Can you add a centered 6u spacebar to the spacekit? If you are going to add duplicates you may as well extend compatabilityWell if more people request it why not, but ATM i don't see the point in adding one since only a few people are using it, and reaching MOQ is kinda hard for a custom color, so i'm carefull about the pricetag.

Here's some changes I'd make to reduce base cost, from least extreme to most.
Remove/move to another kit:

Really like the look if the colors can be done as in the renders. A few requests:
1) VIM keys. They would look great in that green.
2) Icon + text modifiers (in a kit if you like)
The thing is that custom colors = Higher MOQ, and if we add more kits, or more keys to the existing kits, price will be higher and we probably won't reach the MOQ, some people requested the WASD kit aswell, some people want NORDE kit... so same thing for the Text modifiers, i really really like them, but since the majority prefere the icon mods only i have to stick with it, and proposing it as a kit won't probably work, sorry but i can't satisfied everyone ^^".
Colours look incredible. Does remind me a bit of solarized dark but prefer the lime green accents here vs the teal accents in solarized dark. If the colours turn out as good irl would be a definite in.

I totallly get your point, but i also take in consideration my own experience, being a student don't always let you a lot of money to purchase the "whole kit" with the novelties and stuff, that way people who don't care of the novelties don't pick them, and those who are low on the budget can still pick the set and purchase the novelties after market and something.
For an icon kit i'll take that in consideration.
Will you consider making an international kit? Alt Gr?

Yea just some suggestions. Glad to hear icon mods were taken into consideration. Whatever you end up with I'm sure it will be for the best benefits of the community. Good luck and honestly I cannot wait for this, especially with the custom colors and all. Any expected timeline yet? I feel like this set is one of those sets that can just move to GB phase fairly quickly after getting so much hype lol. Gotta take advantage while the hype train is still boarding for passengers lol.

Oblivion was text only, outside of MD, and it did justfine. And OP has mentioned his personal preference to text only. Also it matches .flac and .wav novelties better.

Where the novelty kit is at, even if the arrows are included, it is still very approachable if you add a few more in. The base kit right now is sensible if you're not adding any more keys so the price will be at a low even if you grab both kits together.

I personally would recommend not having the novelties spread among several kits. For the actual number of keys in each of the current kits you're going to suffer more from GMK's flat kit cost and potential MOQ issues than I would say is worth it. I would say that the large majority of people willing to spend past the base kit to pick up a novelties kit would be more willing to pay a little bit more to get a more comprehensive single kit than they would be picking up two smaller kits at GMK's pricing. I also just don't think that you're going to see enough people picking up only one or the other to justify the split either. Ultimately the choice is up to you, but I'd recommend trying to get pricing for both configurations and polling for interest on them before making a decision on them that will affect their potential to make it to MOQ.

Maybe tone down the saturation on the neon green just a bit? This set could look great (reminds me of green Solarized Dark), just needs the green to not be so off the chart. If this is 100%, bring it down to about 85%, yeah?
Well the renders are very bright as you can clearly see so IRL it will be less "flashy" if i can say, but still neon ;)

I like the idea of pause/back/next keys because they could actually be useful, but I think the flac/wav keys would be better as PLAY/STOP or something. But then the arrow keys would be icons, and the others would be text so, dunno. Just IMHO. :thumb:

I really like the colors, but the novelties aren't really doing it for me. Mostly the Esc and Enter keys.
I like the idea of pause/back/next keys because they could actually be useful, but I think the flac/wav keys would be better as PLAY/STOP or something. But then the arrow keys would be icons, and the others would be text so, dunno. Just IMHO. :thumb:
play/stop would create a duplicate (the pause keycap) and won't be that intuitive IMO.
Would be also nice if you could elaborate your opinion on the novelties, if it's only the esthetic you don't like or if those are incoherent for you… or whatever ;)

I think this is probably the worst idea possible since most of the people don't use the same keys for media controls, especially me so no i won't consider that option.

It could reach MOQ. Look at GMK Modern Dolch. It hit 250 MOQ before the final deadline and they only extended it by a week to see if they can reach 500 MOQ.

