time to finally see if the saying "once you go black, you never go back" holds true for me with the hhkb:

vesper is a bad influence on wallets  ;D

You'll never go back, exitfire was my bad influence.

:-* time to frame this quote an put it on my wall
This, blue alps, and Hoff's Kish will be the death of me. Going to that meetup was a bad idea.

 :-* :-* :-*

Still love the heck out of this board. Brought it home from the office this weekend...it's gonna be hard to bring it back lol.

What the actual ****.  I'm literally typing on this same board right now, and somehow I'm jealous of yours...

In fairness, RF10s are beautiful boards.

Had to wait about 2 weeks total just to do this(extra modifiers I bought shipped all the way from the Netherlands), but finally got my modifiers plasti-dipped. The gold I got matches so well it's unbelievable.

Only problem is there are a couple bubbles and some uneven-ness, might have to peel this and try again.  I was going to sand down the edges as well but I'm having second thoughts since it looks so nice with the solid color  :p

Very nice, sir!  That transparent red looks fantastic :)
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

Thanks  ;D It's a color called Vintage Gold and once dry it's a little rubbery. Feels like the back of some smartphones but a bit rougher.

Dunno if this is allowed, but just as a heads up to all of the Topre peeps here, btctopre in the Classifieds is selling Red and Yellow ANSI printed RF PBT sets (slightly used) for ridiculously good prices. Thought I'd give a PSA since printed RF sets rarely go on sale in the used market lately. Especially ANSI layout.

that blue looks so good.
It looks even better in person!

And I swear Bro must have done something different (maybe made a new mold?) because the texture on it is completely different from my other V2s (maybe it's from the same mold as the matte Blackout V2?). It feels so nice and textured!

It's such a great shade of blue in person. Sadly, I don't have my camera setup with me right now so I can only take pictures of it with my phone camera!

You really can't get enough JP's in this thread. It's always great to see people sharing them. It's such a beautiful looking layout... I'm just too scared to invest that much and find out I don't like it...

... that's cheating :P

Wow... all these beautiful Hiragana caps... I really need to look for a board to salvage these Hiragana caps that aren't from the standard JP Realforce sets...

Amazing get, brother :)

Find yourself a 55g and a type-s to try, you will definitely change your mind, if only somewhat.

So far Type S is really nice to type on! Now tempted to replace my other two HHKBs (just kidding).
I also really like the blank white caps a lot more than I thought I would...so clean looking!
(sorry for the terrible iphone pic)

I've heard people saying the type-s is a lot better than the regular version, Is it really that much different than a silenced regular HHKB?

Are you talking about the dental band modded normal HHKB? If yes, I would assume that the mod would reduce the key travel of your HHKB which is different from the Type-S as its plungers have a thinner base than the normal, allowing for the presence of the foam pads hence no modification of the key travel.

The dental band mod does reduce travel on the HHKB.  Some have said it is negligible, others say its very bad.

Perhaps one could do the same as for the Type-S plunge and sand down the normal plunger but I guess it would be quite time consuming. I wonder if you can buy Type-S plungers at retails, my first guess would be no as there would be no point anymore in buying a Type-S.

I saw someone mention that before, but I think it would be much more work than it's worth.  I believe people have swapped the silent sliders out of the 87U though.  I think that would be much easier to do than trying to source them outright.  You could swap out all of the modifiers from a silent 87U and keep the alphas silent.  You would have enough sliders for an HHKB, and should be able to recoup most of your cost on the RF through selling it used.

I've said it a handful of times. Don't pay for the type-s when you can get the same effect with the o2dazone mod for $20
