Keyboard of the Month 2017 - January Nominations
« on: Wed, 25 January 2017, 02:03:26 »
OK boys and girls, I know the Keyboard of the Year poll is going on right now, but so we don't get too far behind, I'm gonna go ahead and post the January nomination thread as well :)

Last month's winner was Pomk's PENDULA

As always, the nomination thread will be up for two weeks, with the top three going on to compete for the first Keyboard of the Month award of the year!
Can we get them to build the Alps ten feet higher and get Cherry to pay for it?

DEFINITE +1 on jlv's double action keyboard! I saw a musical instrument use the same switch configuration in a hexagonal pattern. Measuring the time between the MX switch and the pushbutton switch closing derived the speed (and thus the force) the instrument's keys were being pressed at. I commend the use of the idea for easy special character access! A perfect usage of the concept!  :thumb: :D

Drclick's Do2

The Dolphin case is also nice, and technically jlv's board will probably win but really liking Drclick's Do2 Kishsaver replica. So +1 for that.

Render of the month?
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

Should have its own thread. For all those computer artists or there that make all of the board/keyset renders for the GB's and what not.

...can't tell if serious.

If you are, then there are only a few people doing actual renders so it'd be pretty pointless.

Mildly serious. It might drive some new people to try doing renders. But yea =/

That board needs to win!
People in the 1980s, in general, were clearly just better than we are now in every measurable way.
