I get home and theres a UPS sticker saying I needed a signature, which I have never needed for anything else I've bought from Originative and was not made aware of in any way. On top of that today was the only day I have off work this week, god I'm upset.

Got my RJ today.  Unfortunately I won't have time to build this for quite awhile but it looks great next to the Revo calc pad.  Quick question: has anyone else had issues screwing down the top piece without the acrylic layer?  The threading doesn't seem deep enough to tighten the top piece down all the way.  Should I use a shim?

Hi All,

Someone asked me what I did to mod the alu plate so that you could do split backspace and I figured i'd post it publicly for anyone interested. See below.

 

Here is what the plate originally looks like. It's a little grainy cause enlarged, but there are 4 "nubs" that cause the 2 switches to sit about 1-2mm above the rest of the row. You just need to grind these off.



Here is what the plate looked like after I ground the 4 nubs off. You can be pretty flexible about it, as the PCB will be holding the switches in place even if you grind off a little too much. My advice is to insert some switches in to the plate of the same row, then add your split BS switches after grinding a little, seeing if it lines up, take em out, grind a little more, stick em back in, see if it lines up, and so on until it looks right.

That's exactly what I did to mine, and it works great. Can't even see the parts that had to be shaved once the switches are on. They had a little bit of play to them, so I soldered one leg first, melted and adjusted until the switch lined up with the others, then soldered the other.

You should have received a couple of update emails from AlexAtPanc. Manufacturer produced the wrong plates and they are being remade. Just drop me (or Alex) a pm if you have any questions.

Well, I FINALLY received my RJ from O.co. I want to be excited but I am rather disappointed in the quality. Mine came out of the box with 3-5 obvious imperfections on the edges where they are easy to see (IMO). I do not have time to take pictures right now but I will post them when I am able. Do I like it? Yes. Am I going to keep it? Yes. I am disappointed though due to waiting waiting this long only to receive this quality. The QC on these were supposed to be very good and that is not the case.

@ArchDill, incidentally the major blemish on mine is in the same spot as your first picture. I might try to upload some pics later.

Hope that Revo has a solution for you guys, this really doesn‘t look too nice.

I was under the impression that Revo‘s QC is always top notch, especially because he mentioned that the RJ is his baby and it‘ll be taken care of that there are no blemishes.

I have some major issues. These are all on the bottom side of the case but still  .........Really disappointing to see this many defects, especially when it seems my kbd fans 5 degree case had better quality control.

The frustrating thing to me is that the ones that are messed up are coming out of the O.co batches. Nothing has been wrong with Raymond's thus far. I'm not trying to create a conspiracy or anything but my blemishes are from the factory because it's under the anode. These were hand polished So I'm not sure how it could have been missed.

Regardless, this is a beautiful board and I do really like it. I would just like some acknowledgment/correction in some form.
