That's so sick, but I don't even have my poker yet from the GB :(. Not sure it is worth it for me...I already have $140 in my Poker with the engraved white keycaps, another $140 is tough to justify. Red would look amazing though.

Because it's not a secret. I don't even like those big nubs on the bottom. It'd just save me a ton of time...its not like its some crazy custom design.

I understand what you are saying.  The hardest part to build an aluminum case is to digitize the case into a CAD program, and know what bit sizes to round out the corners, especially the inside ones.  As you know, since you are asking, once you have the file, you can make as many as you want.  It could cost upward a few hundred dollars to laser scan one, and many more hours of labor to fine tune the file through trial and errors.  I would be happy if imsto would share it.  I don't think him or anyone is obligated to.  Why would you think he is not out to make a buck?

If it was so easy to create the CAD file and that it is not a secret, we should be seeing plenty of these aluminum cases for all kinds of keyboards already.

Define business usage? I would like to make maybe 10 of them for people here in the US Canada and sell them at cost. I don't wanna make any money off of it. I just know there are a lot more than 12 people that would like one of these, including me.

im developing a board to replace the keyboard but still fit the case... I got the layout worked out on the DOX keyboard theard... I'm still working on fitting the teensy in without having to mod the case.. I have an idea for that but haven't had time to input it yet... i'll try to finish it sometimes next week

Yea, I use autohotkey for the non HHKB boards. Also, I can't use the arrows and right windows key at the same time on the poker.

I know what you mean I keep going for the HHKB arrow keys everytime i use any other keyboard besides it, at first I was like I hate these arrow keys now I'm so used to them time to see if theres any program I can swap the \ for backspace on mac

Still this aluminum casing is going to make this keyboard much better lol

My aluminum casing!!!!! Just my silver one and not my blue one blue one but w/e time to try it out, gonna get pics up soon

Edit: this thing weighs a ton lol

This made the poker like 1000% better no lie, assembely was easy just 5 screws and then pop it right in and screw it back on. Love the feets on this baby, the old casing was much too flat for me, I'm using the tallest feet right now and its perfect :)

Silver is nicer then I expected I have to say, its so funny cuz I have MX red in there, but when you feel the keyboard as a whole it weighs a ton and you're expecting some heavy switch but nope its sooooo light hahah

I assembled it in 5 mins, so that means anyone can do it under 2 mins :P

so, i was taking out the spacebar to get to the screw under it and the stupid cherry style stabilizer pops out :( luckily it just clips on.

anyway, here it is installed. going to throw on round 3 keycap set since i havent gotten my black moogle kit yet. or might throw in a wyse set when i get that.

I actually wanted this keycap instead of the green one.... its kinda weird is not a solid black but a red/black combination.

Finally got to transfer my poker into the new case, this is just temporary until I get the poker keycaps from iMavs GB coming in later this month...

Finally got an excuse to put on my Dolch keycaps, sorry for the mis-match hodge podge going on.. Did a bottom row moogle kit just to mix it up..

It defintely feels better in the new case, feels more solid for sure...

Really?  Cuz mine worked perfectly. I tracked it from China > Japan > Alaska > L.A.  There were some confusion toward the end simply because the address format was wrong.  I gave FedEx a call and was able to fix it and have it delivered the same day.

We do prototyping primarily so a lot of our work is proprietary to customers. As soon as we get our prototype up I will post pictures.  We need to purchase raw materials still.

i think oneproduct has the imsto clone covered, and vortex will be making an al version of the original poker case. what i'd like to see is an extremely minimal case that protects the board, but is as rigid as possible while being as light and small as possible.

my ideal minimal case is basically a sheet of metal/composite/whatever that covers the bottom of the pcb and makes it rigid enough to function as a keyboard. it doesn't even have to be a solid sheet. it could be a webbing or something.

Did you see the current group buy (http://geekhack.org/showthread.php?28730-Taking-payments-Aluminum-poker-case)? They are not milled, but handmade, so they will be cheaper (but a little less "perfect").

I personally prefer the el cheapo plastic compared to that monstrosity (no offense). Definitely prefer machined cases such as imsto's or even Vortex's. The reason I say even is because it hardly acts as a keyboard chassis but rather as a keyboard base.

Yea I know what you mean, the imsto/vortex are definitely a cut above, I just don't see another run of them happening any time soon if at all, I hope I'm wrong though as there's clearly a market for them.

They just need finish work done to them. Machine shops like that usually don't do the finish work from my experience. I dont care for the bead blast look but easily rectified with 3-4 dif grit sandings and then a buffing wheel finish for a nice shine.

More like some bicycle paint jobs than like a car.  It's a harder finish.  Also it's easier to control the orange-peel look.

Really no offense intended. I wholeheartedly appreciate the effort he's going to and the service he's offering to us, but I am just being honest and in my opinion there's nothing wrong with honesty. I don't think it looks good.

i think having a baby is an advantage and he can get it done quicker. now he has a little helper that works for free