The norbaforce has a taller bezel in the top so it's not that. I was wondering if it's a render of the Rama U80-A but in a darker shade that hasn't been shown yet.

As you clearly can see I added a lot more kits to what was originally planned, I didn't want to limit myself to the typical combo : Base set + novelties + spacebars, I wanted to give you guys a ton of possibilities to have THE set that will perfectly fit your tastes and obviously, your layout of choice.
For the base kit I decided to not put the icon mods and put it as another kit since several people, and includding myself prefered the base kit with text modifiers. I also made the decision to exclude ISO from the base kit, I'm sorry for the ISO users (even myself) but most of the people don't use ISO, so I found it was kinda cool to have a cheaper base set, and the ISO kit will only cover ISO UK. For alphas i decided to do a Gajin and Kobe kit that looks fantastic in my opinion, and since that set is audio related, I had to include elements that refere to Japan :).
I also thought about you 40% and Ergo users ! You guys gave so much love to that set that i had to make a kit for you, so as you can see it will be done, but I'm not sure on the exact keys those kits will include, but they will be made 100%
Finally, what you guys asked for, the novelties. u/Biip did an amazing job and you guys clearly loved that because I got so many comments from you saying that I should make more novelties, and i decided to make that HUGE novelties pack, and I hope you'll like it. Apart from that 2 rama keycaps will be made, one with Moon anod with glow in the dark infill, and another one without infill made out of brass.
So as you can see i clearly did my best to make most of you guys happy, and offering you a ton of possibilities, but as you probably already guessed, I can't run that many kits via vendors, they will never reach MOQ ; for that specific reason, my plan is to run this set on massdrop, so if you guys are excited about that set, and want to support it, feel free to vote on that massdrop poll and give me your thoughts or questions in the comments !Thanks a lot for all your support, and thanks again to my wonderfull friends u/Biip and u/Janglad to make that set even better, I can't wait for your feedback guys:) ~

Tbh there is already enough keys in that kit, and most of the layout use a 7U rather than a 6u, so i really don't want to disapoint you but i won't consider it unless a ton of people ask for it.
I personnally prefered including a second 6.25 and an other 7u since they tend to become very shiny, so if you want to sell the set, or use a spacebar that isnt shiny, it is possible :)
Huge props on the Japanese kits. One concern I have is that without the hiragana small sublegends (like those on Serika) the kit doesn't look too "genuine", as in a real and functional Japanese keyboard. Hope that can me amended if possible. Now that I think about it, Laser suffered from the same fault.
I also really like the decision to go for text mods for the base kit. Icon mods can go in their own kit for those weidos who prefer them ;)

Yes, I can understand why MD is the choice, but this keeb world is alive since 5 years and is a mess that for a gmk keyset it have to travel from Germany to USA and then to Europe for who bought it... I hope this change one day

A couple of 1u novelties in each row profile really helps with coverage too, though I would expect those to go in a novelty kit and not an ortho kit.
Not any other novelties will be added.

it's more that enough to cover most of boards like leopold and 65 yeah.
For the numpad you will actually be surprised but a ton of people use it, either for a separate numpad, a macro pad and stuff, i wanted to remove it but a lot of people told me to not, so i ended up let that numpad :).

That's probably the exact reason why. If they don't enforce MOQ and they still make the kit then maybe they're losing money? They feel obligated to make the kit so that the 25-30 people don't pull out of their base kit orders. Anyway, I say what's the harm, just raise the price so you don't lose money and let those who really want specialty kits pay what needs to paid. A Dvorak or Colevrak kit doesn't take buyers away from other kits since you can never fill a keyboard with just those kits -- it just adds to the potential pool of people who will jump on the base kit.

Sounds burned out and quite salty from Violet Tendencies and Solarized Dark. On the other hand, GMK Taro, Led Zep, Laser (ton of doubt for Laser) and Oblivion all turned out really accurate.

