Update 1 Revision 1

Hello again, after hearing all of your input on the threads and through the survey I am thrilled to keep working on this project. I am in talks with a local manufacturer/fabricator for the production of the cases so more info on pricing will be coming. I should also be receiving my own 3d printer (finally) very soon and can begin to produce more prototypes. Last but not least I received some sample swatches of Ultrasuede and it is a super nice material, I am very excited to work with it and incorporate it into my designs.

One thing that came up was the design of the front of the case, for those who do not want to use the wrist rest the front is out of place without the faceted design. However, I have my concerns with how comfortable it would be to have the faceted design on the front for the times you come into contact with it. So the idea is to include the design language in the front of the case but minimize potential contact with it. My current idea is doing this by slightly angling the front back, adding the design, and adding the opposite design (the faceted angles but recessed) to the back of the wrist rest. I think this gives a cool look that matches with the rest of the case. Let me know what you think!

Original Post

Hello Everyone, it's time I share with you all a project of mine. This is the Sarif60 60% case and wrist rest.

The case is designed with a soft 4 degree angle and the sides are decorated with a multifaceted-angle look (sometimes called low poly but that is not really what this is).
The look and name was inspired by one of my favorite games deus ex. You could find these triangle patterns all over the world on everything from clothes to street art
and overall gives off a very futuristic aesthetic. The shapes are not auto generated, rather hand drawn onto the faces and extruded by hand to give a more consistent look.
The Case and Wrist Rest were modeled together and then cut to give it a seamless look, but they are two separate pieces in case you want to use one without the other.
The case and wrist rest will both be milled from a solid block of aluminium, then most likely bead blasted, anodized, and colored. I am also planning on integrating a
Ultrasuede HP wrist rest insert which I tried to represent in some renderings but I am not yet decided on how to best include it. For those that are not familiar with Ultrasuede,
it is about the same as alcantara (The fabric on the Microsoft keyboards) and is usually found in cars/luxury boats.

This looks really good imo. If the price hits around the 200-250 mark I will definitely join the gb!

I like the design a lot, but overall this is very unique and I'm not sure if it will fit a more general enthusiast's taste. Still, great design brother.

Yep that is me, Acrylic was not something I considered for this project until I turned off the lights but now its at the front of my mind, but metal is still nice. Offering both would be ideal but how do you do that without raising the cost for everyone you know.

Will there be a polycarb option?

I'm not sure the extra sharp front edge will be more comfortable to be in contact with than the facets.  Also if you use a forward slope maybe the facets could hold the wrist rest in place?

Either way this case is so unusual I'm interested, assuming the buy isn't anytime soon :thumb:
