Stoked about the new TMO50! Got v1 in rose gold, but I need this in my life too. It's just an amazing layout and solid quality build all around.
Just one thing. Split left shift support.
As it now offers a 2.25u left shift and split right shift, why not offer a split left shift as well? It'd offer extra compatibility for ISO layouts where split left shift is widely used (usually for a variation of <>| symbols). And since the TMO50 has enough columns, it'd actually offer full compatibility for a Nordic Dvorak layout, which is afaik hitherto unseen in the 40% community.
I'm a Swedish ISO user and I find split left shift very comfortable to use and when I'm Linux-ing, I use it extensively for writing scripts in bash as it has the pipe symbol.
Unless there are pcb/electronic reasons for excluding it, would you consider adding support for it? I think it'd only add to the versatility of the board without having to make any deductions from it.
Just my two cents. I realize I noticed the IC/GB threads way too late and understand if it'd be difficult to make changes now.

90% in..but would still throw loads more money if the pc red version were available :(

Sorry about that but I wanted something special as the designer. No FE rounds this time so had to do a one-off for myself. Ruby Red aluminium looks :fire: as well in my eyes! Originally wanted that but I have never owned a polycarbonate board and still wanted that red.

Thanks ctrl for letting us know. We somehow skipped this over without much thought but it makes sense. Upas will add this and I'll change plate a bit. I myself am an ISO user most of my life so I can't leave ISO people hanging.

Yes, there's more photos here (https://imgur.com/a/Xt3b0FC)

Saw the prototypes in person last weekend. They are just drop dead gorgeous. The anodizing on the blue prototype is buttery smooth, with absolutely no flaw visible under naked eyes. No cracks/defects on the polycarb. They both feel great, and sound great. Nothing to complain about. Was also told phillips screws will get replaced by hex screws for the production run, so that's just niceeeee. Just a solid keyboard overall funderburker! I would be very surprised if this board doesn't sell out under one minute.

Hehe, that's great to hear man! Thank you for the nice words, warms my heart on this cold & snowy day in Latvia! :)
You are right about that, Hex over Phillips screws and also we changed out the case screws to be socket caps so they sit in deeper and are just nicer than countersunks.
Small details but that's just something that can always be improved upon!
All these small tweaks after we received prototypes makes me feel like I should get a production board as well. :p

By far the most enticing sub-60 board ever

24 hours until GB goes LIVE!
Here's a timer so you don't miss it! (https://www.timeanddate.com/countdown/taxday?iso=20191102T14&p0=769&msg=TMOv2+GB+launch&font=sanserif)
P.S. Extras will be available 10 hours prior to actual GB!
-
so if Plates and PC case bottom will only be added to base kit orders.... but the extras start 10 hours earlier... how does that work? if you get in on the FCFS extras but don't get a base kit does the order get cancelled or something?

Yeah, plates and PC case bottom are only eligible IF you win a base kit. They can be added to your cart prior just so you get a better change on getting in. PCBs are unlimited and stand-alone though.
This is done because - you don't need a plate or a PC bottom if you don't win a full board and PCBs are stand-alone cause then if you don't win you can still get a PCB and make your own case if you know how.
Plate files will be open-sourced over the weekend as well though so if that's nice. ;)

Smoky PC !!! Let's do thisssssss : )
What was the tentative shipping date for the TMOv2?

@funderburker do you know if millmax sockets are supported in this PCB?
Edit: for anyone else interested, I asked on discord and it sounds like it should.

CannonlKeys warns “tmo50 product should be less than or equel to 1”. But I still can pay. So I am in GB right?

I'm in at Mykeyboard.eu. I'm happy with this. Hope this GB goes well.

You should have received an email both confirming your entry into the GB as well as a secondary email prompting you to choose a color (if aluminum) or Smokey/clear if poly.

Is the red the R1 red? Or a red more similar to Burgundy red?
nvm, I saw the IC post.

Ah yes, another Funderburker board to add to my collection :thumb:

Was a tough choice cancelling yuri for this... not that tough though, beautiful work and thanks! First e-white board for me and its a legend

Does anyone know how fast this sold out?
-
I checked a couple times on cannonkeys. PC sold out within 20 minutes or so aluminum looks like it took a while longer but not sure how long.
-
It was up for a couple hours
Sent from my Pixel 4 XL using Tapatalk

A few still left on mykeyboard.eu! E-white is sold out, but alu and pc are still available. If the numbers mentioned on Discord are right, that just might be the last pc kit left.
Apparently the mail where one gets to choose color won't be sent until end of weekend from mykeyboard.eu.

I got mine from the Cannonkey after about four hours of the GB starts.

