Sitting here, pants all wet, Tp4 refusing to turn on the AC.

With 77 inch oled (150w), 7900xtx (350w), (7800x3d, 50w) this room is 87 degrees.

If we turn on the window midea-u AC for this room, all together that's 1-Kilowatt an hour just to play video-games.

arent most membrane keyboards tactile tho? lol

Yeah the mechanism of a collapsing dome creates the tactile feedback, I think you could make a linear rubber dome, but what's the point the point of rubber domes is that they are cheap.

Might as well make a mechanical keyboard at this point.

Altair and Altair-X

Current status: Group buy from April 29 to June 3, estimated shipping on Q1 2025

After half a decade of development and over two years of use as a daily driver, Altair and Altair-X represent ai03's current benchmark in keyboard design for productivity and comfort.
Going beyond just internals or mounting methods, the Altair family blends a fully-split ergonomic key layout with high-end keyboard visuals and internals to take typing comfort to the next level.

This is the group buy thread - for the full context, wall of text, and mass of photos regarding the project that would be a bit too much to mirror here, please see the IC thread.

GPUs aren't too big; coolers are too big. In trying to push performance, they're also pushing voltage and therefore heat

Would really like an option without the rainbow keys. Love the design otherwise but would be great to have the option not to have them. Maybe could have regular keys offered as a daughter kit?

My dads old membrane (not buckling spring) keyboard is actually bouncy and almost feels tactile
Crazy right? I mean I could probably use it if the spacebar worked that's how good it was imagine a mac keyboard with holy pandas???
What is this keyboard?

That's pretty normal. Most feel pretty spongy and mushy though, especially after extended use. Topre keyboards are plenty tactile and they have similar electrocapacitive "switches". I remember Microsoft's Natural Elite feeling pretty good, for example.