Slate is a perfect match for my dark grey klippe and my next board is gonna be made of polycarbonate so a dark keyset won't go well with it (in my opinion). I could get this and flip it on the aftermarket but I don't know if I'd be able to live with myself

Would it be possible to have 1 1.75u novelty? I know it’s a long shot, but many of us love 65% and 1.75u is rare yet would be very cool
I mean the novelty kit is already HUGE and i really don't see the point of using a 1.75u novelty, IMO it won't look very good, you want that for the Shift key right ?
I really don't see the point of that novelty if you already have the Enter novelty, I'll think about it, but I can't promise you that it will happen. :D

My $0.02. I am not defending Enjoy but I'm very good friend with him so I know he's been working alot behind the scene on this set. Seeing your work being potentially stolen by someone else is definitely not easy to swallow so I can definitely understand his frustration. I also think ignorance is not an excuse-just because you don't know texting when driving is illegal doesn't mean you can and should do it. If its like a set that's been buried for years then I can understand, but Wavez is still very much fresh off the oven. Plus it seems to me all the proposed sets keyset (https://imgur.com/a/hgzYSmb) were all similar to previous IC's one way or the other (i.e. 2049 Nights vs Miami Nights, Leviathan vs Wavez, 2049 vs Hyperfuse Origins, Gold and Blue Dolch vs donutcat's Skiidata, Calm Lavender vs donutcat's Lavender Fields, etc.) Throwing out a bunch of keysets and ask for a poll definitely rings me some bell (https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/thevankeyboards/hub-mechanical-keyboard-key-caps).

I absolutely understand Enjoy's frustration, but I want to clarify that the main subject of my comment was not in regards to how SA Leviathan and the other SA sets you've mentioned came about. I was commenting on the demeanor that EnjoyMyInSec proceeded with after it was made clear that the set has been shelved indefinitely. It's one thing to feel the frustration, and another to lash out with it. That's the line between professionalism and unprofessionalism.

I was on the fence of getting this set and then saw the SA IC and was super excited. Again, I don't have anything against the fact you defended your set, but I do about the way you did it...
Heck... You could have partnered with the guy and ran the SA version together, that's what I did for GMK Monochrome! One thing I wanted to ask - osrry if this has been asked before:
About the latin + japanese legend kit - did GMK agree on running that? Because back when I checked with them for Oasis, they told me that the only way to get that produced would be to run that in the main kit (hence why Zambumon ran it in the core kit of Serika). I really like the mix and having it as an option is always good, but I never understood GMK's policy there.

They are certainly different enough to have both of them run and they will appeal to different people based on profile, cost, kits, colors, legends. It’s unreasonable to think that you have cornered the market on bright green accents.
I would hope you would do the right thing and let him move forward with his set as well. I can totally understand the initial frustration, but man after looking at it more and talking with the other person you should be able to be rational and see that they obviously were not just making a copy of your IC. Just to be very clear, while Wei was very interested in running this set, he understands that he needs my permission to proceed. I told him that I am not interested in running it without the okay from the Wavez GB runners and he has honored that. Wei is a really good guy.
I agree with the comments that this is more similar to Terminal, as that was my direct inspiration, but I see the similarities when side-by-side with Waves and I don't want to step on anyone's toes or be "that guy". Making keycaps is a fun thing for me and I don't want to taint that experience with drama and ill feelings towards my sets or the way I run my ICs.
Enjoy's baby is an awesome set, and it is obvious that a ton of work and love went into it. I'd really like to keep this thread on track and have the conversation focused on Wavez.

Someone posted an IC for a vaguely similar looking set on mechmarket, and the designer of this set went in the thread and expressed his displeasure.

All is well that ends well. Just wondering if its too late to split numpad from the base? See GMK Jamon on MD. Gives more options and helps lower the price as not everyone may want a full set. If the demand is high, then higher sales will result in lower prices due to MOQ break point and should even out any $ difference for full set kit.

It's actually worse than that. He basically discouraged OCM from running anything for a few months. OCM said he was going to take a break and maybe come back to do a Maxkey set of some sort later on.
OP killed any motivation from OCM to continue with Leviathan, which is BS.