I asked this previously. No, there is no way to change it to a PC plate except from buying an extra.
But hey, you can always sell the brass plate in the future if you end up not liking it.
-
Hey people!
Unofficially I have information that all GB spots are sold so thanks to everyone who did get in for their TMOv2 and sorry to all of those that didn't!
Once we get all the statistics together, I'll share some relevant ones here!
Replying to some questions that arose here:
- Colour choice email forms from MyKeyboard.EU will probably go out over the weekend IF they haven't gone out already. I'm not a vendor so if you have any questions for them, please contact them via their Discord servers.
- Plate file will be uploaded to TMOv2's QMK repo once code for default keymapping will be released. It shouldn't take too long!
- And approximate shipping time would be middle of spring, more towards late April. We'll know better once everything's ordered from the factory.
-
Copped a PC from a canceled order. Let the wait begin!
-
Hey guys!
I truly apologize about no updates earlier but IRL responsibilities got me all tired in the evenings. But it's been 3 weeks already (!!!) since sale happened so it's probably best to give a heads up what's happening! Promise that I'll try and update in a timely manner from now on!
We sold out all 130 boards world-wide in about 4 hours! That's extremely impressive and I am truly shocked about it! I hoped that would happen but when it did, I screamed like a little girl. Very thankful for everyone that purchased a TMOv2!
So about the updates:
- We have put in the order to the factory so case & plate manufacturing is slowly starting. Once there's anything to show, we'll do so!
- Updated PCB prototypes have been received and Upas confirmed that it's good to go! He's currently working on firmware and will order them this week!
- Packaging has been thought about and samples are being made.
- Upas will soon order screws for cases & plates (gathering one big order with other keyboards).
- I'll be ordering stickers for all orders around holidays but before then I'll make a small poll about colours you'd like to get for one design.
- As for the clear "Frog on a log" artisan by SPARKLE PONY - we'll be adding them for all clear PC orders as promised. Still thinking what to do with the extras lol but that's strictly decided by the artist himself.
-

I don't find it surprising at all. It's a pretty unique board which strikes a clever balance between minimalism and functionality unlike anything else out there in the <60% segment.

I was getting pessimistic before GB launch because of the slightly quiet GB thread and not seeing a lot of discussion about TMOv2 so I didn't know what to expect. Would it sell out in a few seconds, couple hours or over the weekend? But I gotta agree that TMO is truly a in-between sized board. From using a 40% and 60% boards, TMO strikes a good balance between size and functionality. I really got to build my proto!
Congratulations on amazing buying period!
Thanks Dexie!

Update 20191216
I gotta apologize once again for some silence. I hope to be a bit more frequent once 2020 starts.
So let's get to the small updates:
- All hardware has been sent to the factory.
- Boards have been ordered, and we are waiting on machining.
- We have approved packaging samples and will be making an order.
- I'll make a voting form for sticker designs during holidays. The plan is to order them early to mid-January.
Onto a big one. There's no easy way to put this but we've had to make a compromise regarding polycarbonate TMOv2 cases. Our factory messaged us about their concerns that the polycarbonate cases could be prone to warping if we don't add 4 additional case screws. I had to make the decision that all polycarbonate cases will come with 8 screws while aluminium counterparts will stay unchanged with only 4 case screws, one on each of the case corners.
I understand that some of you (me included) really like the clean angled back without any visible screw holes but it's a compromise both I and also the factory is willing to make to offer a better product in the end for everyone. This change does not change the feel of TMOv2 in any way, only changes the aesthetic of the board when viewed from the back.
One last thing I would like to mention is that due to this, people that have ordered an aluminium version of the board and have ordered polycarbonate bottom as extra will have some inconsistency between the parts - aluminium top will still have 4 case screws on the corners and polycarbonate bottom will have 8 case screws rendering the 4 middle one to be left empty. This, however, won't impact the integrity of the build as the issue mostly stems from polycarbonate top becoming warped and not the bottom.
As we did order prototypes in a timely manner and had them on-hand before GB order was made I can assure that I received a great polycarbonate case that didn't show any issues but keep in mind that it's a one-off and not one of tens of PC boards that will be made during GB so before making multiple it's hard to settle on a fail rate number. We trust in the factory that if they're letting us know early on about a potential issue down the road that it's best to resolve it now before real production has started.
For everyone that has ordered a full PC TMOv2, I am truly sorry but I would like to ship a board that has no structural issues even if it means changing it visually.
Please see model photos underneath:

I think most of us who ordered PC are aware of the additional manufacturing challenges. This seems like a pretty reasonable (and desirable) compromise to me.

they looking real nice!

If any of those aluminium ones come off as 'B-stock' because of bumps/scratches/etc I'd be more than happy to buy one un-finished. They look really good in raw metal.
-
Round 2 is an option ?
-
Is it still possible to get a poly-carbonate plate anywhere?
-
Round 2 is an option ?
Possibly but we still need to finish R1 first. Possible that there'll be some extras after this round ends.

They really do! But the factory isn't sending out raw metal ones and I believe that anything they let through as B-stock would be redone during manufacturing anyway.
Is it still possible to get a poly-carbonate plate anywhere?
Possibly during extras after GB ends but the plate files will be open-sourced. Should share those but don't know where exactly. QMK repo doesn't seem fitting for that.

So looking forward to this board I already bought the switches and stabilizers from zeal :-X

Is anyone else who ordered a polycarb case thinking of ways to add LEDs to show current layer?
-
Update 20200118Heya... Apologies for the month-long silence.
- All GB PCBs have been delivered to Upas
- Case manufacturing is on-schedule and anodization is done. E-white and PC boards are nearing the end of manufacturing as well. No delays up to this point, let's keep it that way! ;D
- TMOv2 will be VIA compatible and Upas has confirmed that it's very close to being "supported" officially.
- Plate and weight files are HERE (https://drive.google.com/open?id=1ic8eYAH4Zjk2shd9wHmYM_1vp9FCl4fz)
Also - With the help of RealLaugh (thanks, mate!) I have couple of designs for the "Here we go boys..." sticker. Go
HERE (https://forms.gle/akfr7BuTjMHBVJM49) to vote on your favourite colourway/-s! I'll keep this open for a month or so.
On a side-note, I'm very thankful for everyone that is waiting for their board/-s. I've been using mine ever since I built it up during Christmas holidays and it's been a treat to use. If anyone is interested in the keymapping I use, here it is.

To nathanchere - there's 22 RGB LEDs as underglow so firstly I'd suggest programming those to work as indicators. Could look cool if maybe a bit too much to have them on all the time. :D
-
any updates? I'm *still* working on my preferred layout but hope to have it ready by the time the keeb is in my hands.

Hey!
Unfortunately not really updates as our factory in China has stalled work until February 17th due to Covid-19.
As far as we know most of the boards have been produced and was about to be QC'd and packed for shipment.
Covid-19 has delayed GB a bit but we're on track with ETA as we added a "safety net" on it from the start.
Also regarding the stickers. I closed the form just now (I forgot about it, my mistake).
So there's a tie between 9009 and Dualshot. I like both of the colourways so it's even harder to chose between them. WoB I is a close second.
Given there's already a "TMO" logo sticker planned in both white and black, I'd prefer to choose one colourway for "Here we go boys...".
-
just realized 1.5u 7u 1.5u would have fit on this for a bottom row :( too late, but for next round .o.
-
Omg this looks so cute funderburker. Great work!!
-
Update 2020303
There hasn't been any news from the factories due to SARS-CoV-2 outbreak but they're slowly starting to work in a smaller capacity.
- Most of the anodized boards are done.
- Some E-white boards still need to be finished but factory out-sources this and their supplier isn't open yet.
- PC cases are CNC'ed but need to be dyed.
- Factory contact person is getting back on Wednesday so Upas will find out any further updates regarding the timeline only then.
- I'm working on getting the stickers made somewhere locally for both vendors as it would be most convenient for them. Final colourways are: 1x black & 1x white TMO logo, 1x 9009 colourway "Here we boys..." sticker.
- Artisans by Sparkle Pony will soon be shipped to vendors so they have them when it's shipping time.

Thanks for the update funderburker!
-
+1. An update even just to say 'no news' is still a pulse and much appreciated, thanks.
-
Any updates? Is this one still on track? Thanks.
-
Update 2020323
We're waiting primarily on the e-white ones to finish - we don't have an ETA, but we hope they'll be done sometime in April, as initially planned.
Stickers have been ordered and artisans for all clear base kit orders will be sent out to vendors sometime this week.
Be safe,
funderburker

TY for update. Obviously nothing you can do and it's unrealistic to not expect delays at this point. I'm sure the TMO's will be well worth the wait! :thumb:

Thanks for the understanding. :)

The Frog on a Log artisans have shipped to their vendors today. I want to apologise for taking so long to ship, things have been crazy at work with this whole Coronavirus thing. They should still arrive before the boards however.
-
Cannonkeys latest update on timeline:
TMOv2 - Late April to Early May
Not too bad all things considered.

Thanks for this info. As it stands, it was planned that TMOs would ship around late April/early May anyway as we did take into account possible delays (not of this degree though). As it stands now, I think the latest info was that the factory is doing QC but that was a little over a week ago. Given the holidays I need to check in with Upas on the status but it seems promising! :)

Update 2020424
HERE WE GO BOYS...
I've been informed from Upas that factory has QC'd everything, remade a few brass parts that were lost somewhere in-the-process and are about to ship everything out to vendors! I have no information when shipments will reach vendors so keep an eye out on their social channels BUT I'd like to add that please be patient and don't ask them every day where's your TMOv2. :D Slighty joking, slightly serious!

- MyKeyboard.EU Discord server (https://discord.gg/rmu8Gh4)
Stickers have been made and patiently awaiting their chance to be put inside your package as well the artisans for clear PC base kit orders. Rooting for a safe and problem-free last steps so y'all can get your TMOs!

Super excited for it ;D
Will probably have some level of delay due to Covid-19, but it’s over step closer now!

As an observer, it's been really nice to see the progress of this and how well you've kept your GB participants updated, routinely and with detail. Runners take note!
Hope to see pics of these soon from the buyers!

Thanks for the kind words! I just try to update once there's anything worthy to mention and being transparent on any issues if there's any.
Even a small update once a month seems to be enough just to remind people about this GB.

NA orders are still in China, they've been shipped but due to COVID-19, shipping has been slow.
If other vendors receive their boards, you can use that as an indicator that the products have shipped, but that's about all.
If we're lucky, we will get them in this week and be able to ship them out! But even the estimates I receive from shipping companies typically fly by and get delayed frequently.

Just FYI for anyone else modifying or planning on using the plate files, it's scale is x16 so make sure you scale it down x16 before you actually get a plate made.

Is it? I've exported it straight from my CAD software and it shouldn't have changed physical dimensions.

It was when I opened it up in fusion. Instead of the switch cutouts being 19.05 mm they were 304.8 mm.

Damn, that seems a tad incorrect. :D I'll check up on what I can do. Or at least add a disclaimer.

Have sent a quick message to you regarding my order funderburker, I haven't ever used geekhack and nothing shows up in my sent items so idk if I'm just being an imbecile here or what.
E-white looks gorgeous by the way.

Hi. I replied to you, please check your PMs under "Messages".

Looks great. I want buy extra.... T.T pls...
-
got mine in today... daaaaang e-white looking real nice.
For some reason I bought (in addition to the e-white kit) an extra poly bottom, PCB and plate, but not an extra top... I can't remember what I was thinking.. maybe a lighter travel board or alternate layout? was there a poly top option? My mental failings aside, this is slick! thanks for putting together a 2nd round.

Look under add-ons on the first page of this thread. Extra bottom was just an add-on option for people that wanted underglow.

I know *how* it happened... just not sure *why*. I probably figured I could switch the top back and forth...

I'm having difficulties flashing mines. QMK Toolbar detects it, but when clicking Flash, it would say no devices detected

Is this due to my computer not having the proper drivers?
Thanks.

Sounds more like you aren't going into the bootloader before you're attempting to flash.

Thanks for letting me know! Set to 1 and got into DFU mode.
When flashing, it doesn't detect the DFU.
I've got all the drivers installed, qmk toolbox updated them upon opening.
Is the MCU atmega3232u4?
Thank you!

I apologise for my ignorance - is this group buy now done? Or will it be available to order in November.

Hey man, unfortunately the group buy happened last November. The units are currently shipping out, there may be extras that would go up after all the gb units ship.

The MCU is STM32, you'll likely have to use zadig on windows to get the proper drivers installed for it.

One last update (probably) [2020-07-03]
First of all, I'd like to thank each and every one of you for the support during the GB phase and also for being a wonderful group of people that enjoys your boards. A lot of you that have received your boards, be it from Cannon Keys, MyKeyboard.eu or AEBoards, have shared great photos and builds and each one of the boards has been just awesome! I truly feel proud of how this GB has happened and how happy and excited a lot of you have been to receive your own "tiny mechanical object".
Secondly, for the people that for some reason haven't had the chance to get your hands on one, there's a chance for you TOMORROW (Saturday, July 4th at 11 AM ETS) on Cannon Keys (https://cannonkeys.com/) as there's gonna be some extras and B-stock, as well as extra add-ons for those of you that have a TMOv2 but wants to get a PCB, plate or PC bottom. ;) If you want to be up-to-date and just chat about the board and have any other questions about extras, please visit Cannon Keys Discord server (https://discord.gg/FskZhMr).
Again - thank you for the wonderful reception and this has truly been a big thing for me and is very motivating to keep doing what I can only call my biggest accomplishment thus far. This hobby and the community means a lot to me and it's been a great journey for me and hopefully for y'all too!
Peace and stay safe,
funderburker

Thanks for all the help! I was able to flash it.
For anyone interested, I set the dip switch to 1 and had zadig opened up, then plugged in the pcb. It was able to recognize and install the drivers.
After that, you can flash it normally as any other qmk compatible pcb. I set mines up with VIA after watching Nathan's (Taeha Types) stream.
