What if we...

± United together but still kept our own pieces of individuality
± Operated as a collective but still kept our personality
± All worked toward the same goal
± Did all this while adhering to a standard
± And kept it simple...kept it basic?

♣ This set is inspired by the MSX ♣

...specifically the Sony HB-20p and HB-101p

The MSX started off as an answer to a problem in Japan. Several computer manufacturers had their own proprietary software and hardware and none of it was compatible with anyone else. ASCII and Microsoft combined forces to develop a computer standard that ran Microsoft Basic (MicroSoft eXtended Basic) and ran similar hardware. This allowed manufacturers to customize and adapt these standards as they saw fit, which is why you’d see MSX variants from Yamaha, Toshiba, Casio, Fujitsu, Sony, and many more.

The era of the MSX began in 1983 and was discontinued in 93. They all looked different and had different peripherals, but they were all compatible with the same software. The system was widely used throughout the world but was nearly unknown in North America, namely in the US and Canada.

While we can’t travel back in time to the heyday of the MSX, we can at least share a keycap set based on this unique, ambitious, and ground-breaking system.

This is our Basic Standard.

+1 for modernizing the icons a bit. I can understand the adherence to the source material, but they just seem out of place. Mixing text and icons is a little strange, too--maybe kit them out for people who just want one or the other? Otherwise, I really like the set! Nice job, Langelandia.

Looks like an easy buy for me.
