Down for about a 100 with taobao pricing. :D

Keep in mind that taobao pricing will not include agent fees, conversion fees, or shipping. I will be talking to the store directly to see if they can get me a deal on bulk pricing. They seem to be one of the better-set-up outfits, so they can probably get me better pricing in large quantity. We'll see.

edit: I will update the IC list later.

Yup, I know that are some fees if you use a taobao agent cause I've bought some leds from Taobao before from Malaysia. I bought a couple 100 of leds. It came up to about +- 15 pounds. Either way, I'll have a look at your IC later once you've updated it.

Unless you split with someone else, it should be in multiples of 100

I might be willing to break up a few orders.

It would involve a lot of counting though, so How about we say this:

If your order isn't a multiple of 100 it'll get shipped last XD

So are you set on which other colors are going to be in the GB?

I'd probably be in for red, green and pink leds.

Has this expanded beyond the original Cyan color? If so I'd take 100 pink/purple if they're available.

I ordered these awhile back, and just got notified they are shipped. ( from china, so it could be anywhere from a week to a month before they get here )

I'll post pics and everything once they get here.

The cheapest international shipping I can get is $6.16 so expect that.

The only way to do it cheaper is to use an envelope, and I don't think I can get it narrow enough for size. Perhaps I'll tape them to cardstock or something.

I ordered some a while ago, hopefully they'll arrive soon.

---
Ok so what I'm going to do for the actual GB is add colours (whichever ones are hard to get in the US (pink teal skyblue, etc.) plus any ones that are convenient for me to get (same store, etc.) ) and use a form. I'll input whoever's ordered what and keep a tally in the OP. If you add something it'll be easy for me to update it. That's why I quit updating the post here, I'll import it into another post anyway.

people can order whatever qty they want, but if it's not in a multiple of 100, I'll have to count theirs, which means it'll get shipped out last. Up to you on the money vs. time scale.

I am willing to look into cheaper letter shipping to international addresses. Depends on what the post office says. It must be under 0.25" (6.3mm) in total, and if it counts as "rigid" the cost goes up. Also, the leads might get a little bent in the mail sorter. I will let everyone know.

Okay so today I receive the pink leds
http://www.aliexpress.com/item/High-Quality-and-High-lightness-100pcs-2x3x4-Rectangular-square-type-pink-color-led-beads-brightness600-MCD/2022812032.html

However the thing I noticed was that the package said  "80pcs" 2x3x4mm Pink Water clear led

I did count them and there was exactly only 80 leds

The order was for 100 leds but I only received 80. So watch out on ordering this is already an issue if they're sending less that expected Leds.

I will update with a picture later

Packaging is pretty minimal lucky no Led's were damaged

Packaging has contents label clearly stating 80 leds when my order was for 100

Leds are very bright in low light they seem to glow evenly

led displayed in light is still pretty bright

another image

My attempt of a close up I dont own a macro lens

Overall I tested 30 leds and all worked. I wouldn't be able to comment on quality as I have very little knowledge on leds but they seem well made.
The lighting and color is vibrant powered by a cell battery.
The only disappointing fact is my order wasn't fulfilled correctly I received 80 pcs instead of  100.

Im still waiting for cyan, light blue, and orange to arrive.

That seems to be common issue. Before we start the GB we should definitely clarify how many LEDs we get. 80 won't be enough for a TKL board...

I just got my shipment of Cyan LEDs in. I got a bag of 100, so not 80 like appleonama got.

Not the best pictures (taken with LG G2...), but here's what you can look forward to with the cyan leds.
And yes, I know the LED isn't seated all the way in, was too excited to see the color :D

I modded a Deck keyboard a while back with 3 mm LEDs of a wavelength around 505 nm. Since these are 495-500 nm the color should not be much different. It is a very nice color and pictures don't really do them justice on an RGB display. FWIW, there are some pictures here if you scroll down to the 2nd post:

I love them. But then again you don't have much choice when it comes to light blue LEDs. All I can say is that they have about the same intensity/brightness of their white counterpart, which is exactly what I wanted.

So they're not too blinding? Tbh I wouldn't mind if they were bright since the won't shine through my keycaps anyways :p

Hm, well, I'd consider them to be pretty bright. They are rated at "brightness 600 MCD" at an 80 degree angle which equates to 0.882 lumens.

I don't have many references besides the "normal" white 2x3x4mm. They are about as bright as a Ducky Shine II on max brightness, maybe even brighter? Sorry if that's not much help.
