Guys, help... We don't have a topre therapy thread, I'm considering buying a 55g 10th AE for over $400...

That's like over $200 just for a keycap set. ..  :'(

I don't need it, I don't need it.

Thanks for all the love guys! I will try to get some better pictures soon. Looks like my hhkb is finally finished.. Now I am eyeing up a 55g realforce!  :o

Also Air Tree, I agree with demik. I would buy some white sets and mess around with dyeing if you are looking for some new colours!

55g feels like when you have to pee really bad but there is no place to go and then you find a place and finally pee.

Just pure unadulterated satisfaction.

I sold my RF87u55g board about a month ago to switch to an HHKB. The board arrived and I'm not going to lie I was like ...what the freaking ****??!!! 45g Topre my god this sucks what have I done. I instantly regretted my purchase and was very tempted to sell my HHKB !

Fortunately I was told by multiple people to not be rash and to force myself to use it for at least a week. Surprisingly the layout grew pretty quick on me. Even though I was making a **** ton of mistakes trying to get used to it. The feel of the 45g switch I wouldn't say grew on me but I came to terms with it . I realized there were quite a few advantages to a 60% board and the layout really grew on me. It became pretty apparent though that i would never love 45g !!!!

About a week later I saw someone advertising a new 10th AE 55g realforce and I realized 55g was  fate. I now have both boards and rejoiced for the situation was good   :p

Edit: I paid $305 shipped for my 10th AE RF 55g

That's a good deal.  But, they sent you one that is upside down!  Better send it to me - all the keyboards are upside down here ;)
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

It's really not though.

I'm not discussing whether the 10AE keyset is worth $200 (obviously I think it is, but that's a different story), I'm saying that this keyboard is IMO the most complete out-of-box experience.  I stand by that.

You have artisan caps on your HHKB that don't add functionality.  How you can then ignore the keyset on a 10AE I do not understand.

Upderted

I don't even know what to say...

You even went so far as to swap the alphas so you don't have the front legends.  :thumb:  So clean.

Where do you get keys that don't have the front legends?

Those have always bothered me on my hhkb ._.

Yep, you have to get them from a full 104-key set.  (Realforce TKL boards have front legends as well)

That's just the 55g talking. If you want 55g you can get it for cheaper. And hell I encourage it. But rf not worth it's price

55g doesn't talk when I look down and see the 10AE keyset...
Same experience, ~200 dollars cheaper

It's really not though.

I'm not discussing whether the 10AE keyset is worth $200 (obviously I think it is, but that's a different story), I'm saying that this keyboard is IMO the most complete out-of-box experience.  I stand by that.

You have artisan caps on your HHKB that don't add functionality.  How you can then ignore the keyset on a 10AE I do not understand.

What exactly are you arguing with me about? We both agree that the 55g RF is possibly one of the best out of the box experiences. I'm saying, to me, the keyset is not worth it's premium since it only adds looks and nothing else to an already great switch.
No, he’s not around. How that sound to ya? Jot it down.
