Well Hello!
« on: Wed, 08 April 2015, 07:04:21 »
Hi,

Finally decided to post, even though it mean entering a world from where there is no return! ;)

I'm a 29 year old guy from Sweden who has been trying to resist throwing all my money into the world of mechanical keyboards. It started a beautiful day in october when I got my Poker II and started looking at keycaps, got a set of blank dsa pbt and haven't been able to stand low budget rubberdomes since. Been lurking at these forums for a while but been keeping to myself. But I'm unable to resist temptation any longer, a couple of days ago I went to the hardware store to get some tools so I can chop up an old banged up Rapidfire I bought for some reason. I'm going to immerse myself completely and build an 60% ISO keyboard with HHKB layout, handwired for starters to save a few bucks.

There are just too many things I want to build and own within the realm of keyboards, so me becoming an active member here was inevitable. We'll se about the active part though, I'm usually bad at staying active at forums and such for an extended period of time.

Please excuse any and all grammatical errors and misspelled words, English is not my native tongue.

Regards,
Vaun

Welcome to Geekhack!

Building a keyboard usually generates a lot of interest around here, especially if you create a build log thread in making stuff together.

Regularly posting pictures and responding to comments in that thread would ensure that you keep active ;)
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada
