Update: 6/25/2018: We ain't dead. Working on getting to run through EnjoyPBT with help from KBDFans.
This is Slate.
The name Slate is a reference to both the color of the set and the fact that you can mix and match this set with others for unique looks. Using the shades between 9009/Muted/OG Cherry sets and the Dolch family, this GMK keyset provides a rock solid base on which to customize.
Also offered alongside EnjoyPBT Slate, Cartel is offering PB modifiers.
PB draws its inspiration from the mid-90's Packard Bell logo:

My idea with this is to create a relatively cheap, universal set

- Finalize compatibility
- Approach GMK for their renders + interest

Pricing:
The GB will be run through my company's site, cartel.ltd. Cartel is a new mechanical keyboard company I'm a co-founder of (alongside two others), and we're striving to bring some exciting and new products and ideas to the community.
EU proxy is mykeyboard.eu, AS proxy is monokei.us.
Update: 6/29/17 late at night
Decided to switch to a two-tone scheme rather than one. Looks a lot cooler IMO.
Got some prelim renders done with both text and icon mods.

After a long summer and some prelim communication with GMK, I've finalized the sets I'd like to run. Today I've emailed them asking for pricing and renders of the final kits.

99% ready for GB. Pricing and final renders of 3/4 kits are on hand. Waiting for an update to the TU2 spacebar pack, adding 2, 2.25, and 2.75 convex spacebars.
Other notes:
Removed Win7 logo caps, now only Code caps will be offered.
Removed 1.25u menu icon key, now only the Menu text key will be offered.
Added R3 1.25u Fn key for smaller layouts.

I decided to finally talk to KBDFans about running this with EnjoyPBT after their success with 9009. Reworking kits slightly and we'll see how it goes. No more CMYK kit.

I know you're not attached to the theme of concrete, but since concrete gets lighter when it dries I think the light grey on dark grey would make sense.
I'm a bit confused, I know that the concept is concrete but I love those dark grey from the sample.
I'm not in the concept already I guess.

Only problems I see with using a custom color: 1. MOQ goes to 250 from 150 and 2. It costs more to do customs instead of stocked colors.
Someone suggested changing the yellow from CV to N6.. thoughts? I can make some quick renders to show the difference.

I'd rather go with the slight two-tone I think, I'm partial to darker mods although darker alphas also looks badass. I guess I'll do another IC round? I've never done this sort of thing before so I'm not really sure how to go about it.

The Commodore has an outstanding mix of a great layout along with a nice color way. Opposite of the traditional black on beige of the era, with darker modifiers. It is a shame we do not have such variety of layouts these days, in mechanicals, at least.

What's that outer 1.25u keys for? I prefer the kit with legend like recent Nautilus. Again, since the mould is already there, the price won't skyrocket.

I'll toss it around with the other guys I'm working with and get their input. 150MOQ will be tough to reach I'd think.
No chance of adding $20 worth of keys to the base set either, wouldn't be worth it to the majority that wouldn't use them.

I'm really hesitant about an international kit simply because I don't know if the demand is there. I'm willing to ask GMK to do a render, at least.

Final CMYK kit - the R4 orange Fn keys have been replaced with Menu legends.
We've also removed the Win7 logo keys in the base kit, in favor of just the Code keys.
The TU2 spacebars have been removed from the main kit, and will now be a seperate kit (6u, 6.25u, 7u). I figure this will give people with other TU2 sets a chance to get some cyan spacebars aside from the main kit.

Thanks a lot! I completely overlooked the TU2 Fn key - not sure how I did that. I've emailed GMK asking to add it.
The problem with the shifts is that I reallly want to keep both the icon and text shift keys in there. If I had to remove one, it'd be the text versions. I could see about adding a 2u shift to this set but it's already pretty large/expensive as is.

Well, the community can certainly support two GMK buys at once. Problems arise when there's 4 or 5 like the past couple weeks. I know lazer is going to be insanely popular and will probably set a new sales record for GMK and surpass.. Nautilus? But there are many of us that think it's over the top at best, ugly at worst :p I'm in for cmyk kit here instead.

