It's Taeyoung, also from Geekhack!

He's just saying he got one too, no?
Yeah, that's why I added him to the list. The point, though, is that he's participated in GB's here on GH, so we sholudn't take his examlp eas a reason to consider the sender to be anyone not from GH.

I first thought: Why did someone in Korea get one? Then I realized it's just because he's participated in groupbuys here on GH.

I got one the other day as well, but mine was postmarked from Seattle, not California, so it looks like its at least 2 people involved. The really weird thing is that it was sent to my house, when I have most of my stuff sent to work. The only things I can think that I've had sent to my house is stuff I've ordered from qtan...maybe a couple other odd things, but very little. Unless they pulled my billing address instead of my shipping address by mistake. It's quite an intriguing mystery.

What I want to know is how mine got into the postal system without a post mark on it at all. Looks like we also have seattle and canada post marks. That's seriously interesting. Maybe someone works for the postal service?

I must reiterate that mine was postmarked in Monterey Park, CA.  Zip 91754.  May be useful to add this info to the OP since we're playing a game of Clue!

The first thought I had about this is Keyboard Story. Doesn't Sherryton have a partner in Canada?

I received one today. USPS origin indicates Monterey Park as well. Postmarked July 20. Since the return address was also the destination address my roommate was paranoid and didn't want me to open it inside. Was worried it was anthrax. ;)

I just thought of a theory. Did we all help another member out recently when their dog had to go to the hospital?

This is getting kind of insane. Ripster is speculating from his reddit stronghold that it's iMav.  I thought it was aggiejy but now I'm not sure.

Regardless, kudos to the mastermind behind this for having fun with all of us.

iMav is a pretty good guess, actually. Has everyone on the list got something from iMav before (So he has your address)?
---
I also note that whoever got this made at SP probably has more made up in the same batch. I suspect they are mailing them out once per day or so. What's the point at which SP's costs become more reasonable? 25+ ?

I'm good at thinking about these things logically.
I've been working on finding out who this is for a few days now.
Here is a map of Richmond to Monterey Park. The really crucial thing here is that it bypasses Seattle.

A quick search reveals this

Yup, from here and there...  kbdmania, OTD, Monterey Park, etc.

So that's where sherryton lives?

Man, your power of deduction is very impressive. =D

I'm pretty sure this only gives many of you seven days.  Some of you even less!

Sorry AKIMbO, I have a lot of stuff to do, so tonight, Dying's not on the menu. I've somehow lasted the last -4 days, so I'll be fine.

I expect the return addresses mean either the sender works for the USPS and is forging them, or there are multiple persons involved (or they do a lot of travel)

Montery Park address means sherryton could be one.

I don't think it's him, but didn't I read once that Haata travels between Canada and California sometimes?

Ok guys...looks like I have 7 days and counting.  Received mine in the mail just now.  Postage was from Rosemead, CA 91770.

Hashbaz , hataa, and sherryton most definitely do not have my address.  Imav does (via RACE pre-order), Qtan does (via several orders from vendio), EK does, Demik too.  <--Those are the only people I've done business/traded with in CA that I can remember.

How many of us who received the keycaps donated to Geekhack for new hardware?  I think these keycaps have something to do with those donations.

I don't think that's the case; mine wasn't actually postmarked, it was one of those ugly black & white postmark/stamps that has to be paid for and printed at the counter.
