A full view of the keyboard would be appreciated. Less of an IC and more of a teaser.

Agreed, I don't have an instagram to even see what else is out there for this. I'm very eager to get my hands on this but I'm so curious as to what colors will be available.

Really not sure how going screwless enhances the aesthetic. I'd rather have them, personally, as I've never had a good experience with a build that opted otherwise. That said, still pretty excited for this. Was super bummed when I missed out on V1.

Also, pls hotswap

Space65 is the pinnacle of keyboard designs in my opinion, I'll even say iconic.
I'm unable to join the GB but good luck with it! I'd love to see more of it in the future.

I don't think hotswap is that important, at least to me. Specially with the chip shortage, if you manage to go hotswap is just a nice plus

Yes if it happens it will be an option. The solder PCB version should be available.

My biggest problem with the space 65 design is the fact that it only had leds on the left side. Will the r3 have an led on both sides this time?

Build video here

The group buy is running soon in China for 2300 yuan.

I think the build is interesting, its a three piece screw less design. Has silicone gaskets and daughter board this time. They have four options of fr4, pc, pom and possibly peek.  I dont know how a PEEK plate is like, never seen one.

There is no weight measuring in the video, it looks too light to me. It looks alright but it's probably going to be like $400 for international? That's a bit much. If it's in $350 ish I might get one. This looks like to be same price as something like Mr.Suit from OwLab but doesnt look that nice, OwLab Spring is cheaper than this for example. They have lots of fans so I dont think they have a problem selling this either way.

Screwless design but there’s a CNC’d slotted-head screw on the weight on the bottom. What’s the point?

Great point, they might as well make those real screws. It looks a bit cheap and toy-ish with faux screws on the weight.

I have skimmed through the thread I am not sure if this has been asked before, but here we go: would a hotswap PCB from R3 fit into a R1 or R2 case?

You can see the build video, the pcb has change quite a bit. The side LEDs are now on the main pcb, not on a separate vertical board. While that might still work. the usb port is also different. It now connects to a daughter board unlike previous run. I guess you might be able to jam the daughter board into the USB hole of the R2 with hot glue or something and have it work but its clearly not intended to be compatible.

Yeah, you are right, I missed the daughter board part. Maybe a hotswap PCB compatible with R1 and R2 could be considered, I am currently mil-maxing a Space65 board and it is a really painstakingly slow process.

Yeah, hopefully it stays in the $3XX range, but as long as it's cheaper than the aftermarket, people will buy.

Also +1 for no fake screws; absolutely pointless.

Definitely don't want hotswap unless you are going to add standoffs and screws to hold the pcb/plate assembly together. Ruins the typing experience imo.

Really looking forward to R3's international group buy. Is there any chance of the mid pieces being sold separately? Deep Ocean is beautiful, but the wine red mid plate limits what you can put on the board in my opinion.

I don't think that potter will do that since it would decrease the amount of work, stress and increase shipping time. The Space will for sure get ordered a lot I would even say in the high 4 digit to 5 digit area. By dont having the option to select the mid part he can fullfill this GB faster. You can easily order 2 boards swap one midpart out and just sell it. There will be ppl who'll still miss the GB and would happily take it from you even for a small 30% increase in reatail price.

I'd really like to have a solder option available. I've had too many HS pads pop off on me, and I genuinely enjoy the security that a soldered joint provides.

Plus Solder PCBs let you decide if you want split spacebars, split backspace, and other minor changes that HS PCBs can't.

easy way to prevent it from happening is to support the socket with ur finger when pressing the switch in if you do that the socket will never pop btw hotswap is just an option doesnt mean that it is the only option

Yeah, I think they will keep the solder option. hot-swap is optional and costs extra. I am pretty sure because Chinese GB has already been concluded.
