"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

Was there a clack sale recently?

Sad to see the fake clack trend still going on... When I got a fake like 3 years ago it was pretty easy to tell. Some of these look really legit.

I'm more concerned about the lack of concern of the younger crowd...

I ended up sending him the fake clack I acquired back then. Hopefully he was able to devise a system to ID the reals from fakes. Unfortunately it may not matter since the ones that will be faked are the rare old ones liKe OG Tri.

Fakes are really easy to come by now

The simplicity of the sculpt, combined with the dearth of colors really didn't do any favors on that front

I hope clackman is alright. Like I said a few pages back:

i'd rather he be healthy and not making caps than sick and making caps

I don't wanna call it like this, but in all honesty I don't think he'll ever return.

I'll bet he has all the good intentions and plans in the world to make a return or a final huge sale, but he's a complicated man of mystery and intrigue, and I reckon his real life is a lot more interesting.

I agree, he missed the 4/20 this year. And I think he's gonna skip another Clackvent. It's a sad moment for us.

if that were the case, and we never saw a new clack, it would be bittersweet but i'd be happy for him too

the only thing is that he was only present so intermittently in the last couple of years because of illnesses, and so complete radio silence for this long period of time is pretty unsettling

Re-uploaded from https://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=33569.msg1220695#msg1220695 because photobucket is crap.
But that will be long gone by now.

I do know someone currently with one, yes.
