i am interested.
but it would be nice to have multiple key profiles.
rather than just SA.
Hey guys. I am coming out of the shadows to see about another run at PMK Fallout SA goodness.
Please help me critique the last GB and help steer me into the next, so that I may make this one rock for everyone, internationals welcome too. Answers to the following would be most helpful:
- Child Deals: good idea or bad concept?
- Favorite Colorway from the last set?
- What colorways would you like to see the Vaults in the next set? ...the Nuka Cola legend?
Current ideas:
Fallout Blue/Yellow for Vaults and Classic Red/White for Nuka Cola (for those who missed the last set)
SA Retro (https://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=71636.0) - Brown, Burgandy, and Lime Green
SA Jukebox (https://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=71508.0) - Red, Green, Light Grey
Any change of a row 1 SA caps with the legends?
- Child Deals: good idea or bad concept?
I like the deals set out like last time. One main kit, then other kits of specific colours. My main piece of feedback is that they should all come in sets of four! With sets of four, you can replace F5 to F8 on your keyboard and keep things looking nice. Or, replace all the F keys with three sets of caps in different colours.
- Favorite Colorway from the last set?
I love the glow-in-the-dark keys, but the truth is that they don't look so great under normal light. Surprisingly, the Yellow caps are my favourite! The colour just pops really nicely.
- What colorways would you like to see the Vaults in the next set? ...the Nuka Cola legend?
Yellow with blue legends.
SA retro lime with white legends.
SA Hack'd by Geeks orange and grey.
DSA Granite colors matching anything from the gamer pack.

I just don't think the aesthetic fits in with SA retro or DSA Granite, thats just my opinion though. SA Hack'd is an awesome colourway and some Vault 111/ Nuka Cola single caps would look sick with those colourways. I know DSA Granite was mega popular, but it wouldn't fit IMO.
Would spacebars be doable? I'd kill for one of the Ducky style Nuka Cola spacebars, they were neat as heck.
I think the Nuclear Data set is the perfect partner for a Fallout themed board, lets get a petition for an R2 going! :D

I'd be totally down with you doing a "Jukebox" set. If this happens let me know and I can provide you with any files/info you may need! I can also do the mockups/renders and hand them over to you. I will be recovering for a bit after Jukebox hits this week for a spell and don't plan on running another GB right away :thumb:
Also I'd buy around 5 if they were Jukebox colors, I'll still probably buy that many for other colors as well.
My goal with all my GB's is to coordinate novelties to compliment other GB colorways.

I'd be in for a base set at a minimum and I'd love a child set for SA Jukebox. Soon as I saw that set I decided my GON build this year was going to be Fallout themed based around it.
Honestly I'd have a hard time not buying one of everything, been on the look out for the last run since I missed it.

Considering on big set featuring all options...
Ultraluxe and Tops for a casino set? :D
Oh wow... The E3 presentation was pretty amazing... GET THESE DESIGNS DONE!! .... just kidding, take your time and make some more awesome Fallout-themed caps for us.
Fallout Blue/Yellow for Vaults and Classic Red/White for Nuka Cola (for those who missed the last set)
Likely be only Row 3...sorry.

This is awesome. I missed out on Series II, so I'd LOVE a couple of classic red and white NukaColas and some more red/blue vaults. Hoping for both in Row 1 and Row 3.

Mockups now up for Lucky 38. Mogo is a gorram rock star and should be awarded best and fastest graphic designer of the century... :pMock ups look great! But, 5(!) colorways for 1976 while there isn't one Retro or Hack'd by Geeks... you make me wanna cry :p Mogo, please do what is right

I want them all... I DEFINITELY want NukaCola for Jukebox, but a Row 3 cap will not look right in any position on that board. The top two rows are Row 1 and there's a big difference in height between an SA Row 1 and Row 3 cap.
Retro and Hack'd by Geeks have the same issue.
Please, just one (or 3) Row 1 NukaCola cap is all I'm asking for....
Actually I think all the novelties in colourways for Retro, Hack'd and Jukebox should be Row1, with blue/yellow vaults and red/white NukaCola in both Row 3 and Row 1. Nuclear Data and 1976 colours should remain Row 3.

Prelim Vault 111 legend mockup added. :thumb:Hyped!
I'm in for the 111 caps! Don't really have much of an interest for the Lucky 38 caps though. Nuka Cola and VaultTec/ Vault Boy caps would be a must buy too :thumb:
This looks awesome. Small sets tend to get done fairly fast. So they will most likely be done before the game drops.
I think that the 4 keys included in the parent deal from last time were perfect, with my favorite being the transparent blue Nuka Cola key. A Vault 111 key definitely needs to be included in the parent deal this time around due to the upcoming game. I also think that the child deals are a good idea so that keycaps that match some current SA set colorways can also be made. I'm looking forward to seeing what ideas people come up with :)Would you like to see one big mega pack of keycaps instead of child deals?

