Clears and Browns have different stems. I've been noticing people thinking otherwise around the forums lately.

Do leds shine through a thick pbt keycap if its white? Mines do :( don't know if the led is just too strong or what.

Though the stock pbt of poker II doesn't shine through.

I think that's normal. There have neem some pictures posted in this thread that show that.

Thanks for the info. I think they don't shine with darker colors, provided that its a thick pbt.

Just buy regular 3mm (T1) LEDs. Sometimes you will have a problem with really thick keycaps, though.

If someone where to be using GMK/Cherry caps, would T1 LEDs be a problem?

Majority of round LEDs (even T1 and 3mm) will have that small lip on the bottom. If you don't file down that nub sticking out, it won't be seated in the switch housing correctly. This will be a problem for ALL thick caps, including cherry/GMK ABS and imsto PBT.

Looking at datasheet is the best bet to see if those nubs are present. If you're buying those generic T1 LEDs from China that has no datasheet, then nearly all of them will have that bump you'll have to file.

Tsangan compatibility kit includes "1800" shift, or 1.75-unit shift, same as on the Vortex KBT Pure.

The most recent one, KMAC 2. All other kmacs (and kpad) I believe are standard Type II anodized.

Um that's kinda crappy to do to a company but Amazon and MechnicalKeyboards.com have good return policies. Why not do a meetup or go to a storefront?

You can't tell from just trying a single switch.

I would recommend amazon. Returns are super-simple with them, and since they're so large I don't feel bad about returning stuff to them for no reason.

Normally I would never do this, but my city really sucks and there are no stores that carry any higher quality keyboards, much less mechanical keyboards. There is also not much of a computer community here so I could not find any type of meetup. While the switch pack is a nice idea I want to feel what it's like to type on a full keyboard before spending $150-200 on a customized keyboard with that type of switch.

Thanks guys, I'll give amazon a try.

There should be plenty of keyboards with browns, but very limited boards with clears. Amazon or newegg won't have any boards with clear switches. Mechanicalkeyboards.com should have some Duckies with clear switches.

But they are a small business, so buying with intentions to return will hurt them. Then they'll have to deal with trying to sell the used board. If you really want to try out a switch, you should worry about reselling it youself.

Pressing on a single sample switch does not feel the same as typing on the keys from a complete keyboard.

What? Most I've seen for a used QFR green was $120. Usually they sell in the classifieds for $75-100...

Anyways, this is NOT the thread to talk about prices.

Yes, Dubs, they are the 2x3x4 rectangular variety. :)

To the person wanting to try different switches: I recommend starting with MX Browns, as they are a good all-around choice and always my recommendation for someone just starting out. When you buy your second mechanical, get clears, reds, blues, or blacks. If you ever get a switch you don't like after trying it for a while, you can usually sell the board here for about 90% of retail. I really just like all MX switches now, after using most of them for a while. You could probably even sit me in front of a keyboard with blues, and I could use it without complaint. :)

Hi all,

I really like how the CM Storm Limited Edition White Quickfire TK looks, everything except the layout. Would love a keyboard with everything this one has (color combination, backlit, price, etc) but with the layout of the CM Storm Quickfire Rapid or the K65 (basically, tenkeyless) - I have seen a few backlit tenkeyless but none with this color combination...

Also, I am currently building my water-cooled system and need something to match the black & white theme.

Thank you for any small info that could help me find one!

Ducky shine satisfies the first 3 requirements, you'll have to buy additional caps for #4. But don't worry, you'll get over the price shock after you've been on here for a while  ;)

thanks!
that Storm LE ticks most boxes, i just don't like that layout and don't know if i can get used to using it ...
i use arrows/insert/delete/home/end a lot in total commander :-(
in SC2 it won't be a problem as i would rarely touch that side

and about the high $ £ € - i know and i don't mind :D

can you do a black keyboard with white key caps? if so a ducky like wfd said with a different set of caps would be easy to find on mechanicalkeyboards.com

edit: what switches?
