I thought it might be nice to have a thread where people can post their ideas for custom keycaps as opposed to everyone making their own interest check threads. Plus its always nice to see the development of an idea into a final product and this will hopefully serve as springboard for new ideas and future groupbuys.

I guess I will start it off.

I had posted an interest check awhile back about a fingerprint key and there was moderate interest so here it is again.

I have a few dream ones, but I am pretty sure nowhere near enough people would want them to make them feasible cost wise.
1. doubleshots 37 set with Russian Cyrillic legend ONLY, no Latin, aligned bottom right, bright orange on cream. Instead of arrow, the extra 4 would be cream on orange for the цфыв keys.
2. 104 US ANSI doubleshot set done up typing tutor style, with CMYK colorway, cyan on black for vowels, magenta on black for consonants, yellow on black for punctuation and numbers, black on c,m,y for different keys for rest. All in some custom font, maybe kravitz rounded.

Of course there is a lot of random 'novelty' type ones I think would be amusing, but pretty much always in passing. Hammer and Sickle modifier yellow on red is still one I have been wanting for a while though as winkey replacement.

I think that #2 would look especially good on Dvorak, where all the vowels are in a row.

Also, I have no use for it (I never type in anything cyrillic) but would look awesome.

Whiskerbox: I thought the fingerprint one was too detailed to do with SP's equipment as a doubleshot? It'd be a great keycap, nontheless.

Me, My "idea" was to make a glider keycap, but I got that in round4. I sholud still tell 7bit that he should change all my 30+ to spherical ones, 'cause spherical glider would be better, in my opinion.

I don't know anyone that use phonetic layout. Having the Latin a phonetic jcuken is used more than the opposite with Russians I know who don't speak English. It makes it easier for them to type for web addresses etc.

This makes me think you don't know any native Russian speakers who learned to touch type in English first. Various phonetic layouts are pretty popular outside the former USSR.

Well, hello there, товарищ!

I had to use both BDS and GOST Cyrillic layouts for some small durations of time, and because I learned to touch type on QWERTY it's absolutely true that phonetic is the way to go.

While there are a lot of custom keycaps that I would love to have, the first things that came to my mind were:

A set of 104 keycaps in PURE silver.

AND

A set of 104 white PBT keycaps with black dye-subbed letters (which would be customized to my liking).

I have this image in my head of a spider with its legs wrap over the keycap. Sort of like CC's skull key but instead of a skull, you have this spider. I don't know.. just an idea floating around. lol

I can picture that. like a Spider sitting on top gripping the sides of the keycap with it's legs. That would be pretty awesome, for those that aren't arachnophobes.

I think that would be too difficult to reproduce in plastic. Might as well just catch a neat looking one and resin it to a keycap. Hmn, makes me remember the scorpion I have in a chunk of resin shaped like Arizona. Maybe just make clear resin keys with spiders and maggots and stuff in them.

Well it's just a greek letter λ and the traditional symbol of radioactivity decay constant or half-life, so in my opinion they had no right to trademark it at all. Especially since they weren't even original about it.
I guess I should go trademark the letter A in a circle. It seems pretty popular with the kids.

Standard character only applies to Latin letters "The mark consists of standard characters, without claim to any particular font, style, size, or color.". So that does tell us that it has to be the whole logo, in exact proportion and probably only in orange since they did not use the standard character claim.

Donno if flight sims are popular here, but a classic emergency key is E (usually due to control E eject). Maybe a black key with yellow diagonal stripes and white E lettering would be nice. Now don't get me started on a complete IL2 keyboard

Wyse supplement kit for all of the common non fitting / missing modern keys, but instead of the beige color I don't like, just flip the blue / light grey colors from the alpha keys.

Lets see what would be needed? Some boards have more fitting modern boards keys than others, so I will use one of the worse choices of the WY60... which is what I happened to have keys from. Need 8 1.25 modifiers (extra one for caps if use ctrl in caps location), both shift, enter, \, backspace, `, caps lock if not want to use ctrl, all 6 keys for nav cluster, numpad +, numlock, /, *, -. Does that cover it, or is something missing?