I will give figures for the child deal kits in a little while. As for the glid keys (nice vid, by the way), I will likely have Blue PC and White Nuka Quantum cap this time in the main set, with a child deal featuring all current legends as Blue PC with GID.How many of each child deal was sold?I think that the 4 keys included in the parent deal from last time were perfect, with my favorite being the transparent blue Nuka Cola key. The transparent caps were nice but I would almost suggest speaking with SP about making it more UV-reactive.

Sorry it took so long.
Anyway, I definitely want Row 1 caps. Row 3 just won't look or feel right on Hack'd, Retro, Jukebox or Carbon which all have Row 1 top two rows (the upcoming Penumbra Round 2 also).

So...should I offer a child deal for the base set in Row 1 for those who wish to have them?
The whole reason I want to continue with Row 3 is that they look great not only on Row 3-only sets, but look wonderful with other profiles like OEM Row 4 (F Row, Number Row, Esc, etc.)

Colourways should match sets, IMHO, so Hack'd, Retro, Carbon, Jukebox coloured caps should be Row 1.
Most generics, 1976, Nuclear Data, etc (Vault 111, Lucky 38, ) should be Row 3.
Nuka Cola should be both as it fits so many sets.
For Vaults, I'd like a Row 1 option, but if that increases the cost too much or if there's not enough interest in Row 1 Vaults for a child deal to tip, then the selections above should suffice.
In terms of colours, I NEEED a White on Red Row 1 Nuka Cola. I really like the orange for Nuclear Data, the light blue for 1976 and all 3 colour combos for Jukebox, but particularly the red cap. In terms of what I'd most like to see in a set:
Nuka Cola - classic white on red in both Row 1 and Row 3. Orange on dark grey or the inverse for Hack'd and Carbon in Row 1.
Vaults - classic yellow on blue in Row 3.
Lucky 38 - not really interested in this one... sorry. But I think it should be offered in white on green and white on orange for Nuclear Data, brown on light blue for 1976. All Row 3. Then cream on brown for Retro, cream on red for Jukebox in Row 1. Those would be my colour choices for any other design, too, if there's one that comes to mind. Perhaps a "Pip-Boy" key? I'd prefer that to Lucky 38.

Demasiado dinero...no tengo dinero. It would cost too much and make the novelty sets too expensive. I am trying to expand colorways while only increasing overall available caps by 2 legends. As it is shaping up in my mind, I will do a mega set of choice colors all in SA Row 3. Child Deal for GID keys, for those who like them, and then a Child Deal for those who want the Classic Colors for legends in SA Row 1.

So no chance of matching rows by colorway? With Jukebox being 112344, it only has one Row 3 row, and it isn't a very good one to put vanity caps in. Maybe make a poll of a bunch of the legend/color combos and put the most popular from the non-standard colorways in the mega pack in Row 3, then have child deals for the row matched colorways? Fallout hype should help meet MOQ, maybe.... I just want a Row 1 Nuka Cola cap in the Juke colorway. ;)
Damn, I've just missed series 2.
I just missed the last round and have been kicking myself ever since.
Looking very good, so far I'd buy them all!Exactly how I feel

Um... could you please explain the reason for using Row 3 with colourways from Row 1 sets (SA Retro, Jukebox, Carbon) and not putting those in the Row 1 kit? These keycaps are meant to be novelties for other profiles as well. Row 3 is about the same height as Esc/F Row OEM profile. I am trying to bring the colors of the sets to others. But...maybe its a silly idea, and I should have a mega set for Row 1 for the reason you mention...
What's the point of a Row 3 cap in a Row 1 colourway?
Maybe we should talk about where people are most likely to use them on the board?
There are still Row 3 sets out there. Still rocking Nuclear Data on my 'Dox and 1976 isn't very old either. If I can ever get Danger Zone off the ground with PMK we might add another to that distinguised list. :D
It probably makes sense to keep your original blue & gold "Vault" caps in Row 3 and if you have a base colorway for Nuka Cola (I'm assuming it's white on red) maybe let that one stay in R3 too. The rest? Match the profile with the colorway. I think these 1u caps are most likely to wind up in the top 2 rows of the keyboard for 99% of users -- preference definitely toward the function row. So if you're matching colors with an existing set you might as well match the row profile from that set too.
Do you have a "base" colorway for the Lucky 38 legend? I think the white on black might be a solid choice if you don't already have one in mind. It's very "Vegas" looking -- reminds me of a poker chip.Show Image(http://i.imgur.com/EpmrPCO.png)
Here's what I'm imagining in the lineup:
Vault Dweller Pack (parent deal) - Row 3 "Vault" caps & original red Nuka Cola & NEW Lucky 38
Ascended Vault Dweller (child) - Row 1 "Vault" caps & original red Nuka Cola & NEW Lucky 38
Lucky 38 (child) - NEW Lucky 38 caps to match various popular sets, both color and row profile
Nuka Cola Six Pack (child) - Row 3 Nuka Cola variety pack
Irradiated Travels (child) - Row 3 PC/GID "Vault" caps & others
Does that make sense?

