Liking the design, I feel I have to check this everytime these days, plate thickness?

*Edit* Small gripe/suggestion (and apologies I missed the IC on this one), would it be possible to remove the 'slots' linking the spacebar stabilisers to the spacebar switch?

How is the plate mounted?  Does the pcb support QMK?  Can we get some pictures of the board from a side profile?

I might have missed it but I don't think you included a way to purchase the board...

Also you say the plate is optional, I'm assuming everything still mounts stably without it?
nvm i misunderstood

edit: forgot to ask, how much does the sample weigh when fully built?

Also, I think you forgot to post the link to actually purchase the keyboard XD

Could we get a photo of the side of it? So we can see the height of the board on the desk. I'm still wary of the front height.

How many pounds does the keyboard weigh?
1.3kg/ kit ( plate aluminium + no assembly)
1.5kg/ kit (plate brass + no assembly)

Also, I think you forgot to post the link to actually purchase the keyboard XD

Plate thickness 1.5mm

You can check on the top of the topic.

OK, I will take a picture after finishing the assembly. But I can say that it is quite thin, even when use the diffuser.
So keyboard can be built without plate? Or there will be a different plate included?

No, keyboard just can built with my plate, but plate will included in kit.

Is there a limit to how many are available?

In the IC QuiFang said it would only be a small run of around 10~ boards but never confirmed if that was 100%, and the GB OP doesn't mention anything.

Are we able to get a completely assembled photo?

wait so the brass plate option is +50 and it replaces the existing alu plate or will it come extra.

QuiFang did originally say he only wanted to do a small run, and 8 sounds like it lines up with that plan. The lack of updates is a bit iffy though as I was hopeful for a quick turn around based on his 10 week road map.

QuiFang: Have you ordered the case parts and PCB's yet?

Since Quifang has disappeared for 2 weeks, I've filed a dispute with Paypal. Quifang now has 10 days to respond to that dispute on Paypal or the money gets charged back to me. Hopefully that's a better incentive for Quifang to respond to everyone than forum posts and DMs alone.

Quifang hasn't responded to the Paypal dispute. August 8th or 9th is when the dispute will automatically close and charge my money back should Quifang still be absent.

You are mistaken. For all intents and purposes, Quifang is a seller here (sent product invoice) that has refused to communicate for over 2 weeks after payment was made. Paypal reviewed the dispute, accepted the dispute, and escalated because Quifang's absence can be interpreted as the intention to not send the product, which means I won't receive the product (Item Not Received).

guys, i just got back from the trip. I went to the temple and learned Buddhist scriptures. And now im back. Paypal was held until 4 August so I decided to start working on that date. Now the paypal balance is ~ $ 1k5 and the total will be around $ 2k6. So please wait a few days to paypal pay enough (and especially you have contract with paypal). So I can go shopping for materials.

Thanks you

QuiFang, not to sound negative but given that the Road Map stated a turn around of 10 weeks and we're now in week 5 since invoicing, can we realistically expect shipping in roughly 5 weeks?

If you can not trust me, say I want to withdraw. I also do not want to know what your reason is. And I will remove your name from the list, anyway I'm waiting for paypal to be able to start buying raw materials.

Are you serious?
I think you weren't the  transparent person in this whole affair.
At least you could have informed all buyers about your vacation.
I am just sceptical and we are talking about a large summ of money here

What kind of fairness? while I have not expired but paypal hold to buy materials. Do you want to see paypal email notice hold period?
You want me to have a bill from the factory, this is China. And if appear "bill" is licensed by the factory, it certainly would not have cost $ 220 for 1 kit.

I do not inform people about my thought as well as my paypal hold 24 days, which is my fault. This is the first time I think anyone will be held by PayPal.

And finally, apart from the most sincere apologies. I suggest everyone calm, close case in paypal. So I can easily get money and buy raw materials. If I can not prove that I am buying raw materials or cnc. At that time people open case in paypal not late. Right ?

is this the first group buy you have run? here is your situation -

you left the group buy unattended, not telling buyers where you have gone after they sent you their money.
without updates, people get scared and issue a refund process with paypal
now, to earn trust back you need to provide proof of your progress.

personally, i do not believe your 5-week delivery is going to work. more like 5 months

i was interested in trying to buy into this group buy, but after seeing your responses i have serious doubts of your ability to deliver

My current $ 1k5 $ Paypal now available. and still pending 3 case.

Now, if it were you, how would you prove it?

I think any screenshot of any kind whether it from paypal holding funds or what not is better than nothing.

