I know we can get the official HHKB roof but I don't want one because it has the cut out for the lite. Would anybody want to get together with me and get some roofs made to fit the pro pefectly?

^ same. Would like one if cheaper than EK's :)

Unless we go crazy and get the HHKB logo etched (is that the manufacturing term for writing on plastic?) onto it, then it can be more expensive.

That would be a good idea. Unless anyone knows who someone to get them made from I will look into it tomorrow night as I need to go bed soon. I would really love the HHKB symble etched in though.

Depends on the quality I would be in, while a lot of people don't like the official one because of the extra cut on the right hand side and the cost, but Bird Electron's roofs are by far the best, other brands or customs that I've seen so far don't come close.

Of course it is quite a bit more expensive but the quality really is there.

Have you got close up pics of it? I can send pics to companys I will be looking for a quote from and ask if they can provide the same quality.

Apart from a SSK I don't want another keyboard except the HHKB. Thought I might as well get some toys to go with it.

Same here. Don't think i will get any other keyboard, except a topre numpad and perhaps another HHKB. awaiting Profosist's custom ergo clear boards and that should be it. which is also the same size as the HHKBs :D so more same-sized toys!

Litster might be able to point you in the right direction and give you an idea of what some laser etching would cost as his first phantom acrlyic prototype had the phantom logo laser etched in it. Depending on the design and cost I would be very interested. Also remember that acrylic comes in many colors and this does not have to be clear.

I don't want a $40.00 acrylic "roof", I want 20 form fitting covers like the "clam shell" plastic cover that comes on a Filco.  They are cheap but durable enough to last forever, they don't hide your custom key cap beauty and you can store your keyboard in it's original box with the cover on.  It's a perfect dust cover to thrown on your keyboard(s) when you leave the office and they are stackable; you can stack several in a desk drawer in the same space as one.

Okay, ONE pretty one just for show would be okay.  ;-)

THIS!

Why the hell doesn't HHKB ship with one like Filcos?!  And why don't Filcos have a replaceable USB cord?  Aside from those gripes they are both great keyboards.

PM me if a GB gets going. :-)

I would be interested in a sort of box.
The HHKB would fit exactly in it and the box would have a transparent lid you can open (it has hinges at the back).
Obviously you need holes for the USB connectors.

But I'll gladly take this :)
Switches tried so far
Cherry MX Red Blue Black Clear
ALPS White Black (fake)Blue
Montereys
ACER
White Black
Futaba
Buckling Sprin

When I carry a Filco or Leopold with it's clear ABS cover, but not in it's box, I call it a rubber band around each end.   That also holds the Filco cord in place.
