is it true lubed tactile/clicky switches have a lesser pronounced bump because of the lube?

from what i've heard, lubing clickys and tactiles are a bad idea if you are looking for a bump

As I understand it, the bump becomes more pronounced.  But if you over-lube, the click in the clicky switches diminishes or goes away altogether.  If you lube properly (proper locations) and in a tiny amount, the friction should diminish, but the bump and clicks should still remain.

It's not that the bump becomes less pronounced, it's that the actuation becomes smoother, so the bump can appear to diminish.  A good, but inaccurate, analogy would be sanding wood.  If you've ever sanded corners with a heavier grit, you notice that the sandpaper tends to catch and offer a little more resistance.  When you swap to a finer grit sandpaper or get a nice build up of sawdust in the heavier grit paper, there's less resistance on those corners.  The lube just makes the action easier.

I was under the impression that lubing clicky switches takes away from the click. From all my reading, I've never seen anyone with lubed Blues or Greens. And the Whites are lubed from the factory and aren't as clicky as Blues and Greens. I agree with nubbinator on tactile switches and lube.

Maybe JD or Sifo will post pictures or answer? Some help me out ^__^

Sorry, no pics of the LZ-GH yet, but the bar foot attaches with screws from the inside of the case. So you have to disassemble the case to remove the foot or change the angle.

Why do you say that Ivan's "Cherry Replica Dyesub" group buys are not Cherry font, or somehow lasered and not dyesubbed? Both R1 (completed) and R2 (ongoing) are dyesubbed with Ivan's Cherry replica font.

Now those G81-7000 keycaps, those are lasered PBT, not dyesub.

10:30? Lightweight! :))
You can try getting actual Cherry PBT caps. I just got a set for the cost of shipping from a G81-7000. There is also a GB going on now for BSP caps. The company BSP bought the Cherry PBT molds, much like how GMK bought the ABS molds, and is making new Cherry PBT caps. You can also try getting in on Ivan's PBT R2 GB, but these won't be Cherry color or font. Finally, you can try scoring a good deal on Imsto's R1 PBT caps, which are Cherry replica in profile, but again, not color or font.
BSP didn't buy the Cherry moulds. They are the original owners of the Cherry PBT moulds and made all of Cherry's PBT caps (the dyesubs anyway). GMK on the other hand did buy Cherry's moulds.

**** son! I made lots of sweat, blood, tears, probably other various bodily fluids making my Cherry replica legends the best I could... not Cherry font, well it's true but they are really close, like 96%. Sure BSP has the 'original' dyesubs, but if you need 1.25 modifiers, center stem fulltouch caps locks, spacebars.... well you are ****ed cause they don't have them. Also my groupbuy PBT dyesubs sets are nearly 50% less than BSP sets from sherryton/originative and just as good.

I can't speak for the entire board as I have not delved that far into the tech side of this hobby/bank account draining curse, but the ATMEGA32U4 is the same controller chip that is found in the Teensy 2.0

Yeah, I know that. I would use teensy but I want to mount the controller on plate so I need mounting holes...

What are 7-bit legends?  Is it some size designation?  I don't suppose it could be related to username 7bit?

You're correct, they're legends that 7bit came up with. Sort of like how Ivan made those Cherry replica fonts for the Imsto sets. I *think* they're the legend sets that have super/meta in them from Round 3 and Round 4 Dolch Replica.

These are called "7-bit" (spelled properly), and there are no Super and Meta keys.  Just wondering what that's about.

It will work... but Leonardo bootloader is what I don't want to work with the most. I mean it is suck.
I don't recommend it unless you can replace it with new bootloader yourself.

Yes, it's the symbol-only modifiers. And the spelling should be "7bit" to correspond with his username.

Why are Cherry ABS caps so difficult to pull off?!?!?! I know, I know, that's just how they are, but I'm wondering if it would be a good idea to put them on some spare switches a few times to loosen them up or if this would be a waste of time. Granted my plate allows for removable switch tops, but I opened up at least three switches on my Poker when pulling off six caps and I don't like it :(

Edit - I need to know before my purple GMK mods arrive lol

Are you asking a serious question or are you continuing your campaign of bashing ABS caps? I've never had an issue taking them off my boards.

I've been using the Olivetti GMK caps on my Leopold and have never had an issue removing the caps. I guess you could try the method you suggested but I've never encountered the problem that you suggested. Maybe someone else has had this issue and can suggest a solution?

Edit: I didn't want to assume. Maybe you're just a great person and wanted to help out with the MOQ. If you took that the wrong way then I apologize but I can't tell if people are being serious or not sometimes.

Lol it's cool!!! Anyway, I know for a fact that cherry ABS doubleshots are tighter than thick PBT. I guess I'll wait until someone else sees my post :)

Stop using glue when fitting them keycaps, and they are not hard to take back off :p
New keycaps are often just tight, but that's a good thing. Better than them flying off when typing because they are too loose.

Stop using glue when fitting them keycaps, and they are not hard to take back off :p
New keycaps are often just tight, but that's a good thing. Better than them flying off when typing because they are too loose.

lol I agree with you about it being a good thing. It's less that they're difficult to remove and more that they're pulling my switch tops off when I pull of the caps (I'm very patient and gentle when doing this). I guess I'll have to keep the purple mods on forever, thanks :p

I have noticed that caps seem to hold to the stem a lot firmer to my clear stems than any other stems I have.  Which would be blues, browns, and reds.  But I noticed this with both ABS and PBT caps.  But I haven't pulled any switch housings apart and my clears are PCB mount.
