This is where ripster would have told you to RTFW. But since ripster left and took his wiki with him, the next best thing is the Deskthority wiki. http://deskthority.net/wiki/Main_Page

Noob question, the rows profile on a cherry keyboard like 1800 goes like this, correct?

Function row = 1
number/backspace row = 1
qwerty row = 2
asd row = 3
zxc row = 4
ctrl, alt = 4

spacebar = 5?

Cherry uses letters :D

Function row = E (or rarely F)
number/backspace row = E
qwerty row = D
asd row = C
zxc row = B
ctrl, alt, spacebar = B (or rarely A)

I think the same thing could be done by using your personal text in your profile. Just change it when you're back.

Does anyone know the SP color codes that match closest to the cherry beige and white?

DT Wiki has a SP color wheel picture that you can look up and check out.

SP has a color reference on their website too and I just kinda eyeballed it but you know how it is, unless they're calibrated perfectly and match my monitor profile (fat chance) the colors will be off.

An entire run of custom caps or literally just one cap?

I sincerely doubt any of the large vendors will do a run of two caps for you. The tooling cost would be too high for just 2 double-shot caps. There are people doing things like dye-ing and painting so maybe you can try those outlets.

SP might be wiling to do it. You would have to sweet talk Melissa, though. And the cost of prototypes used to be $60 per cap. It might have gone up.

Just send it to me and I'll weigh it for you. :))

I think someone needs to get a postage scale. But to answer your question, I've shipped a couple, and with the box and packing materials they each weighed about 1 lb 11 oz. The rate for priority mail is the same for 1 lb 1 oz up to 2 lbs 0 oz. So probably 2 lb rate would cover it.

I bought a cheap scale at Aldi for $7 out to door. Best thing for shipping ever!

Can I please have some advice on some methods to stop my stabilized keys from rattling?

Costar Stabilizers:
  • Left and Center of Enter
  • Whole Backspace
  • Whole Spacebar
  • Most of Left-Shift

It's a Choc Mini if that matters at all.

I tried putting heat shrink on the stabilizers which stopped the rattling but the added thickness of the wrap on the wire caused the key to not spring back.

Can anyone provide me an image of how a costar stabilizer functions, like the Cherry MX Switch GIFs on the DA wiki?

You can lube costar stabilizer, where the wire meets the inserts. It should help. There's a few threads which talk about it.

I've never seen a costar stabilizer gif either.

If someone has a spare spacebar and a camera they could make one. Just cut one end of the spacebar off up to the stabiliser stem.

I would make one but no mech board atm.

For stabilizers (only!), white lithium grease is the best. You should be able to find it in most hardware stores.

You can lube costar stabilizer, where the wire meets the inserts. It should help. There's a few threads which talk about it.

I've never seen a costar stabilizer gif either.

Krytox 205 or Victorinox?

What parts do I lube? Where the wire hits the insert?
For stabilizers (only!), white lithium grease is the best. You should be able to find it in most hardware stores.
