Maybe I can't see it, but what is the point of keeping the GH60 mounts points? The PCB is much to fit the Poker in any case.

If you do want to make it somewhat compatible, then keep the mount points so that the 40% PCB centers on the GH60 PCB?

I'd say the mounting holes are being added just in "case." :P

I know the MOQ is probably ridiculous, but one day maybe there could be a reduced size, Poker-style injection molded plastic tray case for it. Which would have mounting standoffs, of course. And then we would be glad the mounting holes were there.

Maybe me point was not clear, what I meant was, why in the exact same places as the GH60?

Oh, well maybe I was confusing when I suggested they be in the same relative positions. I just meant maybe there could be a slot hole on each side between the bottom row and the ZXCV row. And between tab and A. And under the enter key. And maybe one between a couple of keys in the center. That's all. :)

Ahh, now I understand.

As for case, I don't know if there would be aa injection molded plastic case for it, however, there will be an acrylic case for it :D

Can't wait.

For the third row from the top I would suggest supporting 1+1.25, besides the 1.25+1 on the right shift.

Yeah, if it's possible to add support for this, that would be nice.

Now I want one even though it won't support dvorak.

The only change I'd consider for the function layer is to make the arrowkeys
^
V<>

Which makes more sense to me than what you have

Also, where is the , key? I know . is on the main area

I'm not sure why the slotted holes don't render properly.

- Added option for 1.25+1.0 or 1.0+1.25 for the right-shift
- LEDs for the 1.0+1.25 arrangement are 'flipped' so they share a common anode (with the regular layout).
- Added back missing slot on right right side

Beautiful as ever. This is the one with the integrated SMD components, right?

Yes, same components as the keypad, so we're kind of prototyping this one with that...

We are? I got to get a case ready then! When did this happen? Noone told me! ><

Anywho, I am in, please, please, please!

We can save some dough maybe by getting components for both of these together and also save on shipping if you guys want me to do the case. Should have told me earlier and we would have saved on those nuts/bolts. Oh well.

Moz I think he meant the keypad prototype is also a test for the ideas/design/parts to be used in the 40% board

We just need to get the SMT PCB design completed. I think regack is probably just busy. Once the design is finished, I will look into getting a few PCBs made for testing, before opening up group buy ordering.

Update...
  • pulled extra pin for ROW5 from ATMEGA pin 8/PB0
  • added GPIO4, GPIO5, GPIO6 connectors to ATMEGA pins 26/PD6, 22/PD5, 11/PB3
  • ran ROW and GPIO connections to 1.27mm header pins on right-side of board for interconnect

So, with all those extra io connections, you should still be able to keep the CAPS/FN LED as well as the WASD LEDs and still have room to add a 4x6 keypad run from the same firmware... though someone would have to write that firmware.

Okay, so I know this is not even near group buy status yet, but I do want to recommend something to everyone who is interested in getting one (eventually). As you probably know by now, 7bit is running Doubleshot Replacements Round 5 (Honeywell) at Deskthority. These are SA-profile (thick) double shot ABS keycaps from Signature Plastics.

He has included (at snoopy's suggestion) a kit specifically designed for this layout. To order the keycaps for this 40% keyboard, you would need to order:

HONEY/FORTY
HONEY/SPACE625

Big thanks to 7bit for including this set in his group buy!! :thumb:

:thumb:

Special thanks to snoopy and 7bit.

Jdcarpe, can you post the keycaps needed specifically for the 40%, and add that info to the OP. I'd like them to be added to every future GB.

Sure.

Row 2: 1u Esc, 1u Del or Backspace
Row 3: 1.25u Tab, 1.75u Return or Enter
Row 4: 1.75u Shift, 1.25u Shift, 1u Fn
Row 4 (SA Row 3): 1.25u Ctrl, 1u Win or Del, 1u Alt; optional layout: 1.25u >., 1.25u ?/

Let's dub this the 40%/SmallFry kit.

7bit cares not for the affairs of GHers.

I think MOZ was referring to the add-on kit for this 40%/SmallFry keyboard, a la tsangan and moogle kits.

And 7bit seems to care somewhat, as he monitors things here. He's just not active in discussions.