Yeah, I used them for reference. ;D
If you have just one colorway as the "default" for Lucky 38, like you do for Nuka Cola, it will help you keep things organized. Then you can expand on that for Junktown in as many directions as you want. I guess white-on-green might be your default, but I wasn't sure if you were just using a Nuclear Data placeholder for that key.

Absolutely correct. Nuclear Data Green and White is going to be the base colorway for the Lucky 38. I don't plan on doing much with that legend beyond just the additional 3 Vegas style colorways.

They look great! Love the color ways in the mock ups. LOVE the Retro keys in Row1.
The Hack'd By Geeks set has a Row3 top row, so I'm not sure if it fits best into the Row1 set.
Keep up the hard work, zero. I will be buying a couple of each set :thumb:

I absolutely love it. I joined after lurking for a while just to say I want a full set. Maybe introduce a "family" pack with one of each key...? If the prices were in line with the first Vault keys, I'd probably buy two sets.Thanks. The currently mocked up sets are close to what the end result will be for the PMK group buy.
I also enjoy the Jukebox key cap set. A lot. Not sure I'd combine it with any of the vault caps, but I'd really enjoy having the Jukebox set.
Zero, any chance that you'll do one in R3 for 1976?

Hmm... I had to refer back to Engicoder's Add-on Thread (https://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=70279.0) to see what he had in mind for additional kits. Maybe Lucky 38 or any of the Vaults in green (VBV) with brown (TGH) legends?

Got you covered...check the new Vault 111 key. Should I do the other vaults too?
I'd definitely buy a SA Row 3 Nuka Cola Six Pack, and the parent deal of course, mostly because that mint-green keycap. Gotta say that the orange and green color in Child deal 3 look stuning.
So all in all I would definitely spend some money on this. And when it comes down to child deals, I just want to avoid paying duplicate shipping. If it means that I have to buy a parent set too, so be it.

I like but rather have a mint Nuka Cola. :)
I'm interested, I've been trying to get fallout novelty keys for the longest time now.

Have you considered running it through MassDrop? I know they are a bit of a dirty word around here, but could really increase the potential volume of buys.

I would run the GB myself before I do that. I don't want any notion of impropriety since my name is associated with Mechanical Keyboards. I believe it would be a grave conflict of interest.

Hahaha, whoops. Let's just attribute that to me wanting these now, and having no clue when PMK is going to relaunch.

Ohhh, yes! Yes! :thumb:
No worries. Thought that was the case. I am actually thinking of creating another account on here just so I can show divestment from MK when I go solo with my own projects apart and separate from the company. Trouble is that I will need to get the post count up on the other account in order to do GB's, lol

Just PM users that know you and find someone to "sponsor it" and help out :thumb:
maybe something that can match the rumored penumbra set?
Which set is the Green Row 1 NukaCola for? The only set I recall in green recently is Nuclear Data, but that's...The Lime Green Nuka Cola is for SA Retro

Ah, gotcha! Nice.
Mint nuka will be wicked, hope it makes the cut !!!
How many you think you'll cut the main set down to?
Suddenly some of those main deal alternate vaults seem excess. :))
I think that pricing is very reasonable and I'm happy to pay that. I'd order one of every set right now :)
If you break it down it comes to $3 per cap. That's not bad at all.
What would the pricing be at a 50 MOQ or is it simply that SP won't make them at less than 100 orders?

Dude, those prices are great. My wallet is ready. Let's do this.
Will you be forced to buy the parent set too or can you buy just a child set? I was interested in the mint keycaps, but for 88 dollars I think I'll pass. Still highly interested in the Child Deal 3 - SA Row 3 Nuka Cola Six Pack though.
Major Edit to OP.
Let me know what you think. Too confusing?
Should be able to if you do a little "hyping" in all the proper places (DT, Reddit, here).
How about making an image banner link thingy we can put in our sigs to point here, like the Retro SA one?
Great job! <throws money at screen>
I like the breakdowns and want 'em all. I hope we can get 100 minimum for all kits. Should be able to if you do a little "hyping" in all the proper places (DT, Reddit, here).

