My first mechanical keyboard arrived today finally. For 10€ there is nothing to complain about and I´m already loving the layout  :thumb:
It features black MX switches and it is to early to tell if Ill stick to it. What is this grey spacebar switch all about? Never read about "grey" MX switches anyway.

I would really appreciate if somebody could give me a hind where Ill could find cheap blank alpha caps shipping to germany. Banggood is still the cheapest vendor...

Cherry always has a stiffer switch for the spacebar than the other keys, so that is what linear gray spacebar switch is for

good luck on getting a complete set of blank keys to fit the entire 1800 layout though as they don't exist...or do they:

The case quality actually exceeded my expectation, but don't buy it for the case. I would probably give it a B-. I've owned much better cases. Then again, those cases all cost more than this combo. The factory package is packed very poorly. Only a thin layer of bubble wrap into a thin cardboard. Mine has a few small dings on the edges, a cracked corner plastic piece (not too bad), and a divot where an edge siding piece is digging into the side plate. I am surprised it made it to me without much more damage.

It'll probably go into the collection and occasionally gets fondled. Semi-interesting is that this keyboard is based on an EU ANSI board (see the Euro sign). I've always thought China Cherry distributor imported US ANSI boards.

Nice to see one of these boards+case in someones actual hands. bummer about the shipping damage though.

and the board has the Euro sign because they are all the EU models and not the US model for whatever reason. The only difference between the a ENEU and ENUS is the Euro sign. Maybe just all Cherry had left

Cherry discontinued use of US and replaced with EU in I think 2009/2010... no idea why... like adding the Euro sign is any kind of importance, as the only Alt Gr character. I really don't see sense in why they renamed as it's still US layout.

"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

Really nice boards, all of you.

I came across this thread after doing some research into these. Got a Skidata (or two) on the way and it seems that those keys fit the ISO G80's.
It would be hilarious to swap the switches for Clears and vinyl wrap it blue to make a mini SkiData XD.

What's a Skidata you say?

Lol, I have also tried to contact that idiot for two years now, either he scams people, is too stupid to figure out how to sell anything over dba or plain simply don't want to sell anything.
I once phoned him with luck asking for that exact keyboard and he told me to just write him a mail, which I had done multiply times already and also did again... He never replied or picked up the phone again.

But I think it's a G81 if I have to be honest, but still nice caps. I would love the 1.5 mods on it.

Hello.
This is my first post.
I have found (this morning, in Spain) a vintage NIB g80- 1800 series.

The model is G80-1814HEE/00
It means that is a 1800 series but I can not find any information on Internet.
Thank you

That's a nice keyboard you have there. Doubleshot keycaps and it should have MX clear switches. Doubleshots in Spanish layout aren't common. It looks very dirty though, not NIB

Thanks Photekg.
What is"HEE" mean?
And Yes, the keyboard has dust but (I think it) never was used.

The middle E means it has clear switches

The last E means it is spanish layout

Thank you Ivan.
I was comparing my 1814 with the 1813 model and are the same. I think that the different number is because is... Spanish?? In any case it is a "mx clear" keyboard and that is very interesting too.
Now I have to clean it "in a easy way" (because I am not capable to dismount it)

Since it just looks dusty and not heavily soiled, just hold it keys down (so the dust falls and doesn't get pushed inside it) and use something like feather duster or some soft bristles paint brush or similar. It's basically how I do my regular cleaning on my keyboards.

Nice find, that is very lucky as those are quite rare... first I have seen even outside of model number lists.

Around 6 years ago, a Korean come up with a G80-1814HEU. It's from a Siemens system.

It looks like a very early Cherry g80 model and indestructible.

Work in progress. Might change LEDs, cable and paint bottom half as well.
