Looking to convert this PCB to hotswap.  Will there be enough room on the backside to fit a millmax?

So does this board have a 7u, 6.25u, or 6u spacebar? Looking at the first post, I am still confused.

Looks, at least to me, that it can support either 6.25u or 6u depending on modifiers.

Thanks. I hope that is the case. I was just in the groupbuy for GMK Apollo and I didn't get the spacebar kit. It would make me sad if this board needed a 7u spacebar.

Doesn't apollo come with a 7u and 6.25u spacebar in the base kit?

It does.

This board layout supports 6 or 6.25u.

Apollo comes with 6.25u and 7u.

For some reason, I thought that the 7u spacebar in the base kit was separate. It has been a long week.

Apologies if this was already asked or mentioned - are there/will there be any photos of a prototype for the grey version of the case?
The last prototype Gok is waiting for is grey.
Ah I see. Thank you for answering me. :D

Heavy WK user here too. Thank you for focusing on functionality a wee bit more than pure aesthetics. After all we don't want the 7V to be just a mantle queen, we need to type on it once in a while.

There will be a PVD coated option for the weight, at additional cost.

Also, brass is around a 3 on the Moh scale and stainless steel is around 6, which makes it harder to scratch by its nature than traditional weights.

As someone who is very interested in this board and potentially will join the group buy, what is the difference between the 1.5mm Polycarbonate and aluminium plate? I've been doing research to understand the difference as this would be my first custom board. Poly is softer, less harsh, while aluminum is harder. I've been lurking around this forum and the r/mechanicalkeyboards subreddit and it seems like most people do customs with brass plates. So why does this not have it? What are the advantages/disadvantages to Poly and Aluminum?

Usually what your research has shown would be correct but this board is in a different category completely because it will be PCB leafspring mounted so I imagine that the plate will make a lot less difference than usual because most of the feed back will come from the PCB now instead of the plate.

Yeah, what Evo_Spec said. Usually the switches are mounted to the chassis via the plate, so it has huge impact on the feel of the board. Here, the switches are mounted to the board through leafsprings on the PCB, so the feel should be very flexy regardless of the plate material. The plate material may impact the bottom out sound, though.

I've never been apart of a keyboard GB before, only cap GBs.

What's the turn around time after GB ends for production? Is it usually 6 months or so like GMK caps?

This can highly, highly vary. Some group buys go up to a year or longer, though that's rare. For a GB this size, I'd rather think 8 to 10 months realistically. Delays almost always happen...

Usually, turnaround time is longer for keyboard GBs when compared to keycaps. With the current outbreak and semi-functional production, most, if not all production were probably delayed and pushed back a few months. I wouldn't be surprised if it takes a year.

Yeah, even before Covid there are always delays.  Jane V2 CE was just about a year.  And that's a low volume run, especially compared to what this will generate as an open GB.

I need to clarify something. If I want two sets 7V PCBs (each with different switches and caps) for easy swapping, I only need an extra plate and dampener right? I don't need an extra top?

Correct. You can see in the second picture on the first page of this thread how it all fits together - the top part sits on top of the plate and PCB, so it's not permanently attached.

Thanks! I have more keycaps than keyboards, so might as well use em for transformer keyboards

I think it would look clean on the gray case for a monochrome look. Next choices would be black, then white.

Any would pair well since the colors are mostly neutral.

For this specific GB, you place the order and the vendor makes the board after the GB concludes, given the total number of orders meet Minimum Order Quantity (MOQ). Other group buys may or may not follow this format.

This Group Buy is unlimited, so it will run for three weeks and once finished, they'll make as many as are needed to fulfil the orders. Possibly more, because extras are a thing.

I'm guessing the "normal" weight will still be stainless steel?

Bit of a shame, PVD steel looked quite nice from the pics

Yeah, the standard weight is stainless steel still.

Kevin has confirmed that it'll be polished PVD on the brass, so it should still look like the render, one would hope.

What do you guys think about trying to polish the aluminum plate to match the logo and weight? Do you think that's a bad idea?
