[IC] ktechs S1- Deep Blue Linear Mechanical Switches
« on: Sun, 26 June 2022, 01:49:47 »
Hello friends!

It's our first time posting here in Geekhack so would appreciate any advice that is given. Please be gentle with us  :(

ktechs is a Singapore-based keyboard mods/accessory vendor looking to bring in an interesting proposition for all things mechanical keyboards.

We're taking our first foray into custom mechanical keyboard switches with the S1 switch.

S1-Ultramarine aims to lower the clackish sound profile while providing a loud, satisfying bottom-out experience with a long pole stem.

We are utilizing a HPE Top housing, a proprietary blend by Tecsee that seeks to better UHMWPE.

The bottom housing utilizes another custom blend from Tecsee and the material it's based on is unreleased at the moment (Not HPE definitely).

The colors chosen for the switches are based on our logo as well as freedom from SEED 🙆‍♂️

Disclaimer: 26/6/2022 - Post date: I would like to say that we're not really active in Geekhack but we've found that some of the the top housing and decisions made are really similar to that of the Honeydew IC that's currently ongoing. I've reached out to them and clarified that we're not looking to replicate their work/work based off their project ideas as we've started worktesting/discussions and sampling in the Apr/May window.

We've already jumped over to the samples release stage with the focus being placed on the handfeel as well as the sound and performance of the switches. Samples have already been sold out and units have been sent over to reviewers.

Our intended GB Pricing is estimated to be 0.8-0.9SGD per unit to be confirmed based on Tecsee's quotation. Est 0.6 to 0.65USD
Through the release, we are collating feedback from our discord server while requesting sound samples and thoughts/opinions on these switches to improve the switch's performance.

25/5/2022 - Increasing the amount of lubricant placed on the switch by the factory. This is basically due to the usage of POM as a material.  - Changed
                - We're considering changing the springs over to Gold Plated 2 stage springs from Stainless steel 2 stage springs to bring down the spring ping from feedback. - Changed

Switch specifications:
Tye: Linear 5 pin MX Stem
Housing: HPE Blend from Tecsee
Stem: POM 13.5mm
Spring: Stainless steel 2 staged spring from Tecsee (50g Actuation, 63.5g bottom out)
