I wish we could have more of an idea of how effective that dampening pad is going to be like..

Im assuming we will get a typing test with the prototype? We be cool to hear it with and without the pad in there. Thinking of going with tealios so thats why im overly cautious lol.

With the way the keyboard comes together, you won't really be able to remove the dampening unless you cut the middle section out because the PCB would rattle around but you can go completely plateless.

In and excited! My favorite board under IC right now. The layout is a perfect balance of aesthetic and functional. Will there be foam for in between PCB and plate? If you have not arranged something, could I suggest working with MKUltra to source plate foam for the 7V?

I'll be testing both silicone and foam and I've already ordered the prototypes for it.

Still really hyped for this one  ;D  this is the 75 % to go

Would be nice if Wilba could do the same trick as with Thermal - introducing HotSwap out of nowhere when GB starts  :-*

Sure - thats why i was so happy that U80-A and Thermal out of nowhere had both options

But if it ruins the PCB price, that also unwanted, just hoping  :)

I will update the title and thread stating that the GB is live. I'd imagine that the vendor would create a GB thread as well but you can also follow my Instagram account. You could also enable email notifications for this thread.

Regarding a discord server, I'm in enough servers and I don't really want to be in any more as it would be another thing that I'd need to maintain.

Split backspace is great for that.

Definitely interested in the blue with silver weight/logo at the top of the IC. Looks gorgeous.

EDIT: Backspace not space bar sorry.

Sorry if this is a stupid question. How would one have a split space bar when the provided PCB has only one switch for it?

Hoping theres an option for a tsangan layout on the bottom row. 7u space bar and a single 1.5u to its right should play well.

Not a stupid question but split spacebar isn't going to happen, this was pulled from the main post.

Quote
Will there be a WKL 7u layout or 2x3u splitspace?
The layout below was considered but I opted not to include it because it messed up the footprints on the PCB due to the overlaps and I only want to provide one plate.
Likewise for splitspace - the 2 inner stab holes overlap the centre switch mount area on the PCB.

Lucky I'm already used to using \ as backspace but I don't know if it's for everyone, though it really is better IMO.

Damn, man. I've been a lurker on geekhack for years now, but this baby made me create an account. Love the design and the layout. Will definitely participate in the group buy once it's announced.

The blue ano looks gorgeous, but I'm looking for a board to pair with GMK 8008 and the dark grey version would probably look better with these caps. If it's not a hassle, I'd love to see this board rendered with 8008 caps.

Cheers, man.

What's the latest on timeframe and vendor for GB? Also, has the prototype arrived now? Considering how long it's been, I'd imagine it has but perhaps there was a holdup. Thanks

There has been a lot of unfortunate developments with regards to the manufacturer.
I've since dropped usin Matrix lab for the manufacturing because they aren't able to process either stainless steel or PVD brass to an acceptable standard so that has put a 6 week delay on things.

I've already paid for prototypes with a different factory and the lead time is estimated to be between 2 to 3 weeks.

One positive from this is that the new factory is very professional and has good communication. I've used them before for manufacturing some brass Chiwi60 bottom pieces and the quality was top notch but I wanted to give Matrix lab a try because of their reputation.

Sad to hear that there is a drawback / delay and was really looking for a matrix keyb - but as this board looks so good its best that you aim for just the best quality.

This will be most likely my only 75 keyb - so waiting is fine if the result is to your satisfaction.

Keeping my fingers crossed

Pretty much, or slightly later I would guess. If GB starts September (very optimistic) or October, I'd assume production + shipping to take at least 4 months (realistically more like 6). Which would put it around Spring 2020 (this is all just guessing on my part).

Pretty much, or slightly later I would guess. If GB starts September (very optimistic) or October, I'd assume production + shipping to take at least 4 months (realistically more like 6). Which would put it around Spring 2020 (this is all just guessing on my part).

I was hoping that the actual GB would start early next year, so that I have the time to gather funds. Whenever the GB is, I am sure to get this though.

Too bad to hear about things not working out. Hopefully things work out with the new/pld factory.
Tough to watch other IC's going into GB's and resisting them cause I love this board.

This puts me in a tight spot though cause I'm moving back to Canada from Japan near the end of this year so depending on when the GB happens and how production goes, I may have to change my shipping address or something. Any ideas if this will be problem gok?
