DCS Pink Alert

Welcome to the Pink Alert IC, a set idea I had whilst getting zooted on the balcony one time and thought to myself "Damn, I really want that to exist". Now that you know where you are, lets get into it shall we?

Inspiration

DCS Red Alert is one of my favourite sets of all time and pastel pink is one of my favourite colors. So why not combine them?

IC Form

Once you've had a gander at what Pink Alert has to offer for now, it'd be much appreciated if you could take a few minutes to fill the IC Form above so I know what you guys would like to see change.

Kits

Keep in mind renders are not to be used as exact color reference as they are not representative of how the set will look in real life.

This kit will be offered in both MX and Alps variants

Color Samples finally here. These are a good way to get a rough idea of how the pink should actually look like IRL.

These pictures are taken in natural daylight in front of my open window. Lighting has a massive impact on colors, so keep in mind that shade of pink may contrast under your desklamp at 3AM

.

Pricing - Target pricing will be provided within a couple weeks of posting this IC. This is so that I may more accurately estimate what a realistic MOQ is for the set.

Why

DCS: Aside from the relatively short lead times, I genuinely love the profile and typing feel of these keycaps. For those who are still stuck on the mindset that thin keycaps are inherently bad, I would argue that's only the case when it's paired with the low quality materials and OEM-tier manufacturing processes those are typically made with. The thinness of ABS DCS attributes to less dampening of switch feedback, even going as far as making tactiles feel more tactile due to this effect. Moreover the unique "chirpy" / thin sound profile, albeit polarising, further adds to what makes me and many others love it.

ABS: Not only is DCS PBT far more expensive than ABS DCS and thicker (thus losing a part of what I love about thin DCS), it's also just not possible for this design due to the white on pink keycaps as they require reverse dye-sublimation; which Signature Plastics can't do as of yet.

Wyse Legends: I personally enjoy the unique aesthetic this font provides and think it works well with the profile. I understand there are those who may prefer I use Cherry legends but this will not be a possibility for this set. If this is a dealbreaker for you, there are plenty of other wonderful sets that make use of great pastel pinks

This kitting: The kits you see above have been carefully thought out, taking into consideration all the sage advice provided from friends and wise community members alike. To reiterate - if you have any suggestions or criticisms that you believe may help improve the set, please do not hold back! Fill out the IC form and voice your opinion in this thread.

Consider running basic 4-key ISO (with R3 \|, R4 <>) in the base kit instead of full ISO-UK. That's a whole lot of extra keys, not least thanks to the extra R1 keys needed for ISO-UK.

Addendum: The base kit is missing a R4 1u Ctrl key.

Hello Mr. Puddsy

Well you see, my plan was to post a pink set on Valentine's day because it's pretty cute! DHL Express decided to cuck me by not picking up my package 3 days in a row, meaning I got the chips this Tuesday instead of on Friday. Adding insult to injury, I haven't been able to take pictures during the week. With that said, color chips are on hand and they look ****ing amazing! Will back this up with a variety of comparison pictures in different settings tomorrow evening.

Please keep in mind the impact lighting has on colors as the chips in your room lights won't be the same as they are in natural light. If you're super on the fence over whether the pink is for you or not , you could go buy a color chip from Signature Plastics for $3+ ship (Pink is RCS).

Femboy and Numpad kits have been revised based on feedback from IC responses. Changelog updated in accordance.

I was strongly considering windowed numlock for the numpad kit but ultimately decided against it. Numpad kit is already very large as it is.

There's countless pastel pink deskmats available on the market. I don't feel there's a need to add another to that list, lets focus on what really matters here

Thought I had made it clear in the IC but I do not intend on making a deskmat for this set. Not only is there no "theme" to base it off of, the colors are just pink and white. There's plenty of pink and/or white deskmats out there

I'm much more into this than the also currently IC'ed GMK Beloved because I think the num row of pink is way cooler (and less common) than the boring template of "alphas in one colour, mods in another."

I just hope as others have said that this isn't dead. Please let this still happen.
