The "Green Mods Kit" and "Alphas Kit" have been combined into the "Green Base Kit", just like tons of people suggested, but I was a bit stubborn and failed at trying to please everyone. Go ahead and say "told you so" if you want, I'm prepared for it. But yeah, the price is noticeably better now for everyone that wanted the green mods. Prices aren't as low as I wanted them to be, but with the Euro almost 8% higher than when I ran Coniferous and the size of these kits, it's difficult to keep the price low. Someone pointed out "still lower than aftermarket tho" and that's true.


This is being run through my store this time instead of a Google form, meaning that not only do I not have to manually send out invoices, I also don't have to invoice separately for shipping like I did with Coniferous, saving everyone and myself some time. This does mean that I'll have to manually refund people for hitting price points, but that's worth it.

In regards to shipping, I have implemented automatic shipping calculation at checkout which according to my testing is working fine. For anyone in the CONUS shipping is via USPS Priority mail with insurance included. For Canada and other international there are two different options: First Class International which DOES NOT include insurance, and Priority International which DOES include insurance. Please read my disclaimer in the description of the GB page which elaborates on the two different methods.

Pad printing on keycaps that are already doubleshot is running them through a whole other production process which increases production time and cost, meaning a doubleshot + printed set is more than either of the two separate.

Unfortunately, GMK isn't gonna undercut their costs just because some users see their extra processing time and costs as a drawback. I've never seen a set of Royal Alpha so far that has any wear on the printing, so it does seem durable enough for enthusiast use.

On the same boat here.  In comparison, 9009 R2 Base Kit at 150 MoQ is $145.  RA R2 Alphas + Green Mods at 150 MoQ is $181.

I really want this but can not come up with rationale to justify the price difference.

It would make hitting MOQ very easy, but there's also the issue that I would have to order as many sets as the highest kit reached, and I could be left having to foot the cost of like 50 mod kits or something. Not only could I not afford to do that, but then I'd just have a bunch of mod kits laying around that I probably would never get my money back out of. Also, afaik the only benefit of having a VAT number when dealing with GMK is that you can purchase from them without their 19% VAT. Seeing as I'm outside the EU, I already get to order without the VAT.

Yikes.  I went there and saw godspeed alphas available so quickly added them to my cart.  Then I accidentally hit join instead of adding the modifiers.  I added mods and went to check out.... it gave me the mods and the base kit was out. 


TLDR:  Bought Godspeed mods without alphas and I don't want them.

That's true, I had just assumed that someone like GMK would have their batches fairly consistent.

GMK 9009 and GMK Retro still match the 15+ year old OG Cherry keys so I assume that the reruns of recent sets will also match.

Some of these should in actuality be higher, but these are the numbers I can currently confirm by checking the proxy sale pages. I'll be contacting my proxies to get exact numbers later today.

Got some good news and not so good news. The good news first.

As of earlier today, the Green Base Kit is at 154/150 units, meaning that it has passed MOQ and is guaranteed to be produced, and the Spacebars Kit is at a confirmed number of 119/150 but an unconfirmed number of 134, meaning that it is very close to MOQ and is highly likely to also succeed.

On to the not so good news, the White Mods Kit is at 33/150 and the International Kit is at 11/100, meaning that neither of them is very close to MOQ and it's highly probable that they will not reach that MOQ. For anyone that has bought in on these kits you should be receiving an email over the next couple days that will give you choices for if those kits do not hit MOQ by the time the GB ends on Tuesday, Nov 7th. The choices will be to either drop just the kits that don't make MOQ or to drop the entire order. It's unfortunate this has to happen, but such is the GB life.

That's a pretty good thought tbh. I had assumed trays since that's the GMK thing, and the quotes I got were for trays, but it is entirely possible to have them come in just sorted bags I think. Would probably make shipping quite more affordable for some and might decrease the overall price. I'd have to get an extremely positive response from anyone that's ordered so far in order to go with bags instead of trays.

Personally I want to purchase with the tray but you might wish to add that the kit (or specifically which kit, though at this point it would only be the base kit since alphas seem at risk) that the purchase includes the tray and banner wrap since the tray has a value and is included.  I only posed the question because when I searched for "tray" I had no results on the group buy page or in this GB thread.

This means we're actually pretty close to the 250 price drop point, which I don't have a quote for at the moment and will need to get from GMK, but expect a 10-15USD drop from my current prices. I'm currently awaiting some email responses to get exact other kit numbers since the only numbers I can actually see on the store pages are base kit orders.

In that case you don’t actually need to hit 250. Just 225. With 225 kits you can buy 250 at price drop for the SAME price.

Won’t be any savings up front, but you at least could increase your margin or just do the refund on the back side.

Small, slightly disappointing update. Apparently one of the proxy payments had issues being confirmed, and GMK just yesterday let me know about it. At the moment I'm communicating with the proxies to verify their payments went through and figure out where the issue is. This will unfortunately put the set a bit further behind as to the best of my knowledge the payments were confirmed back in December and I wasn't alerted to the issue until yesterday.

The white mods didn't hit MOQ and I don't plan on splitting up kits, though I might for one of my personal sets. That little daughter tray there is the few extra keys that didn't fit in the main tray.

Correct, there are actually only 2 kits in that photo. The big tray and the little side tray with all the dark green keys, extra space, 0/00 are all part of the base kit. All the green spacebars (both colors) are a single spacebar kit.

I think Mechboards got his shipment a day or two before me based on his IG post, so he should be in the middle of processing shipments. I had Wednesday and Thursday completely free so I was able to power through without any distractions, but he may not have such a free schedule.

I was actually worried about sublegends, so I ended up taking some plastic safe clear coat and using it on my R1 set with white mods. The texture is a bit coarse at first, sorta like PBT, but I've gotten used to it and I expect it to provide decent protection for the sublegends.

Bit of a status update on the extras, I may have had a bit of an oversight. Two weeks ago I actually ran out of bubblewrap in the middle of packing up the GB orders, so I had to go sell my soul to UPS for enough to finish the orders that day. Turns out that for some reason my new rolls of wrap aren't supposed to be delivered until wednesday-friday sometime, so extras orders will need to wait until then so I can properly get them packed for shipment. Good news is I've now made a promise to never run out of bubblewrap again, so I've ordered 1400ft of it this time, meaning I should be good for a couple weeks at least.
