Lets play a game!
« on: Fri, 20 February 2015, 00:25:34 »
Hi Everyone,

I had been planning this for a while now and would like to contribute to this awesome forum for letting me learn all the stuff that im able to do. As some of you know, ive been casting caps and its been 6 months now since i started. If you knew about this hobby, starting off is a bit of a struggle especially on getting accustomed to your own style on how to cast this little keycaps with as little defects as you can.

As part of the process, you do a lot of experimentation on what can work and what wont also part of it includes mixing colors on what will looks nice and what dont. Doing that would give you a lot of extra caps that either you wont use or just give away.

So, i would like to create a new thread for that purpose only. Which is to have a dedicated space to give away some of my extra caps that i made but with a little effort and in a form of a game!

Now with the rules of the game.

- First of all, anyone can join. Either you are a hater or a not, you can join the game  :thumb:
- You can only win once per year  :p
- If you win, you will get the featured cap (Posted in the OP) + free shipping
- I would create a random game whenever i have the extra time and always post it in the OP
- The winner would be selected randomly
- Answers should be sent through PM with a subject "Lets play a game!"
- You can only send 1 answer per game
- Winners would be posted and tracked through the OP including their prizes

Ok, i have these 4 caps for give away and will do a mini game for each cap separately.

Game 1: (Completed)
Winner: BlueNalgene
More
Game: How many difference between the 2 picture

Prize: Red on Black Judgemental Skull MX stem

Game 2: (Completed)

Movie Poster:

Prize: hexashot Robocap Skull MX stem

Game 3: (Completed)

Winner: trizkut
More
Game: What's my age? Range(20-40)

Nice giveaway.  That said, that math problem needs parenthesis and clarification.  As is, it's not really easy to parse.

Is it supposed to be:  2x2+2x2+2-2x2

Or is it: (2x2)+(2x2)+2-(2x2)

Or is it: (((((2x2)+2)x2)+2)-2)x2

And why do the first two lines not equal anything?

And if the x is a variable, a x and X separate variables?

It might be easier if you use * for multiply and x for x

And I am also curious as to why the first lines don't equal anything

The goal is probably to find the good way to interpret the question, not be able to solve a simple mathematical expression. There's many way to interpret the question. Choose one and try!

What a great giveaway :)

I'm not going to enter this one in an attempt to win the purple Skull KRAP (hey, I can dream!) but I've come to an answer and hope the correct value will be posted along with the winner so I can check it.

Hi guys, yeah sorry for making it a bit tricky and complicated. Ill revise the question to a much simpler one. Dont want to give the impression on making it hard to attain a free cap  :-[

And just incase you guys want to know the answer, it should be written below and applying MDAS as a rule.

Question:
2x2+2x2+2-2x2
2+2-2x2+2+2X2
2/2x2-2+2+2-2 = X

Then combine:
2x2+2x2+2-2x22+2-2x2+2+2X22/2x2-2+2+2-2 = X

Then apply MDAS:
2x2+2x2+2-2x22+2-2x2+2+2X22/2x2-2+2+2-2 = -61

Uhhhh ... I guess?
Although I'm appreciative of your giveaway, this really made no sense if you put the shoe on the other foot.
I know you wanted to obscure this but the way you wrote this could mean quite alot of other things which I felt was the "trick" to the question.
It's hilarious because you actually inadvertently formed a 3x3 matrix so I gave you the determinant as an answer.
But now, I see that you were just messing with our parsing.

Really sorry about the first game. im just really obsessed in math and tricks which is kind of fun for me solving this kind of puzzles.

So i changed the 1st game with a simpler one, i hope. Just count the number of difference between the 2 pic and PM me the answer.

Yeah, I didn't know it had a name either. It was just banged into my brain during math class in elementary.

Also, ( <- That is not a bracket, the rest of the world. PARENTHESES. Say it with me: Parentheses. You can do it! Moving to Canada has driven me mad. We use those and brackets a lot at work and it results in a lot of issues with communication. That and we have a "zee" drive (z:\) that I call "zee." It's apparently "zed" here and I confuse them all the time.

ZEE DRIVE, IT DOES NOTHING!

Anyway.

What's a bracket then, { or [ ?  To me ( is a bracket, { is a curly bracket and [ is a square bracket.  Parenthesis is an alternate name for ( but it's a longer word so you'll never get people to use it.

Sorry to say we, the creators and namegivers of the language you claim to speak, also have "zed" drives so yes, you're saying it wrong :p  I wonder which they teach in non English speaking countries - which do you say Krytone?

I hope you don't mind the publicity caused by our OT ramblings, the thread was moved here :))

Lol, actually i found the difference in the pronunciation of "Z" depending on what country you are in. Since Malaysia have been influenced by UK (I think), they pronounce it as "ZED" but for countries influenced by USA, its "Zee". Just my experience going to other countries  :p

Ok, we have a number of people who got the answer right. The first one though that answered correctly and followed the rules is....

BlueNalgene
Correct answer is 5 difference

Sir BlueNalgene, pls pm me to discuss further the prize :)

Ok for the next game, im still thinking of what it should be and will update the OP once it is decided. Thanks to everyone who joined!

Hi guys, yeah sorry for making it a bit tricky and complicated. Ill revise the question to a much simpler one. Dont want to give the impression on making it hard to attain a free cap  :-[

And just incase you guys want to know the answer, it should be written below and applying MDAS as a rule.

Question:
2x2+2x2+2-2x2
2+2-2x2+2+2X2
2/2x2-2+2+2-2 = X

Then combine:
2x2+2x2+2-2x22+2-2x2+2+2X22/2x2-2+2+2-2 = X

Then apply MDAS:
2x2+2x2+2-2x22+2-2x2+2+2X22/2x2-2+2+2-2 = -61

 ;D

Um... but the rule is that you should apply division and multiplication left to right if there's no parentheses.

So that makes it:
2x2+2x2+2-2x22+2-2x2+2+2X22/2x2-2+2+2-2 = X
2x2+2x2+2-2x22+2-2x2+2+(((2X22)/2)x2)-2+2+2-2 = X
4    +4   +2-44   +2-4    +2+44                  -2+2+2-2 = 10
X = 10

Or actually, since there's a capital X in there, if you assume multiplication between touching values, we get:

2x2+2x2+2-2x22+2-2x2+2+2X22/2x2-2+2+2-2 = X
4+4+2-44+2-4+2 -2+2+2-2 = X-2X22/2x2
-34 = X-44X
-34 = -43X
X = 34/43

If you assume 2X22 means 2*X^22, then you get:
-34 = X-2X^22/2x2
-34 = X-2X^22

Um, which is a bit more, um, difficult... but let's try:
-2X^22 + X + 34 = 0
X = 1.1391477477508877 approximately.

For my first attempt I simply assumed the first 2 lines were not relevant since they were not part of the line with the "=". So they were not part of the equation. Thus X=2. Now where's my cap? ;)
Buying more keycaps,
it really hacks my wallet,
but I must have them.

I answered 10 first probably :p. Didn't realize the X was bigger, but didn't see any other way than for it to be a normal x. And yea, left to right, with x and / having priority over + and -, but well.

Game 2 is even harder than the original version of game 1, there is no clue as to what you have to do :))

I actually think I would have won cause I got 10, before my post which was the first on the topic.

Nope, that was game 1b after 1a was declared too confusing.  I don't think there's been a game 2 yet, he's just building the hype :))

Oh and I forgot to say congrats BlueNalgene :)
