's how Cherry makes it and isn't it the point to match Cherry key for key?

What if we replaced the flat caps lock in the base kit with a stepped caps?  Love/hate?

Yes it will be fine, unless SP screws up.

You get the same result from modding a off-centre stepped to centre-stem from OEM Cherry keycaps.

Personally, I think Base Kit++ should be the base kit. It'll help drive down prices for a lot of people and it's not that big of a price jump, one that gets smaller very quickly.

I know there is too much talk about spec'ing the keys and not enough movement on ordering, but I think a center stem stepped caps would be cool.  Because there aren't any out there without manually modifying.
As this is a moogle kit I think the totally retro look stepped key is better than a flat.  It completes the look, and you don't have to make a jig, hack up a key, glue a stem in, file it down to correct stem length, etc.

I don't care for the blank modifiers.  We will have the colour code used for the keys. People can just get them from the SP stock list.

But it really doesn't matter.  I'll order either way.

We are waiting on SVGs at the moment, so there's plenty of time to discuss the kits.  As soon as I have the SVGs in hand I'll start the order thread.

There's also the option of two variations of the base kit, one for stepped and one for flat caps lock.  Possibly also for ISO/ANSI, yielding 12 base kit combinations:

BASEKIT-{STEP,FLAT}-{ISO,ANSI}-{BLACK,WHITE,DOLCH}

That complicates pricing for me, but makes ordering easy.

I don't think the blank modifiers belong in the base kit though, and possibly not in the buy at all if you can buy them direct from SP.
