Nice! What's the word on those Ducky calculators? I'm gonna be in Taiwan in about a month and was hoping to pick a few up. Are they actually already for sale?

Should have called it the Barocco Bama: Something to feel split about.
Though the asymmetry of this keyboard makes it lean a little too far right for that name.

Barocco Boehner? Of course I guess that would mean that it'll crash and burn while attempting to keep your computer from shutting down.

How many times can they misspell macro as Marco?  Even in the placard that Zeal took a pic of.

But you see... It's a political play on words! Macros (like Marco Rubio) involve a complex sequence of canned programmed responses. Ok I'm sorry, I'll stop with the election jokes. ;)

No, I think you're right. This is maybe a subsidiary. The contact info at the bottom of the site has the same address as the Vortex business cards.  I think the phone number is the same too. Also, if you try emailing that address then it just bounces back as a non-existent email address.

Clone of SA profile PBT from Vortex. Left handed TKL.

Show Image

Yay, yet another keycap design made by cloning a clone of a wrong/broken clone of a pretty good original. This is what happens when people with no understanding of human hand anatomy or biomechanics make input devices, without comprehending the point of the design or the relevant constraints.

The original sculpted spherical keycap designs by IBM were great:

... as were other similar designs from the 1970s by Honeywell, SMK, Teletype, ITW, Alps, etc. e.g.

In the 1970s, pretty much everybody was at least able to copy something without screwing it up (except Fujitsu, sadly), even if they weren’t ambitious or creative enough to invent something new.

But then somehow Signature Plastics’s precursor applied their tilted-stem sculpted keycaps to straight-stem Cherry (and other) switches, and in the 90s–present, all the sculpted spherical caps have been this kind of bull****:

Topre’s version does this. Now Vortex too? :(:(

(The stupidest part is that SP has two keycap shapes, SS and DSS, which are pretty good. They just don’t make them anymore.)

Whats up with dat Totoro keyset Zeal?
Is this an actual keyset by any chance or a personal board for display at computex?

You can't just post pics like that without a backstory.
My girlfriend is a huge fan, and the pressure on me has been real since she's seen that pic...  xD

Edit: Are these the totoro pbts that were on taobao arround 2013? Would definitely appreciate it if anyone has some info on these!

Because it has an XInpute mode so it can be used like a controller, including analog inputs.

Thanks for the pics, Zeal!

That Flaretech keyboard don't look like Wooting. Their only model is TKL and has an exposed plate.
So that means that there will be a Flaretech keyboard from Ducky?  ;D
Too bad that the clicky switches aren't very tactile...

what the **** realforce. take that backlight **** back to the mx peasants.
I don't mind that they build them, but I do think that they shouldn't soil the Realforce brand name with something that flashy in a less than stellar case.
If Topre owns the Typeheaven brand then they should use that.

Why does the "just for fun" realforce have playstation and xbox buttons on the side labels?
Those enable gamepad emulation mode, turning the WASD keys into an analogue gamepad in Playstation or Xbox mode respectively.

Topre switches are actually capable of being analogue, as long the electronics support it, and this keyboard's electronics does.
The use of the conical spring over the capacitance pads creates a practically linear relationship between travel and capacitance. In normal typing mode the switches actuate when capacitance has reached a threshold.

The reason why there are two buttons and not just "gamepad" is because Microsoft (and I think Sony too) made their protocols proprietary.
Microsoft has been promoting its Xinput API heavily to game developers on Windows, and that API supports only their proprietary protocol. The older API that supports USB HID gamepads is called "DirectInput".
Many games support "XInput gamepads" but not "DirectInput gamepads".
I am not entirely sure how the Sony's gamepads work... and I think that the XBox uses DRM to lock out third-party gamepads, but I am not entirely use.

You can use Xinput with every gamepad that I'm aware of. Even the Sony controllers, through use of third party software. Sony doesn't have official PC support, so windows just recognizes their pads as generic HID gamepads with DirectInput.

I am disappointed in that mini-ITX systems are missing from this Computex. Almost every motherboard, graphics card and PC case has been huge. All desktop PCs have been water-cooled gaming-monsters or NUCs -- nothing in-between.

- Oh, is that a mini-ITX case?
- No, that is yet another GPU enclosure.
- But why is it then so much bigger than a graphics card?
- That is for the RGB lighting.

Last year the market was super saturated with MITX cases.
Considering those cases don't appeal to the primary demographic I doubt they have much more coming.

But then where are the really good ones? The ones that can hold their own next to the NCASE M1?

The "primary demographic" wants a laptop ... or they buy a mITX or mATX desktop from Dell or Lenovo.