But yes, as someone who has joined in on this the lack of updates was scary but, also a bit too soon for me to ask for a refund just because I was hopeful for this.

we understand your situation but also understand your position as the gb runner.

Basically this. If you had told us after the GB ended that the funds would be held until August 4, and that you would be going away, none of this would have happened. You are a newcomer and not an established member of Geekhack or reddit. I have no idea who you are. I gave you over $300 and heard nothing from you for 3 weeks. Of course I am worried.

If you post a screenshot of your Paypal account holding funds then I will close my dispute.

And I just assumed that because he said photos soon after mentioning that CNC was nearly done that he might have some pre-ano photos. If not, all good.

I produced 11/11 case Owl. We have 7 buyers and one set for me. So we have 3 left over sets.

The three at the top look like they're complete, though it's still hard to tell what state they're in from the photo. The bottom ones can't be the end result, they look rough as ****.

The proto had pretty visible marks from the anno; but I just put that down to being the proto.

Anodizing is the technology, but before entering the anodizing segment. We need to treat the surface. After finishing cnc I will try to assemble to make sure they have no technical error. Then it will be worn to polish the mirror, and then the sand blast. The last one is anodizing.

Segments such as mirrors / sand blast usually make it fast and closed. so almost no one mentioned.

And how specific the technique of each stage, it can be considered the secret of each production unit. So, people should only care about the end result.

Or, more importantly, pictures of the CNC and ano job? Would rather get a good look at the board before even thinking about when it's coming to me,  :)

Good point. A sample would be nice to see at this point.

Sorry guys, I forgot to take that as I have you here. haha
btw, I've been doing some other projects and forgot to update you.

Now is the important part:
1. The anodizing workshop told me it was "done" but they have not shipped back to me yet.
2. Plate brass recently completed the rough ... This weekend I will direct bearing away to polish pile plate and antioxidant coating.
3. Because the anodizing workshop is a bit far, so I can not go directly to get the goods.

If you have any questions please feel free to ask.

Any word on when they will ship them back to you? If everyone is happy with ano results, can we expect to have these in hand by the end of the year?

Yeah, I mean I was hoping not to have to say it like this, but the whole thing has been super suss from the get go. I understand that this is Qui's first GB which he was clear about in the OP; this being my first GB outside of Massdrop though has left me feeling pretty sour about the whole thing. Honestly, this whole experience has been pretty f****** woeful.

From Qui's "10 week roadmap" we're now in week 14 with no indication of whether or not the boards even exist outside of a single photo from when they were being CNC'd. We've been told for awhile now that he has the PCB's but hasn't been able to give updates on them or show photos of them. He has been prone to straight up disappearing for long periods; including completely ghosting for several weeks after starting the GB (If you knew you were going on this trip, why did you not start the GB after returning?) - I'm all for waiting as long as it takes for the board to be perfected before delivery, but I'd also like some kind of sign that things are actually progressing.

Honestly, in the nicest way possible, even if this GB is successful Qui I would strongly consider not running further buys in the future. This isn't a jab at you or me trying to be pessimistic in the slightest, but I genuinely feel you don't have the capacity to run a GB. If your buyers are going to hand over as much money as you've been given to deliver something, the least you can do is provide prompt updates when they're requested (Especially when you yourself are posting things like "If you have any questions please feel free to ask." and then again just vanishing for a week with no answer...).

Anodizing looks great, but there is a problem. It looks like the holes in the plate and the top part have been wrongly sized.
My drawing is using m2, but here is m3 hole. It seems to fix this the fastest. I will have to fix the plate to catch the m3 scew through it.

I produced 11/11 case Owl. We have 7 buyers and one set for me. So we have 3 left over sets.

just heads about opening a dispute directly with visa or mastercard. I am not a lawyer but the way i read it when I looked at that option. Paypal pretty much has the right to ban your account, ban you from using paypal services every again, and Freeze any assets in the account. I would assume basically they are saying if you do a charge back on them. There taking what ever funds you have on the account to cover the cost. Then banning you from the service. Once again I am not a lawyer and I easily could have misread. I would totally double check all that.

PP refund went through after not getting any updates. Unlike Audax I'm done with this board even if it does come about; the board could turn out amazing, but the way Qui has handled this was so **** I don't feel the need to continue dealing with him.

Good luck to those stuck without the ability to get a refund.

it's a bummer for sure. he seemed to be so active at the beginning of the gb, but you can't just take off for months at a time with no word in the thread. i will probably be issuing a paypal dispute as well. this could have been a great 660 value for the price. oh well, guess i will be watching the volcano thread
