Keyboards / Re: Novel Features?
« Last post by Rhienfo on Wed, 15 May 2024, 19:37:51 »
It was actually hard to think of stuff like this because I'm pretty plain when it comes to my keyboards. Retractable feet on a keyboard you build could be novel, don't really see a point but like you might. And side buttons on the keyboard could be novel (and actually serve a purpose lol)

Hope this gives you some ideas.

I don't exactly champion it. I'd like a better one (which I guess exists). I'm using QGMLWB.

What's the benefit of putting L in the top row?. I feel like that would result in more hand movements because L is a pretty common letter used.

So.. what they're basically saying is H5N1 is essentially now endemic IN COWS.

This is a problem because cows, birds, humans now form an integrated vector trio.  The cows do not die from H5N1, so this virus will constantly evolve due to selection pressure to be omnipresent among the vectored species.

That's wonderful. So excited for the next episode of Pandemic.

"The continued presence of H5N1 in cattle poses significant risks, necessitating urgent and comprehensive measures to understand and mitigate its impact. As Leibler remarked, “H5N1 is with us. It’s not a virus that’s going to disappear by any means.”"

Interest Checks / Re: [IC] GMK Dragon Witch | GB DATE CONFIRMED!

Price for base kit has been adjusted to $130 due to fluctuating shipping costs from the GMK factory to vendors. The Novelties and Hiragana Alpha kits will remain at the prices set. There shouldn't be anymore surprises until the GB goes live.

WTH??

A study of 4,800 adults aged 40-80 years old, external, led by the University of Tor Vergata in Rome, and presented at the European Congress on Obesity, looked at an alternative - measuring body fat percentage.

Just 38% of the men and 41% of the women had a BMI above 30 - but when their body fat percentage was calculated using scans, 71% and 64% were found to be obese.

So the real-obesity rate is ~60-70% of the adult population in developed countries?

Italian medical is, considered top notch, so it's unlikely they messed this up.

23 predicted major named storms/hurric for 2024, vs the normal 17.

And that's conservative, other weather agencies are predicting up to 33.

Don't mess around people. Get RDY. Call grandma, bug-out bags at the door.

La nina transition typically makes for a busier season in the Atlantic than usual, this ontop of EXTREMELY warm water this year from el nino.

Keyboard Keycaps / Re: How to have a custom keycap set built?
« Last post by mk on Wed, 15 May 2024, 15:49:21 »
For one-off keycaps people usually go for either
- SLA Resin print
- Resin cast (by first either cnc'ing or 3d printing a mold)
- MJF 3d print

For legends, the more popular solution is to have incised text and manually apply resin infill to make the text clearer, but this is a time-consuming process.

Both SLA and MJF 3d prints can be ordered at reasonable prices online in high resolutions.

There is of course also more advanced means of making your own keycaps like the Keymacs-way, showed in the video above, but the up-front cost of the CNC machine alone is quite high - and the time investment arguably even higher.