As a random person who has been following this IC for quite a while now and looking forward to it, I don't think too highly at all of Enjoy's comments over on mm, but, I can understand someone under pressure letting their emotions get the best of them. What I can't understand is developing a product without doing any market research - surely would-be designers should at least have a basic awareness of what else is out there atm, no?This is what I don't understand. Not everyone who starts off developing products, especially keycap sets, has a lot of experience within the community. Hell, I hadn't started browsing GeekHack until I got a couple of board through browsing Reddit. Wavez has been in IC for a while, someone else made a set that looked similar that can detract sales, this happens relatively often to my knowledge, but the important thing is to respectfully and professionally ask the vendor who got there second to respect the sales and business of the original IC, not lash out publicly (or privately) at the other person.

And I think that some people (myself included) see that even the "simple designer's" words and actions can effect the success of a group buy. Sucks for the partners but business is business and the designer's images effects the general image of the product just as much as the vendors would.

I don't think people are too concerned about who is running the buy/handling the money, but more about supporting a designer and their actions. When you support a designer and their keyset you are bringing their hard work and vision to life. If you are a aspiring keyset designer then I imagine that it would be a big deal to have one of your concepts actually come to life and have hundreds of people enjoy it.
In this case, Enjoy has taken away OCM's chance at realizing that goal with Leviathan and supporting Waves means you are doing so at the expense of Leviathan.

I understand that Enjoy isn't going to be the vendor, but I don't think it makes much of a difference. Enjoy is still going to be involved in the process and that's the risk. Any number of things could happen and the rest of us would suffer.

Seriously, can we get this thread back on track to the actual topic of discussion? GMK Wavez. Not SA Leviathan. And not some thread on reddit. I don't know why the mods were so quick to mess around with the holy gsus threads and not this one. I'm more interested in things like cost, coverage, kits, novelties, and color-matching. This is an interest check thread about the design of a gmk set, not a biopic of the OP.
Coming in here just to complain about the designer and declare your choice to no longer participate in the group buy is borderline thread crapping.

Folks, I think we are over reacting here. Both impacted parties have had a heart to heart. Not sure why everyone is still hung up on it. There was no guarantee that SA Leviathan would have made it in the end. Even though we may miss SA on this colour scheme, who knows in future both of these designer could collaborate for SA drop? Lets take a step back, many of us werent even aware of the SA IC and participated in this one, lets not kaibosh the designer and set to failure if both parties at stake have burried the hatchet. Not agreeing with how it was handled, but its understable and again THE AFFECTED PARTIES HAVE ALREADY CLEARED bad blood amongst themselves.None of that helps the fact that the community is missing out on a set because Enjoy thinks he has a patent on bright green.
The fact that the leviathan creator is being a stand up person and acting like it is no big deal doesn’t change the fact that enjoy has no right to tell them they can’t design a set. Wavez reminds me a lot of toxic or terminal or nautilus nightmare but none of those designers are going off on enjoy about running a set.
Enjoy needs to get off the high horse and do the right thing and let them run leviathan until then I don’t see why we should let enjoy off the hook.

Folks, I think we are over reacting here. Both impacted parties have had a heart to heart. Not sure why everyone is still hung up on it. There was no guarantee that SA Leviathan would have made it in the end. Even though we may miss SA on this colour scheme, who knows in future both of these designer could collaborate for SA drop? Lets take a step back, many of us werent even aware of the SA IC and participated in this one, lets not kaibosh the designer and set to failure if both parties at stake have burried the hatchet. Enjoy may have lashed out not to everyones liking, but who hasnt made similar mistake when feeling something they poured their heart in may be copied by someone else. Not agreeing with how it was handled, but its understable and again THE AFFECTED PARTIES HAVE ALREADY CLEARED bad blood amongst themselves.None of that helps the fact that the community is missing out on a set because Enjoy thinks he has a patent on bright green.
The fact that the leviathan creator is being a stand up person and acting like it is no big deal doesn’t change the fact that enjoy has no right to tell them they can’t design a set. Wavez reminds me a lot of toxic or terminal or nautilus nightmare but none of those designers are going off on enjoy about running a set.
Enjoy needs to get off the high horse and do the right thing and let them run leviathan until then I don’t see why we should let enjoy off the hook.

