Model M2 repair
« on: Fri, 02 April 2010, 10:16:05 »
As a first (second, actually) post, I want to share my little Model M2 shift-key (or any other) fixing guide.

[*]I used two-component glue that dries in about 3-4 minutes.
[*] Use a toothpick to apply the glue.
[*]The easiest way is two mix just a tiny bit of glue first and apply a tiny drop to make the broken piece stick in the right position.
[*]Hold it in place until dry, if necessary.
[*]You know that when your mixture dries up, the glue has also hardened on the key itself.
[*]Then, you can mix some more glue and apply it gently but thoroughly around the breakage.
[*]Try applying it from the inside of the key so it won't be visible when inserted.
[*]That's it, done. Works like a charm and the fix is almost invisible. The result can be seen in the picture.[/LIST]

The fix isn't complete yet - I need to replace about five buckling springs in the keyboard. Anyone have a couple spare and wanting to help me out put this Model M2 back to good use?
