The case has two parts: top and bottom. Both with be aluminum or both will be brass depending on which one you opt for, but you cannot have one piece aluminum and one piece brass in a single kit.
The bottom piece of the case includes a weight (the Orange/Pizza logo). That weight is aluminum by default and "Upgrade Aluminum inserts to Brass weights" means you get the weight in brass instead of aluminum.
The only ways to get a brass plate are to buy an extra one or get the full brass version. There is no option to upgrade your aluminum plate to a brass plate.
I think you have a misunderstanding about the brass options. Full brass keyboard means the top case, bottom case, plate, and weights are ll brass. The price is $540.
If you want to have brass plate and brass weights on the aluminum housing, you need to choose "upgrade aluminum insert to brass weight" which costs $48 and "extra brass plate" which costs $48 as well.
Some ppl may wonder why you have to buy an extra brass plate instead of replacing the alu plate to brass. For the sake of transparency I'd like to give some explanations. The way we get quote from the factory is that we get per unit price for a whole set of aluminum keyboard. Then we order extra parts separately. As a result, if too many people order brass plates instead of aluminum plates, we are gonna throw away all the leftover aluminum plates at last. On the other side, I fully understand some people only want the brass plate and brass weight and don't want to pay for the default aluminum plate and weights. So the final options you can choose is a result of tradeoffs. The weights can be upgraded to brass. The plate can not.
Im completely ok with having both plates. You can also sell one (although it would be hard) but if you have both,you can try both. Maybe i wont like brass and will switch back.
540$ is too much. The price on this one is really fair compared to what's around here. I just came across many people having mixed thoughts about how good or bad is brass. I'll probably get a brass plate to try both. Personally,i love getting both. If getting JUST the brass plate had a cost of like +30$ i would rather get both for a bit more.
I've got every rookie question answered so will join by the time the renders come. Too hard to decide without getting a look at these keyboards.

I don't know because we never considered to support holtites. The dimension of switch and led holes are all Cherry standard.

PCB mount stabs. The ones you linked are correct. The spacebar also supports costar stab.

Like most keyboard group buys, you have to pay for the invoice of shipping costs when the board reaches the stage of shipping, as that’s not included in the original cost.
ZF (or alex) should have sent you an email asking for your order information so that they can forward you the appropriate invoice.

I will spend 2-3 hours after normal working hours (after EST 7 or 8 pm) to focus on sorting out the all the emails and packages regarding this GB. I believe this is the best timeframe for this job as Asian ppl are at night but before sleep mostly, EU ppl are in the afternoon and NA ppl are in the morning or getting up soon. At first was kinda bummed that the signal LEDs weren't included on the board, but at least now I can select which color I want to use. Anyone know if the standard 1.8mm LED would be what I want to use here?

Btw does anyone know how to use the indicator lights? They definitely don't turn on for caps. I have the bootmapper pcb not the qmk one.
What size are we supposed to use to open up the case screws? My 1/16th was too big and that was the smallest size I've ever seen.

Got mine today, quickly put it together. Went with Kailh speed bronze switches and GMK Blue Alert caps...caps are a little dull but hey, it's what I had lying around. Didn't have any issues at all building it...now I need to figure out the programming since I got the QMK version but I don't see any existing QMK layouts available to work off of...The instruction leaflet that comes with the keyboard has links to where you can find the QMK files.
Hmm, are you using GMK stabs? I did not have this issue actually.
For indicator light. I have QMK and I soldered an LED on. Caps work.
The finished board looks amazing! The MAO White looks more gray to me, and reminds me of a ceramic finish.

There are 9 brass kits are being made the third time. I guess yours is in that batch if you haven't received the shipping notice.
PVD has been proven extremely difficult to control the quality. The prototype was almost perfect tho.
PVD is very expensive as well. We've spent much much more money than you paid for on the kits. Fortunately, the factory is improving the quality as I can see. I hope the third batch will turn out to be good.
I may sell some of the early batches of brass kits as b-stock at low price after all kits are delivered.

I really feel like I'm missing something, the instruction manual has one line to get this thing working "make orange75:default".
EDIT: Finally got it working. What a PITA. If someone makes an easy autoflash and or adds Orange75 to config.qmk.fm I'll donate