Preface
First, I would like to officially announce that Massdrop will no longer be the vendor for this set as originally intended. It pains me to see it turns out this way, but unfortunately Massdrop and I could not find a common ground in our final agreement, and hence this is the way it must go. It has been a blast to work with them during these past couple months, and I wish Yanbo nothing but the best in his endeavor and future projects!
With that out of the way, I would like to credit and acknowledge all the help that has been involved in this project. I would like to thank Biip and Janglad for the tremendous amount of quality work they put in this project. Thanks to Otanishock for all his support and contribution to kit revising and format editing. Thanks to David from CandyKeys for being the vendor and for all his work waiting ahead post Group Buy in order to bring this set to you. But above all, thanks to all of you – everyone, especially all those who were here since day one when this set was just a conception. Thank you for all your contribution and suggestion! This set could not be nowhere near where it is today without all your unconditional help and support. I really appreciate everything!
Without further ado, let’s get to the part where everyone is most excited for 😊.
Base Kit :
I have decided to configure the base kit with Icon Mods/Text Mods bottom row with basic ISO support. I feel this configuration truly captures the minimalist theme of the set which I am hoping for while stilling maintaining decent coverage for most popular layouts!

The Numpad! Yes I made the final call to split the numpad away from the base kit. This was not an easy decision, but I feel this would serve the best benefit to our community.

It is unfortunate that since this set is no longer available on Massdrop, I have to cut corners towards the novelties kit. Some of the extra keys from original novelties mockup have been removed in order to keep pricing in bound.

Kobe:
Similar to the novelties situation as explained above, it is impossible for me to offer both alpha kits in this drop due to pricing and MOQ issues. My apologies to all the folks who voted for the Gaijin kit, but Kobe pulled ahead in the poll and so this is where it has to be.

I don’t feel any modification towards the spacebar kit is necessary so it would remain as is.

Ortho/Ergo/40% :
My sincere apologies to all the ortho/ergo/40% users! Unfortunately, I cannot offer support for your layout due to MOQ issues. As I do not want to put the strain on the vendor and force them to forebuy all these kits to push MOQs, I have decided to cut them entirely from the drop. Believe me that was a very hard decision to make, but I hope you will all understand.
Conclusion :
So here you go guys, that’s it! We’ve come far, and now it’s time to let it shine! Please let me know if you’d want to see any final change before we wrap up and move on to the Group Buy phase. The novelties kit is really robust. If there isn't a dedicated ortho wavez group buy later on then I think I can make do with just the base, novelties and spacebar kits. As long as there's a 2u spacebar somewhere in there.

if you just assume a 40s kit won't make it you'll **** it up and it'll fail

Yep, IMO this set doesn't make much sense to buy without the awesome novelties :thumb: You'll have to combo them with some text because there's not enough for standard bottom row but it should work.

I actually found something better with RAL colors, I'm trying to see with GMK if i can get IRL samples before announcing something about that since you can look at a RAL/pantone book and it will be way different on the cap. :D

A good alternative is having 1.75 Rshift as mod tap for "?" . But I went the 2u route. Right now I'm using numpad 0 as my 2u key on a aliexpress keycap set.

Same reason several people (that mostly turn out to not even buy ISO kits and/or the set they're posting for) ask for ISO support every single time. Neither is popular, people with a need are just vocal; not necessarily a bad thing mind you of course, just skews the perceived amount of interest.

As I said it's not a UK Iso, it's just a Basic ISO kit and I won't add anymore keys for the UK/norde or anyother layout.

Usually when a 7u spacebar is included in the base kit that means there are two sets of 1.5u alt and ctrl keys. As well as a 1.75u shift and a 1u fn key. Everything you need is included in the base kit.

GMK dosent provide samples until MOQ is reached, the green will be perfectly matched no worries on that (the RAL 6038 looks really good, aswell as some other good alternatives) ! if you have any other questions, feel free to let me know.