Accepting Guerilla marketing volunteers...I lack much clout or post count on DT. I suppose I could post on reddit, but there again, I'm hardly ever on.
As for a banner...accepting volunteers...though Mogo should have this one in the bag for me.

Like the new breakdowns, I am in. Where do I make my deposit?
Now, don't shoot me or anything, but what are the chances of a Row 1 Irradiated Travels? Hahahaha

+1. Would love some glow-in-the-dark love for my Row 1 sets... That would make this GB complete and I WILL buy all the kits.
I think the breakdown is really good. People can get the kit that matches the sets they have / colours they like in the correct profile and not pay too much and people like myself (and I would guess Elrick) that have ALL the recent SA sets and will buy all the upcoming ones can get 'em all!
Alright, to fully get this working on my Octagon build, I'm going to need x2 Junktown Novelty sets x1 SA Row 1 Core set x1 Row 3 Core set and possibly x1 Row 3 Six Pack set for experimentation. Was considering the translucent novelties but they just won't gel well asthetically with the Jukebox colorway.

Thank you! After playing with layouts, though it totally won't work for my ideas with Jukebox without looking absolutely absurd, I put Sixpack translucent colors on all of the alphas. It looks ridiculous and wouldn't fit on Jukebox thanks to the sculpted profile, but it'd probably look amazing on 1976, considering that's all Row 3 if I'm not mistaken. Someone please do this. <3 http://puu.sh/jrQqG/548cdc694f.jpg
Because really, who wouldn't want to type on nothing but Nuka Cola caps?

I think I may be anticipating this set more that anyone...because when it's over, I will be switching gears for a bit...it may be time for 'unplugging from the system' for the next key novelty...

Any idea when this will move to group buy? I know it'll take a bit for production and the GB to run, but I'd love to be pressing some Fallout keys for Fallout 4 ;D

the time frame is probably totally off but is there any chance shipping with the current nuka caps could be bundled together?

It appears that no one but me likes the Lucky 38, so I didn't push it into other colorways beyond the casino annex of the Row 3 Core Set.

You hear me? ALL. COLORS.
But I'll take it in these few colors for now. :D
I kind of wish the core sets, wasteland and junktown sets were all one set.. and all the Irradiated caps in another set. I'm fearful some of them won't hit 100. Based on previous rounds do you think each of these will reach moq?
Because this Group Buy will be MOQ dependent, would everyone like to be invoiced as it goes along, or at the end?
I can register the paid orders as it goes so that everyone can see where we are...
Thoughts?

I don't mind as long as the actual amount that goes out my account is the lowest pricepoint reached for each set.

I just realized why I didn't want to do it this way...if one set doesn't get to 100 I will have to refund each and every invoiced for the amount...that could turn into a mess real quick...

You could do something similar to what engicoder did with Rad Hard -- give people a pseudo-Massdrop-style option to "commit to buy" at a certain order quantity threshold in your order form. I assume you're doing a Google form. Just set it up like this:
- SA Row 3 Core Set -
Commit to Buy at:
- None
- 25 orders ($27 US)
- 50 orders ($20 US)
- 100 orders ($17 US)
- 150 orders ($15 US)
- SA Row 3 Wasteland Wares Set -
Commit to Buy at:
- None
- 25 orders ($18 US)
- 50 orders ($13 US)
- 100 orders ($10 US)
- 150 orders ($8 US)
You get the idea. "None" is the default option. I pulled most of those prices out of my robot butt. :-X
This will be much harder for you to organize during the order period, but it will mean basically ZERO refunds by the end because you can wait until the order period is closed and just send out one-time invoices. If you want you can keep a running tally (this is a lot of work) in the GB thread and give people a 24-hour window at the end to change their minds and "convert to Buy" if a set didn't meet the MOQ they chose but they still want to get in on it (assuming it will be made).
Let me know if you want help.

Wow, this is getting complicated fast...
Would anyone like to order them in singles instead. That would mean that each and every keycap would have its own ability to either be made or not...

Alternatively - don't invoice until you hit your base tipping point, if we never get there we never invoice?
I dunno.

SP are all backed up with SA profile orders at the moment. Retro is delayed due to a logistics fault, they ran out of brown plastic. Then they've still got Jukebox and then.... a MASSIVE number of Carbon sets.
I really hope they'd be able to squeeze this in in between the big orders, so we could get these relatively soon. I want 'em all and I want 'em NOW! :D
Can't wait to order these, and still can't decide which ones I want! That's why you just need to get them all. Duh.
