Got my novatouch stem swap done!

Fantastic! Looks great!

Only thing I don't like about having SA caps on mine is no 6u spacebar. Yours is definitely cleaner than mine on the bottom row.

Thanks man! The swap was a little more work than I thought it would be since some of the stems were a little too wide for the housing. Took some time to find which stem would fit in which housing the best. Looks like the small variance in manufacturing was enough to prevent a stem from fully coming up from a keypress.

This just came in! So damn excited about it. My first Topre experience. First typing attempt with the board was about 10 WPM faster than my previous average:

Sorry for the crap picture, I will definitely be posting more.

Very nice. I've been touch typing for ~15 years and I can't seem to get above 95 wpm or so.

Yeah I know right?! I'm kinda sad I missed out on hypersphere's silencing rings though. I used the EK soft landing pads and did a lot of cutting and ironing to make them fit better. Still have some key travel reduction but the sound improvement is quite amazing.

I actually love it so much that I'm only using it sparsely so I can psychologically "phase out" of MX without feeling guilty about buying all those boards...

Don't resist the oneness with the cup rubber. Just use it as much as you like THEN rotate it once in a while with MX boards.

That's what I've been doing and it's working perfectly so far. Keeps the feeling of typing on different switches fresh every single time.

Hoping you'll all forgive the rather potato picture, but my collection has recently expanded significantly from a Novatouch and HHKB. Was recently in Japan and South Korea and obtained an FC660C, a Realforce 104U, a Realforce 23UB and a Type Heaven (for dome transplant).

Beautiful collection!  Out of curiosity, how much did those boards cost in South Korea?

FC660C was bought in Japan for about ¥22,000
RF 104U was bought in Japan for about ¥20,000
RF 23UB was bought in Japan for about ¥10,000
Type Heaven was bought in South Korea for about ₩165,000

Could have got better prices for the FC660C and RF104U by shopping around a bit more, but I had the wife in tow and her patience with all the electronics stores was starting to wear thin :D

Found Kakaku (http://kakaku.com/) quite useful for Japanese shopping

Yeah I think 104s and 87s can be found for closer to 16000 yen. Did you happen to buy them at yodobashi or a store similar to that?

A bit of a mix. Dosupara, Sofmap and Tsukumo. Even if I paid $30 more to get it from one place instead of the other, it was a lot cheaper to buy in Japan than at home.

I only found the 'right' Tsukumo on my second venture into Akihabara (there seem to be several Tsukumo stores within Akihabara). First time I went, I could only find a tiny Tsukumo who had no Topre keyboards at all in stock, and Sofmap had the RF. Oh well, no real biggie.
