Title: between cherry/gateron browns and kailh burnt orange
Post by: MSK61 on Sat, 16 March 2024, 22:03:41
I've recently tried a few tactile switches but didn't get fully satisfied with any of them. My typical use is mostly typing and some casual gaming(FPS, role playing, maybe racing sometimes). The switch types I've tried so far are:
Gateron browns seemed a bit so smooth/mushy that they was rather easy to bottom out. Kailh burnt oranges were too heavy to press and sort of strained my knuckles if I continuously typed for some time. Cherry browns just looked pretty similar to gaterons, albeit with a very slightly heavier feel that can be even unnoticed with use over time.

I'd wish for a tactile switch that's somewhere in the middle between gateron brown/cherry brown(one one side) and kailh burnt orange(on the other side). Indeed for a few years I used romer-G tactile(hated by many, I know), I liked its usage experience and wanted to get something similar with cherry-compatible switches(cherry and clones). My desired characteristics(so far) for a switch are:
My thoughts are now going in the direction of trying these switches(in no specific order):
I fear though that switches (1) and (2) might come close to cherry browns and gateron browns I tried before. (3) will be likely closer to my experience with kailh burnt orange. Any suggestions on what I should aim for(from this list or something else)?

Buy aftermarket springs for Kailh box switches and replace springs in the burnt oranges? results profit.
