Hello and welcome to the GB for GMK Red Devils!

In case you don't already know, this set is based on the South Korean national soccer team and their official supporters club, the Red Devils. Although this team has achieved only modest success on the world stage, few things stir up Korean national pride and unity as supporting their team in a major tournament.

Kits

Base

The base kit has compatibility for the most popular layouts in the community, from 60% and up, and features the reworked icon mods introduced with GMK 8008/9009. It also includes accent options for Esc and Enter, F13, terminal ISO, and brand new 한자 and 한/영 sublegends on ALT and CTRL for complete Hangul support.



Hangul

This kit includes brand new molds for mono Hangul legends. NOTE: The primary legends (top left corner) have been slightly enlarged and bolded (compared to how they are as sublegends) to be more in line with cherry conventions. They will not however, be as bold as the standard Latin legends, as it would not look appropriate for Hangul.



Spacebars

This kit features odd-sized spacebars and a 2nd B/ㅠ and mono ㅠ for Alice layouts.



Taegukgi

The Taegukgi kit is a small novelty kit taking inspiration from the flag of South Korea. It adds a strong graphic element to the set and would also pair nicely with GMK Minimal.

FAQs

1. What is 대한민국? 대한민국 (Daehan Minguk) is a popular cheer used in sports. It is akin to the "U-S-A!" chant that Americans are fond of.

2. What do the symbols in the Taegukgi kit mean? These are trigrams, or 괘 (gwae), that you may recognize from the flag of South Korea. They actually can mean a myriad of things—including the cardinal directions. See below chart from Wikipedia:

In the Hangul kit, the right homing key with the bar is rendered as the ㅗ key (the 'H' key) instead of the ㅓ key (the 'J' key). Is this just an issue with the render that will be fixed in the final set?

Thanks for asking. Yes, we have already rejected 2 rounds of samples. They are getting closer with the hue, but the real issue is the lack of vibrancy in the color compared to the Pantone. As you may or may not know, the color was matched to the team's uniforms, which is a very vibrant pinky red. Round 3 is currently underway.

To be fair, Korea’s jersey hue changed every time a new design was released. They don’t have an identity in the red used. More of a Nike problem though. Their soccer jerseys are terrible in general.

Yes, they are getting closer. I think they should be able to nail it on this next round. I will share a pic of the final sample once approved.
