Technically that is a keypad, and should be posted here :p

How did you do the dying? Just follow the stove top directions that are posted online for coloring fabric?

Anyway, here is my freshly dental-banded HHKB. Wish I had some blanks for the 5, 0, and arrow keys. I'm thinking about dying them and the modifiers, provided I can get some guidance on exactly what to do if it goes beyond what is necessary for clothes. Too bad iDye is an add-on item at Amazon (meaning I'd have to pay shipping or spend $35), but I'm kind of itching to try this method of cap coloring.

I just followed these instructions from nubbinator:

Get the water nice and hot, add the dye slowly, add more till water is saturated.  Add the color enhancer.  Let it boil or simmer for a little to get the dye nice and saturated.  Add salt and vinegar if you want.  Get the water to 150-175F and drop your caps in. Stir until you get your desired color.  Dump and rinse.

I ended up having the caps in for only 4 or 5 minutes or so.

I installed hasu's alternate controller into my HHKB today.  It's pretty badass.  Just open the case and plug in the controller, and then compile and load the keymap layout you want.

Right now I've got spiceBar's spaceFN layout installed.  This hardware implementation of spaceFN works much better than the AHK software implementation.

I'm sooo tempted! But I'm also kind of scared to do it. Lol! If I ever end up with some cash to spend, I might have to drop it on an extra blank white/grey HHKB set and some dye...

Man, this thing is straight grimy.

Woah, any more pics of that black fn and blank? Looks really nice!  :thumb:

Ummm... I think these are Julysicles blanks, and the whole picture is black and white.

Okay, that is what I was thinking, because I have never seen any caps like those, and the picture looked a little off. Cheers!

I like!!! The novelty cap colors are great! That blue gives it great contrast to the summer set colors :) I always thought Light Blue made an equally awesome ESC color as Red.

"Contrast" is exactly the word I was going to use to describe that, prefixed with the word "good", or perhaps even "excellent".
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada
