Northgate SIIG minitouch AT

(1/1)

elmomax:
Northgate lists  new and reburbished SIIG minitouches - when asked Bob said the keyboard had white ALPS.  Recent conversations on SIIG minitouch indicated that it used rubber dome.  Price is $75 refurb vs $125 new.  Are these white ALPS on the old SIIB with AT connectors (PS2 adaptors)?

How does white ALPS compare with black ALPS -- wicki has info but has anyone used white ALPS?

Any thoughts/instights info  would be appreciated.

"For all of you laptop owners who hate the keyboard feel and miss a Northgate.  The answer comes in a small packgage.
An early Minitouch keyboard, Alps switches with the same great feel as a Northgate.
This keyboard is 6-1/16"X12-1/8" and weighs about 1#  I have 10 of these in stock that are refurbed. ": blurb on Northgate Repair site

white alps keyswitches are clickier and more tactile.  there's a little less initial travel before hitting a slightly greater initial resistance at the breakaway point, and then the switch collapses quickly with a loud crisp snap.  with the black alps switches, while they're not exactly quiet, you feel more than hear the breakaway point.

I think the white Alps are little cleaner feeling too.
