Title: [IC]AXE 60 - Norse AXE Themed Keyboard | Group Buy Announcement!!

The GroupBuy has finally come, AXE 60 and AXE 60 SE have completed the production under the twists and turns of various internal and external factors, the complexity of the design has made the production even more difficult than I expected, but I am still satisfied with the outcome and thanks to the people who are still interested in this keyboard.

Also, an all-new keyboard designed by me will be launched on this platform later.

Quantity and price:
The sale is divided into 2 parts, 56 units of AXE 60, and 15 units of AXE 60 SE. The former is an open lottery method, and the latter is only purchased by those who pre-ordered.

Configuration:
The anode model is an anode gray top inner frame, and the electrophoresis model is an anode gold top inner frame
All keyboards are soldered version PCB, and a limited quantity of Hot-swap PCB will be provided as extras.

We did two batches of prototyping since last update. Finally, we are happy to say that all production standards are met!
Prototype 3.0:

Brass parts are gold plated to perform better in anti-oxidation. We also stress corners and sides in straightness and hardness. Better CNC milling routes for side brass parts and smaller margin tolerance.

#Long Design Story

After played God of War 4 on PS4, I deeply fell in love with the Leviathan Axe and decided to use this theme to design a custom keyboard kit. I started designing the board in June and the first idea came to me was to use a TOP-Mount Plate and GH60 compatible PCB, with a C-to-C extended wire to make the USB-C out right in the middle.

However, I soon realized the importance of gasket mount and other soft no screw mount methods. Hoping to obtain a balanced and better typing experience, I decided to use an integrated silicon pad to support the Plate-PCB system and silicon/Poron top gasket pad on the plate to isolate the system from the case.

During that time, I tested a large variety of material with different characters and hardness and I am satisfied with the current outcomes.

Since it is a Norse themed keyboard, I also spent a long time on Rune and visual elements. http://attfreya.com gave me a lot of inspiration and explanation on different Runes. I got 4 Runes from word “six”: ᛋ ᛁ ᚲ ᛋ, and build them into my personal logo:

Then it’s the design of the back weight, as well as the keyboard logo. I decided to generate ideas from Yggdrasill in Norse mythology. Firstly I got ᚨ ᚲᛋ ᛖ from word “AXE”, but I did not get a satisfied logo/weight. As I read “The Art of God of War”on my bookshelf, I noticed that in the game, there were not only elder Futhark Rune, but also newer Futhorc Rune, and I found the Rune I want for letter “X”:

Besides, I found and interesting Rune:
a combo of two X Rune structs a new Rune means World Tree Yggdrasil:

Finally, I used ᚨ ᛉ ᛖ with rotation to get my favorite logo for AXE, and I made it the weight of AXE：

And for classic verison, I choose the root from World Tree Yggdrasil braided spreading to the edge of AXE:

The general design of AXE featured hard straight lines with some smoothness from curves and angles. I did not find a good solution to suit the side profile until I saw the Magic Keyboard from Apple:

And in the end I got:

For internal design, I believed that a new mounting method that not only separates plate with case but supports the plate stably was needed. My final plan is to use an integrated silicon pad covering the whole plate and a traditional top gasket pad separating from the top case. Also, I provide 8 optional support screws for Hot-Swap Users.

this case design came straight out of Vietnam... it's okay? it fits the theme well, not sure if it's for me.

Bottom mounting posts are too close to the spacebar imo, but since the mount is flexy enough it should be ok(?), you have the protos so I'll trust your judgement

can I get an alternative angle on the parts breakdown?

I love the module system of this board, and it's obvious you've put a lot of work into it and it shows with this IC. I wish there were more people in the hobby like you.

I absolutely love this design, I can see the love that went into designing this too. Definitely interested, Whether I can afford it is going to be another story... my wallet is shaking.

Also the ISO enter looks like an Axe so why not?

Design has trended towards a minimal aesthetic however the height of craftsmanship was once defined by intricacy. You really seem to have found a balance between the two. GLWIC.

The main concern is the internal design that currently does not support ISO layout, but if there is a strong desire, we will try to support them in the future because haveing new silicon mold costs.

we received all Alu parts quote, for now, we are waiting for brass quotes cause it's LNY now, so maybe it will take some time, but we definitely want to try more materials.

for split spacebar, most likely no, and for Bluetooth and battery, we created the removable internal weights which get the room for the battery. We will have Bluetooth PCB for sale(no, we don't sell batteries due to legal concerns).

the plan is to do soldering and hot swap PCB first, because the current PCB manufacturers are not very good at BT, so I can't guarantee that the first batch of PCBs will have BT function.

:( That's a huge shame. There are so many nice looking mid/high end 60% boards being produced these days but so few that support split space. It's not a super-niche thing but it would really help this stand out from the pack beyond mere aesthetic differences.

Excellent job on the weight and the side profile, it looks fantastic as if it belongs in an art gallery on display!

Would've loved to see angled side side bezels on this similar to the fjell (https://i.imgur.com/ffxqDW0.png) and venn65 (https://i.imgur.com/dLzMRES.png) as it currently looks quite chunky. The bent light sloping down and sharper look on the top view would've really fit the aesthetic too imo.

Either way, can't wait to grab this if I get the chance!

It is expected that the final prototype 4.0 will be updated next week, and the axe60 is already in production.

You would be better served aiming your hope toward just getting one. I don't think there is going to be enough for everyone that wants one..

the Iskar had a somewhat "thin" sound from the inner rim, I'm wondering if this board will have a similar sound signature due to that? overall very nice design and the weight is stunning

If this board runs well, you gotta make this a series. I'm be interested in some other layouts. And if f-row throws off the dynamic, then frl would do it for tkl and 1800

Actually the Designer works on a different Produkt with an 65+ Layout but it is said that there should be something similar themed in another dimension after that. Infos are from the Designers Discord :-)
