People in the 1980s, in general, were clearly just better than we are now in every measurable way.

The dumber the reason the more it must be done

"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

Hihiii!

@idesu: Just noticed the quote in your forum profile. I hope you don't mind that I use it here as a much better way to answer this question than my first attempt..

Humph... Well it seems My2K was just as much of an anticlimax as Y2K. I totally missed it, even missed 2014. Well, 2030 is the year I will win a Nobel Prize so I guess that'll do.   :p

Just saw today I'm coming up on 1K.  I know that's small potatoes to most of you guys, but I was surprised to notice it was that high.

Passed 1000 now - congratulations :)

Are you going to request a star?

Is that like the little gold star stickers like when I was in Sunday School?  How do I request one?
I'm back.

You say "I want my star now!" and then you get one.  ;)  Keep in mind though that you get to choose between two different colours.

Congratulations :D
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada
