....yep, it´s pretty great being single and starting to overcome being overly pedantic about every aspect of my living space, just the main setup i´m still not to found about having a mess around.

like that you have cables everywhere :)

well, my pedantic side kinda died when i moved here, it's the first apartment i don't own and thereby haven't renovated to the standard i'm used to, so function over form since some cables hardly make the place worse than it is :P

though the bedroom picture's isn't up to date and was somewhat of a temporary solution until i got more cat6  cable to add another connection to the wall socket :P
black powercable are still there though, friggin old house without a single outlet in the hallway where i have my nas and network stuff >_<

Is that a Dell UltraSharp? I'm torn between getting an ultrawide monitor like that or sticking with one 27" and a smaller one in portrait view. :-\

Yes it is.  Very nice.  I saw the LG ones and these in person before making my mind, but all Dell monitors are good nowadays.  I was going to get an Asus 4k or this.  Glad I got an ultrawide. With tax and shipping it was 885

Not too bad. I've been looking at them in person as well but I'm still sort of torn. I feel like I don't want to commit to something that big, as well as something that expensive. Also I just spent a bunch of money making my desk, so that certainly factors in on the price  :))

Really the only problem I had with my alienware (15") was that is was obviously on the heavy side. Also the keys felt a little odd, pretty wide which kinda screwed with my typing for a while after

Im in a Hotel just like that. The entire room is made of concrete. The building was apparently an old corn packaging plant repurposed a few years ago.

It was actually very easy. I build a few of them as a gag for an old reddit "keyboards at art" contest re ran to get some "stock" pictures. All I did was get pegboard, cover it in the pattern burlap and glue that to the pegboard, then make a border wiih 2x4's in the front and 1x2's in the back (to allow the pegs to go through and not hit the wall) that sandwiched the pegboard in the middle.I just stained it with some stain I found in the garage and that was it. Took about an hour or so.

The husbando and I finally assembled our desks! They're made of two 2.5' x 5' pieces of butcher block and galvanized steel pipe and fittings. These things are heavy as ****, weighing around 150 pounds each. While these were a pain to put together, we're very happy with the outcome. I'll post more pictures once we put our PCs on them, we are still waiting on our monitors to get here.

Fantastic - I like a nice solid desk :)

Not worried that you'll bang your legs on the bar underneath?
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

That's where the feet go! (Shin guards also recommended)

I have long legs, and I would totally be banging my legs on those all the time :))

Plus I often tend to have my chair a fair way under the desk while typing.

That was all I could think about when I saw the pics.   :-X   Does not look friendly to talls.   :(

Still looks like an amazing desk, Seranite.  :)  I love how thick and big it is.   :thumb:

Correct, ImpendingxDoom that is where the feet go. Actually that whole bar is adjustable. We can slide it up or down/forward or backward where ever we prefer. I'll probably keep mine where it is while he will likely end up adjusting his since he's rather tall.

Thank you all for the kind words! We put a lot of consideration, time, effort, and money into this thing! I'll probably post another picture of the final setup tomorrow or Wednesday.

Having a blank desk all ready for equipment is fantastic!  I used to clear my desk off and set everything up fresh every few months a while back.  Been a while since I've had the time to do that though :))

10/10 would recommend butcher block for desk top.

Monitors are finally here so here's how everything looks right now on the desks, I do apologize for my horrible picture taking skills!

We still need to work on cable management and I still need a buy a new chair. I left my old computer chair in WV because it killed my back, so if anyone has any suggestions for a chair that alleviates, or just doesn't cause back pain that'd be great! Right now I'm having a tough time getting used to the monitors. We used to use two 32" tvs as monitors and now we're using Acer XB270HUs which are 2560 x 1440, so everything is so damn tiny on the screen.

This is what the rest of the room looks like, as you can see we're kinda using this room to put boxes with stuff that we have no place for. In the future I want to build a large shelf that will sit on front of that wall to hold all of our games, action figures, and books. We probably won't (or shouldn't) build it out of butcher block and steel pipe because it would be heavy as nuts. So for the time being all of our cool stuff is kind of just sitting in boxes waiting to be put on shelves and hung on the walls. This is, however, a start and it's nice to be able to use my desktop instead of the inferior laptop or tablet.