The Code keys were added specifically to be non-OS specific, I even tossed the 1.5u ones in for HHKB style layouts. The kits won't be changing at this point.

Most designers take good care for covering as many as possible layouts, classic and custom, so must of GMK's made sets are much more comprehensive than others, particularly those made of PBT.

Slate on Meme. We're gonna work on re-running this sometime this summer. The current colors will stay the same.
Notable changes I'm gonna make:
- Separating the red and blue accent pieces out of the main kit, likely bundling them with the TU2 spacebars. This will save some cost on the base kit.
- Replacing the "Purse" caps lock key with the down-pointing arrow.
- Replacing / and * on the numpad with the "proper" icons.
- Adding that = key for a numpad.

Probably not gonna run CMYK with this, as it didn't really get a whole lot of traction before. I could adjust the kit (getting rid of the purple/orange keys, for example) and simplify it to bring the cost down.

We're working on getting this to run with EnjoyPBT, through KBDFans. We (Cartel) will still run this for US buyers. MOQ is 100, which is much easier to reach than 250. Expect a kit very similar to EPBT 9009.

We're working on getting this to run with EnjoyPBT, through KBDFans. We (Cartel) will still run this for US buyers. MOQ is 100, which is much easier to reach than 250. Expect a kit very similar to EPBT 9009.

EU proxy is not really required if you're running this though KBDfans. I would just buy directly from there even if there were a proxy as it would be cheaper
Tentative plan is for US to be through Cartel, then likely everyone else through KBDFans. We might add on a Canadian proxy depending on costs for people up there.

Only problems I see with using a custom color: 1. MOQ goes to 250 from 150 and 2. It costs more to do customs instead of stocked colors.
Someone suggested changing the yellow from CV to N6.. thoughts? I can make some quick renders to show the difference.

please read the previous posts for renders. the base kit there is not final here (i've added 3u and 6.5u spacebars), but the intl/40s are. i'm not really sure what exactly iso-it contains but hopefully it's in there. it's the same intl kit as 9009

ISO enter takes the spot of the standard ANSI \| key, so it only makes sense to put the \| next to it (and, indeed, that's where a lot of ISO layouts have it). It actually makes even more sense than #~ because then you don't have any duplicate (~, #) or missing (\, |) legends. That's why I think it should be an option, but other than that, mostly the fact that '@ is taking up place for no good reason.

This is Slate.
The name Slate is a reference to both the color of the set and the fact that you can mix and match this set with others for unique looks. Using the shades between 9009/Muted/OG Cherry sets and the Dolch family, this GMK keyset provides a rock solid base on which to customize.
Also offered alongside EnjoyPBT Slate, Cartel is offering PB modifiers.

My idea with this is to create a relatively cheap, universal setin stock GMK colors. My thought behind the somewhat boring black-on-grey color scheme is that the set could be easily mixed/matched with alphas or modifers from other sets, or look good on its own. I drew some inspiration from OEM boards that have similar colors, like some of the Leopolds and Varmilos.With RGBYK and CMYPK, I think a re-run would be useful even though they're available in simpler kits from retailers currently. The Esc pack would compliment them nicely, as well as go with other keysets with their simple colors.

Decided to switch to a two-tone scheme rather than one. Looks a lot cooler IMO.Trying to decide between CV and N6 for the yellow tone, CV is classic and has been done but N6 looks slightly better to me.
Got some prelim renders done with both text and icon mods.Decided to go with Pantone 1235C for the yellow. In between N6 and CV, looks fantastic IMO.
Update: 9/14/17
After a long summer and some prelim communication with GMK, I've finalized the sets I'd like to run. Today I've emailed them asking for pricing and renders of the final kits.

99% ready for GB. Pricing and final renders of 3/4 kits are on hand. Waiting for an update to the TU2 spacebar pack, adding 2, 2.25, and 2.75 convex spacebars.

Yea its not a super accurate pic due to lighting etc. But you can compare it decently to the black. I'll work on getting some actual nice or whatever pics

I really like the old Packard Bell logo and its colors since it reminds me of the first Windows PC my family had. Grayscale looks more like 9009 to me, which isn't as appealing and has been done a few times already.
